You must be reacting to something else in the product....and what that is I just couldn't make a guess at. There is no gluten, imaginary or real, in the vast majority of dental products. You can never say never 100% on anything in life but if there was gluten in tooth polish/paste at the dentist, I would be reacting to it because I have my teeth cleaned...

You posted before I did but I had to respond to one statement you made here.......the last one about it wouldn't take much for you to avoid the dentist. Maybe an underlying fear of dental procedures could have upset your gut enough that it messed with your gut balance? It wouldn't be the first time. You should see what happens with my blood pressure when...

I'll address this directly to avoid wasting time I do not have.......I have had more dental work than most of the Celiacs on this forum combined. There is not a dental procedure I have not had done because I triggered for Celiac at a very young age and have the dental damage to prove it. I spent a month researching this and calling the few dental suppliers...

ARCHIVED Need Help With Tests Results Please
Gemini replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Geez! I was getting tired from all the 28 year old energy popping off this post! This is the post of a recovered person. You are moving and thinking of another degree and that requires energy and stamina....which you clearly have enough of now! Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday back at ya, enjoy all that food and good luck with your move and education... -
I think Addy is spot on with her response. No one should put up with that type of behavior.....I mean, he came out and insulted you to your face. Staying, in my mind, is just being an enabler. I would not yell back or be anything but calm BUT I would leave and spend Christmas with those you really enjoy being around and who treat you with the respect you...

Hi Emani.......I was like you. I was 94 pounds at diagnosis and not absorbing anything. All the villi were gone. It will take awhile for this to settle down so please try and be patient. It took me 6 months before I had noticeable weight gain. I have been gluten-free for almost 9 years and am doing fine. I weight train in the gym with a trainer and...

ARCHIVED One Advantage Of Celiac, No Need To Shave Legs
Gemini replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Your circulation would have to be next to non-existent to cause hair loss. There are lots of people walking around less than optimal circulation and they are fine. Hair loss on the arms of any younger woman is not normal but it happens as we age. Lots of older folks in their late 70's and on tell me that they no longer have hair growth on their legs AND... -
ARCHIVED One Advantage Of Celiac, No Need To Shave Legs
Gemini replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This is usually a sign of a hormonal deficiency in younger people and is a part of the natural aging process in older people....over 75-80 years old. Hormones can be very low in that age group but if you are younger, it's a sign there's a deficiency. It has very little to do with circulation. -

Now THIS is a beautiful answer! Ha, Ha! -
ARCHIVED Do You "display" Your Diagnoses?
Gemini replied to tonalynn's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Nope...I don't feel the need to display anything. I just moved on and live my life....and enjoy helping out new Celiac's adapt and move on also. -

ARCHIVED Is It Safe To Drink Green Tea?
Gemini replied to CynthiaSt's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Cynthia.....if you have not been tested for adrenal issues, then there is no reason to avoid caffeine unless you notice that it bothers you. Not to mention there is not much caffeine in tea to begin with, compared to brewed coffee. No one should ever take supplements for adrenal or thyroid issues unless you have been tested for and found to have a need for... -
ARCHIVED Aricept For Celiac-Induced Neuro Symptoms?
Gemini replied to Integrous's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I agree with everything IrishHeart told you. It takes a long while to see improvement from neuro symptoms, once you go gluten free. You have to be very strict with your diet and make sure you are not ingesting any gluten. But you can have marked improvement with the gluten free diet, once the inflammation starts to settle down. I had severe dizzy spells... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Bread
Gemini replied to Catrinarod's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I second bartfull's choice of bread. It's the best and my freezer is loaded with it. My husband makes great gluten-free bread from scratch but there are times when we don't have time. This bread is moist and very hard to tell from gluten filled bread......really! -
There has been a lot of talk on here about taking digestive enzymes and I found this article on EPI that was very interesting and does a great job of explaining what happens and who is at risk of developing it. I use enzymes myself because I knew I had developed this condition from long undiagnosed Celiac. There is also a lsiting of other disease states...

ARCHIVED How Do You Deal With The "haters"?
Gemini replied to Glittersmith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A really good answer for that is...." No, actually, it isn't. It contains wheat!" And say it with a smile on your face....that always gets them. I always just use the opportunity, when dealing with snarky people, to turn it around on them. And if I can make their head explode with my answer, I know I have done a good job. I don't think they are "haters... -
I challenge your statement that all gluten free processed foods are to be avoided because they too processed. I don't know what you are looking at but here in the States, the ones I do consume have very few ingredients and no chemicals and other nasties that are commonly found in mainstream gluten filled processed foods. Not all processed foods are created...

ARCHIVED Results From Blood Test
Gemini replied to Burndee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
With a positive tTg and EMA, it's pretty much a slam dunk for Celiac Disease. You are lucky to have discovered the problem in a child so young, before years of damage are done. Just be aware that in a child so young, the biopsy could come back negative because it can take a long time for enough damage to accumulate for a GI doctor to find. Whether or not... -

ARCHIVED Bad Time At The Gastroenterologist's - To Biopsy Or Not To Biopsy?
Gemini replied to KCG91's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If your tTg IgA levels go down on the gluten-free diet, then you can pretty much assume that Celiac is the root cause. It can take awhile for antibodies to go down, so be patient. tTg can be elevated with other autoimmune issues also but I would imagine you would have other symptoms of these. It is more probable that you would have false negative, as opposed... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Had Raynauds Syndrome Improve On Gluten Free Diet?
Gemini replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, Diana, I have Reynaud's and it has improved tremendously on the gluten-free diet. My fingers used to blanch and turn white when exposed to the cold and now, I can tolerate the cold much, much better. They do not turn white and numb nearly as much as they used to and it's only the very fingertips that are affected. I can also reach into the freezer... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed, Underweight, Stomach Inflammation, gas
Gemini replied to CynthiaSt's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would not start any exercise at the moment, aside from walking in the fresh air. I would wait until you are feeling better. Don't try and do too many things at once when you are recovering from Celiac. I do not have, or have had in the past, any acid reflux problems, which is really a miracle. I did eat well pre-diagnosis and didn't eat fast food... -
ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed. Kind Of In Denial About It.
Gemini replied to Laudahwiz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A couple of things you should know.......asthma is often another disease that has it's roots in Celiac Disease. Open Original Shared Link You may want to have your son tested. I have asthmatics in my family but they are not interested in knowing if they have Celiac. You should not make duplicate meals....ever. It's not a good idea for a Celiac to... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy?
Gemini replied to AudraH's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
WHA????????? Do you not have insurance to cover this? $10,000.00 is insane and I just would not pay it. It should never cost that much...even in the US where some docs charge a lot of money. I would definitely push back on that one because that is just not right. The other price quoted by powerofpositivethinking is much more in line with a fair price...
