Needing a better, quicker, easier way to make portable power food, I ran across the Cuisinart Egg Cooker in my local Bed Bath and Beyond. Cost is $29.99.

I was skeptical.

Boiling eggs is always hit and miss for me. Too long, they are too hard. Almost impossible to be too short, so usually just too hard most of the time.

I bought the egg cooker and couldn't be happier.

It cooks up to 7 eggs at a time.

I tried 5 eggs first, then a batch of 7. Both batches turned out perfect.

They take about 10 minutes from start to finish.

Very minimal cleanup.

I can't recommend high enough rating. It's helping me every single day.

Do you cook them in the shell?

Yes, you poke a tiny hole in the large end of the shell with a little tool provided, pour a small amount of water - think 2 ounces or less - in the base of the cooker, put the eggs standing up in a little holder rack with the big part up, turn on and walk away. It basically steams the water out of the base and the eggs turn out beautifully hard boiled within about 10 minutes.

I have had one of these for a few years now and love it. Use it all the time. It always cooks the eggs perfectly. The base will have a residue in it after cooking the eggs...I let it cool down and put a little vinegar in there and just wipe it out.

And you can put the top of it on your head and pretend you are a Viking. ;)

      I have been looking for new dishes. I was surprised to find dishes made of wheat straw. Are these safe for us? I'm very careful to avoid products that may contain gluten. I never thought I might have to check for wheat in dishes.
