  1. If you need to take your food, just pack a lunch in put in an appropriate container to match the way you are dressed. If you throw it in a towsack & carry it in over your should it might be noticed !!! No need to worry about eating your lunch discreetly, granted you might not want to stand on top of the table & yell out "anyone want my left...
  2. regardless of the biopsy, she still has celiac from the postitive blood test. Yes, your son should be on the same diet, I think ulcerative colitis is just a complication of celiac/gluten problem... I think the most imporatant thing is to just take the flour canister to the trash because it poofs up & gets in the air & you can breathe it in ...
  3. The growth hormones are a hard call, I in no way know your situation... but I would encourage you to cut out dairy. No one needs to drink milk "to make their bones grow" It is just another one of those things that we have "bought" into. I cannot remember all the stuff about dairy & wheat but somehow when you are eating wheat it protects the gut...
  4. wanted to say that dairy sometimes causes constipation for a lot of us. If you take out dairy do not add in soy milk, no one really needs that stuff, & no one needs dairy especailly with seizures I sent you a PM
  5. Jkittels, glad your daughter is doing well after the procedure. You need to throw the wheat flour in the trash, if you use it in the house, it poofs up & your daughter can breathe it in & it settles on everything. Just keep reading & get yourself some books like Gluten Free for Dummies, Dangerous Grains, Kids with celiac Disease by Donna Korn...
  6. zarfkitty, I just saw that you are in Austin. ThatChickAli is a new dxd person that also lives in Austin, she is getting ready to go to college in Lubbock. If you have time, would you PM her to offer any support? Thanks, I was in austin one weekend & took her through the Grocery store... I sent her the link to the Austin support group, but not sure...
  7. Thanks for the post, looks like I will be a new customer !!!!
  8. bbuster, have you checked for other food intolerances with your son? You might consider grain free except for rice... Some people do not respond to the regular gluten-free diet with all the gluten free grains and stuff. Do you know which genes he has? That might be a good clue to his situation. Is he dairy free & soy free? I have a grandson...
  9. most corn chips are okay. sounds like your house is pretty safe. Are you making sure that you are washing your hands after you touch a flour tortilla before touching his plate/food? what about play doh? Lotions? Shampoo? your hand cream & makeup? Toothpaste? BTW they say that children should just brush with water & then floss. I hate the...
  10. If your house is not gluten free are you cooking with wheat flour? Have you double checked everything that you are feeding him? He might need to be dairy free also. Have you thought about testing for all of that thru enterolab.com? I really think that if your house is not gluten-free then that is the problem. It is hard...
  11. Where are the bento boxes made? I am leary of China & plastic. Heck I am leary of anything made in China that might come near my food... Also, I guess ya'll did know that it came out a year or so ago that those vinyl lunch boxes with the plastic on the top that depicted an action hero or something were all very high in lead, inside the lunch box...
  12. I wonder if in your situation that your doc would take her own advice!!! I really think not. I think that you will feel a ton better gluten-free & will be like all of us once gluten-free there is no way that CC is not going to make you sick as a dog. really it is what you want to do, nothing to do with your doctor. the doc is not the one whose...
  13. being gluten intolerant can still lead to villi damage, remember that 1% to 3% of positive biopsy that do not have DQ2 ot DQ8. I am double DQ1 & I consider myself at risk... my mother died of colon cancer my double DQ1 friend had positive biopsy & has osteoporosis & HS so if you think gluten intolerance is a "light sentence" think...
  14. Well I hope that bee had not been sitting on anyone's wheaty food
  15. yep, sounds like the gall bladder. You might want to try going grain and dairy free for a bit...
  16. Dietary trial is the ultimate diagnosis, nothing else is really needed. A negative biopsy just means that they did not see any abnormality in the tissue samples that they took. You could still have villi damage, it can be patchy & they might not have biopsied that area. Also, the biopsy is up to the doc's interpretation, did he read it right???? I...
  17. Oh, I am so sorry that you are going thru a rough patch. You never know what is going to trigger a child. Did you eat any of the wedding cake? Maybe next time if you two could have your special treat.... Kids just want to be like the ones they idolize, their mom & the beautiful princess bride... If this type situation ever arose again, (or...
  18. I am gluten free & dairy Free & mostly grain free. I am not trying glutenease or lactose pills etc. Just something to waste your money on while compromising your health...
  19. I also love horses & ride in the trail ride here in Houston sometimes. i took riding lessons a few years ago, but stayed away from the grains, it is usually stored in barrels with lids (to keep out the rats & other varmints I mostly like to do the trail ride photography & I also scrapbook. I say go for it, riding is an excellent thing...
  20. One tiny thing is enough to make these kids sick. I also suggest you keep wipes in the car & wash hands as soon as you get home. I have gotten cross contamination from my computer keyboard after my computer repair guy left & I was sitting here eating a snack... Another thing is to keep them out of bakeries & places that use flour, it is really...
  21. Is your home completely gluten-free? Are you cooking with wheat flour in the house??? Have you double checked things that he is eating? Did you completely clean out your kitchen of things like chopping boards, wooden spoons, rubber spatulas, colanders, scratched up teflon pans, old baking pans, when you went gluten free? Are you in contact with your...
  22. I do not know about multi vitamins, I do not take one. I always have problesm with them... But I do take a B12 everyday & can tell when I miss it. If I were you I would just start with a sublingual B12, just make sure it is gluten free
  23. I think enterolab is the only way to go with children that young. I do not want to hurt your feelings but I think that gluten is not good for anyone, especially kids that have parents with the problem and the siblings of gluten problem kids. but it is a process you might come to that conclusion on your own in time... You can only take one step at a time...
  24. you could also just test thru Enterolab.com
  25. yep, your doctor needs help!!! The gene test at Enterolab.com is only $99.00, I think, might be cheaper there than at your docs office. I wound not be giving him any of my time or money
