Mexican White Cheese Queso

I can't successfully communicate with my local Mi Casita restaurant in regards to their white cheese queso.

I have searched and searched for information on this and come up empty. I want to know if anyone can either find out or if anyone just knows if it's safe or not. I'm 16 weeks prego and craving some beans and rice SO bad...and I have chips here at work with me, but want some queso badly...like REALLY BAD.

Can anyone help me out? Much appreciated :)

I don't know about your specific restaurant, but no queso recipe I've ever seen has any sort of thickener, other than cheese.

Only time I've been duped by queso

I have run across Queso sauces that have a flour/water base to thicken them so I wouldn't eat it if you can't get a clear answer.

Did you try using the contact form on their main website to ask?

Yuck! What a waste of cheese. It's like the people that make cheese sauce by starting with a roux. Just add more cheese if you want it thicker. :D

Can you buy some at the grocery store instead so you can be sure of the ingredients and prep? Even if the Queso is free of gluten ingredients it could be cc'd in the restaurant. Especially a restuarant that does not have a gluten-free menu or training in preventing cc. I have not been able to safely eat at any Mexican places because it seems like they put flour in everything to stretch it.

I know there are some cheese fondue recipes that have corn starch. Its sort of like queso.

i wouldn't eat somewhere that doesn't understand what yoyu are asking.

I’m having this type of MRI this afternoon,  What specifically do you want to know?  From what I’ve read, not all facilities use the same drink prep.

Hi I've been told I need a MRI on my bowels , I was booked for a colonoscopy, but because of my sever back issues and trapped nerve it can't be done , the nurse told me I will have to have a manitol drink a hour before the scan , I'm just a bit worried has I have issues with sweeteners like even a little,  I get a weird throat and ears and I've read it is a similar substance , not sure if anyone has had one of these scans or could give me some advise on the drink prep thanks in advance 😄

Hi all ! Can a celiac attack be so intense that it causes your entire body to work in reverse? Meaning really bad pain,  neuropathy and muscle,  jaw pain,  the stomach issues , Horrible anxiety and confusion??  I had a Tums and you would think I ate poison. My jaw and stomach did not like it . Not the norm for me. Things that are simple are just out of control. Anyone ever have this happen??  I'm trying to figure out what I ate or did to bring on a celiac like attack. I had an idea before but yesterday I didn't have any gluten unless it was in a medication ?! Any positive suggestions ??  Thank you

The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
