Nasty Intestinal Flu

Piccolo

Hi Guys,

I don't log in often but thought you'd all know what to do. I've had an intestinal flu bug and anything I eat just goes through me. I just started to eat again, but what is the best way to plug me up. I just want to get back to normal and get back to work. I am feeling so much better now and just need to gain the lost weight back.

Susan

Glad to see you're doing a bit better :)

I got hit a month or so ago, and it was nasty.

Hi Susan:). Glad you're feeling better, stomach flu is awful. I'm sure you are eating bland, soothing things like bananas, baked potatoes, tea, etc.

If it were me (and everyone may not agree) I would try Immodium. Just to stop the diarrhea and let your system settle back down. A day or two should do it.

Take care:)

I'm of the personal opinion that stomach flu is why God created Imodium. ;)

Do what you gotta do, baby! Rice, potatoes, peanut butter, tea. Soft, soothing,

doesn't-hurt-on-the-way-out food. :P

Soups, crackers, baked potatoes.

I have a major craving for French fries when sick.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
