ARCHIVED I Miss Beer
killernj13 replied to mcc0523's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That is pretty narrowminded concerning Red Bridge - with such limited choices you should at least try it. As far as the Mikes Lemonade - from what I read last year the light one was the one that they had tested by a third party. However, I believe they claimed on their website that they use the same process on all brands so if one was gluten-free then... -
ARCHIVED I Miss Beer
killernj13 replied to mcc0523's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I did drink Mike's Lemonade last summer as they are stating their process removes the gluten despite it being a malt beverage and did not get sick from those. -

ARCHIVED Brown Rice Syrup And Arsenic
killernj13 replied to suziq0805's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I saw the story on the news related the arsenic to brown rice and brown rice syrup. The amount of brown rice in gluten free foods was the first thing I thought of. -

ARCHIVED So Hershey's Miniatures Aren't Gluten Free?
killernj13 replied to livelifelarge24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The confusion with the holiday candies is the Resses Peanut Butter cups holiday version have contained wheat in the past. Recently, I have not noticed that and they have been OK. The overall problem with Hershey from what I have read here is they don't guarantee the food to be gluten-free due to cross contamination and protecing their suppliers and their... -
ARCHIVED Amazing Las Vegas Trip!
killernj13 replied to WinterSong's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I went to Vegas in November - here are some of the places I ate. Todd English P.U.B - outside the Aria - had Strongbow Cider. Server was very knowledgeable of gluten-free choices informed me of the carvery station they offer (no bread obviously) and what sauces were ok and not ok. Checked on the soup my wife had (Butternut squash or something like that... -
Well, I can only comment from a celiac disease perspective. If you have celiac disease you can't have mainstream beer so I don't think you will get many replys. I admit I don't know if gluten intolerant means you can have it occasionally. If that is that case then maybe someone will reposnd.

I may be wrong but wouldn't getting the blood test while following the gluten free diet give you a bad result? Or that could be the scope of the intestine. I am sure someone else can offer an opinion. There are gluten free beers out there so you can still have beer and avoid the gluten. Red Bridge, Bards, Greens, New Grist etc

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beer-Daura
killernj13 replied to Spartans1960's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This beer is brewed with barley and they make that claim that the gluten is mostly removed in the process. They claim it is tested and is below the 6PPM level which is well below the 20PPM requirement in the US. With that all said I had it twice and it made me sick both times so it is off my list. Mike's Lemonade in making the same claim with it's products... -

You are correct they do not carry items specifically marketed as Gluten Free. They did carry a three pak of Enviornz Kids Cereal a couple years ago but no longer. However, you can find your normal products that are gluten free but not marketed as. Here are a few I can remember off the top of my head: Indiana Co Popcorn a couple brands of Tortilla chips... -

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Sodas?
killernj13 replied to gwo8's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am sure it is extremely tough on an 8 yr old. WOW - it is on adults as well. You have probably heard this before but you need to focus on the foods he can have. Chipolte is a great alternative to Taco Bell as many of their meals can be served in a bowl. Also, for an alternative to KFC places like Red Robin's and Cheeseburger in Paradise are offering... -
