I was interested until #5. She clearly states that when you heal your gut you can start eating gluten again. I got into it with her on her blog, telling her about celiac and how it's genetic. She does not believe it's genetic because so many people are newly diagnosed rather than 10 years ago. DUH.

I didn't know where else to pots this, but she is clearly uneducated. She spouted off about Gut and Psychology Syndrome book, which, if I'm not mistake, does NOT say you can start eating gluten again, just that you can heal your gut.

Anyone here care to take this on? It's the fact that she publishes this information with is WRONG. Imagine if you're newly diagnosed. I had a student who almost DIED at 8 months because of celiac disease. I can't believe that someone would put this out there!

Sorry for the rant.

Laurie

The world is FULL of deliberately malicious food trolls on the internet.

You would be surprised who is behind some of it. And it's not somebody living in their basement with nothing else to do.

There is big $ money in the industry right now for medical and genomic research. Also in treating the side effects. They want it, and they don't want people to just eat safely and be healthy. They even love to cite their so - called peer reviewed scientific experts. (Which can be easily debunked) I've in the past gotten into it with a few of them, and concluded they are either not disclosing their financial interests and are on the take, or are just sadistic.

Delete the content and block the person if they persist in spreading the misinformation. Let them mess up and discredit their own work, but don't waste time on letting them mess up your own blogging. You can also leave a note about how that particular identity is spreading misinformation about celiac and gluten intolerance. They like to change names often.

Laurie, no apologies are necessary. That really incenses me, too. It actually makes my blood boil to think that this type of false information runs rampant out there - it could potentially be so misleading. Grrrr. It is unreal how we fall so short on education!

Last month I was at a very interesting celiac conference. The speaker was a leading celiac specialist in Canada (she is an gastroenterologist). Whilst she was amazing, there were a few supposedly gluten-free vendors outside the door selling their wares prior to and following the lecture. That is fine and dandy but one table was serving their dips with gluten pretzels on top of gluten-free crackers and the dip containers were communal! So, I imagine those who were there who did not know better were potentially sick from it. Gluten pretzels? Double dipping? Cross contamination amok!

No wonder sometimes the celiac "society" can get a bad name - there is so much misinformation and blatant lies out there. I really feel your pain.

Welcome here, by the way. I think you will find a lot of useful information and wisdom here. :D

Hi Laurie, I would definetly block her posts and/or I would give links and comments on "yes you can heal the gut but you can not eat gluten ever." Just my opinion.

Oh brother, I couldn't help myself, I had to go read it and I wished I hadn't. She has no blastin clue what she's talking about. She has misinterpreted the book to what she thinks she wants it to say. This is one of those people that you can talk till you're blue in the face and she will still refuse to believe you even if you throw facts in her face. <_<

Throughout our human existence whether as a group (mob) or individually we have always picked on people who are different or weaker. Everyone needs to move away from the fringes of society whether it be farleft or far right. What I mean is we all should be more tolerant of differences in others as well as their handicaps or inadequacies. And the same thing goes with a person with celiac disease or other handicap or difference. Don't be bothered by a friend, family member or anyone who is ignorant. Either drop their dumb butt from your social circle or help educate them. But do notlet them dictate your mood; don't give anyone that power over you.

Bestrong willed, strong minded and don't hesitate to state your mind in a constructive way even if you have to call a spade a spade. I always give everyone at least a second chance and if they continue being ignorant then I rethink my relationship with that person and remove them from my close circle of friends and place them in the stupid crowd. None of my close friends are in the stupid crowd.

It's woefully ignorant people like this who make it harder than this has to be for all of us. sigh...okay,I read her "article" and my first thought is X&^%*&^%$! ---for the 999th time!!--- there is no such thing as a gluten "allergy." That was just one glaring error I found in her piece and her lack of valid sources makes me cringe. Oh that's right!!--it's a BLOG, which means you can say anything you want without worrying you may actually be wrong.

Is anyone familiar with this doctor's book about gut healing she keeps citing? Does this doctor really state that celiacs can resume eating gluten once they "heal their gut"?

I cannot imagine she would!

You did a good job trying to correct her, Laurie!!! ---but she is holding fast to her "belief." We could bombard her with information, but I have a feeling she is not going to budge.

I always laugh when someone says "why is gluten -free and celiac so 'popular' now?" Popular?

It's because it took so many of us--sometimes a lifetime--to be diagnosed. It's this kind of misinformation about celiac and gluten intolerance that kept so many of us from being heard and taken seriously in the first place.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I was just upset. My friend posted it asking if someone could really heal from this. I set her straight and then went to read the article as well as the comments. I was really upset. Then, of course, was posting from my phone with auto-correct, and ended up making some funny comments there. This woman is a fruit loop. I was hoping someone could try to set her straight. Has anyone read the book though?

WinterSong Community Regular

That article was horrible. I began looking through the comments a bit, but it just made me too upset.

Haha I flipped a bit and posted a comment. I fear it is a losing battle with this nut.

I thought about posting:

" where did you get your MD?". " post your sources". But I figure, it's her site, she'll just erase opposing comments.

kareng Grand Master

Ok. I posted this. I hate to "count as a view" on her page. She can show advertisers how many people read her & get money.

Could you please state some of your published sources, besides one persons book, that supports your theory that Celiac is

Sarah ain't playing with a full deck. She does have the Joker, for sure.

She will spread her misinformation to anyone who will read it, and there is really nothing we can do about it.

The internet is full of sites that are full of SH*T and this is obviously one of them.

kareng Grand Master

Haha, that's pretty brilliant.

You'll get that same treatment here,if you start spouting crazy theories like:

"25 jelly beans a day cure Celiac & split ends!"

You know there is no real cure for split ends! :P

It seems that she has closed comments on that post so I don't think calling attention to her blog is goign to do any good at this point.

I have increased my vitamin intake Vitamin B Complex plus 2 Thiamax, NeuroMag, Benfotiamine with breakfast. I continue reading and watching gluten free items that I eat. Breakfast is Bobs Redmill gluten-free oatmeal with Chobani zero sugar yogurt a banana and blueberries. Lunch since im at a deli gluten-free is hard to come by so I stick with turkey with gluten-free Promise bread. Dinner varies like gluten-free pasta, tacos, chicken, sausage, meat etc. rice or take out from gluten-free places. I have decided to stay away from gluten-free pizza as I feel I felt weird with it unless its store bought frozen. I am going to try to make my own gluten-free bread, Bagels. I have been good with baking gluten-free treats like cookies, muffins. Snacks if its not fruit, veggies I grab a protein bar or chocolate guilty pleasure reeses, hersheys, York PP. I am going to start to use my fitness pal app to track what I eat and note when I feel off to see if I can pinpoint if a trend of a certain gluten-free food is a culprit. I noticed once in a while I feel a little bloated, gassy that I think is from the pizza so I am going to avoid it and continue narrowing it down. I have been doing very well and I have learned even if you think you are doing everything 100% gluten-free eating it can sneak in without you knowing. This year is more traveling which im afraid of but have already looked into gluten-free places in Nashville which they have and back to Aruba I went last year and have the gluten-free places already selected. Most restaurants I have been to have been very helpful with what to stay away from to avoid CC. If a place states they don't have any gluten-free the I stick with a salad or when I took my kids to breakfast as much as I miss the breakfast this place serves I played it safe with yogurt and a fruit bowl so at least my kids were happy to go there again. Local farmers market has great gluten-free items that I treat myself to like different types of breads, baked goods. My journey continues...

After waisted time of new care team, yet again EXHAUSTED saw new gi today in Modesto, though all my ailments im not getting any kind of concern of me being celiac and sentive to just about everything since menopause. Dr daid why don't I go see you guys because my blood shows zero for celiac. I told him im glutenfree since 1994 by colonoscopy with biopsy positive celiac sprue by GI.Its RIDICULOUS when im bringing in material from this site of knowledge as well as the autoimmune institute, and  there's zero interest on their part.Medical IS causing me depression.Im view as a disability chaser, IM STILL RECOVERING from being a bus driver that im still healing and having more issues, now I may have multiple sclerosis or meningioma. Ive reached out, wrote letters, NOT feeling well. This is inhumane.
