Hi,

I would love to know if any meetups or potential for support group in Louisville KY? I tried Gluten Free Louisville, but the site does not seem to be updated and their application will not come up when I try to view/print. Not sure if they are still active.

Did you try this site? Open Original Shared Link

The group is still active. Give an officer a call if you have ?'s.

You don't need to send in a application. Just show up at the next meeting and they'll give you an app.

Usually meeets 2nd Thurs. of the month if I remember right. Jan. is not listed on the site but go ahead and give someone a call or send an e-mail.

Hi egallag,

I'm in the Louisville group, and our meeting is this Thursday, 1/12 at 7pm at Baptist East. We meet in the Education Wing on the second floor. You don't have to be a member to come to the meetings. :)This Thursday is pancake/waffle night! :P

We also have a google group...kinda like a local email discussion board:

Sorry I missed this one, but I will be there in February! Thanks for the info.

No problem! Our meeting got cancelled anyway because of the weather. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
