  1. Praying for you and your mom. Thanks for letting us know, keep us posted.
  2. The worst part of mine was the throat numbing spray. It tasted like paint fumes and diesel fuel mixed smell like, and almost triggered an asthma attack. I was completely under, don't remember any of it, and came home and slept for several hours afterward. I had no pain after it was over. My doc only took 3 samples, but he used a camera scope, and only...
  3. Those kinds of meals are very frustrating. Many times, I find that if I just get up and start cooking for myself, I really get into it and enjoy myself. It is just that it is so hard to get up and start cooking!
  4. Welcome to the board! I have 3 cats, and I buy them glutenfree food, that way I don't have to worry about it. I wouldn't throw out the microwave, just clean it very well.
  5. Mine is strictly weather related. When the barometric pressure changes, I get dizzy and fall over. Thankfully, it only lasts about half an hour, then my body adjusts.
  6. Yep, I get absolutely ravenous some days. I am an overweight celiac, so when I eat all day, people really look at me weird! I have found that if I eat high fiber fruit, mainly apples, I do get the full feeling that lets me stop the starvation binge. It is just something we have to learn to deal with, and I am open for suggestions!
  7. My husband was going to tell me that I could not eat something (I forget what it was), because the label said "processed in a facility that processes wheat." I pointed out to him that, technically, everything I eat is processed in a facility that processes wheat, since I am the only one in my home that is glutenfree. And while I do not have rat poison in...
  8. I get sharp and excruciating pains in my right foot. I have a broken bone in it that the doc said it would do no good to fix, and I have RA and OA, so I think that my pain is just a progression of the diseases combined with the break.
  9. As far as I know, celiac does not cause vomiting. Not everyone gets diarrhea from it, probably half of us get constipation. Pain in your upper right side about half an hour after eating could be gallbladder problems. Since your tests came back positive, you will be healthier eating glutenfree all of the time, not just when you experience symptoms.
  10. It's like going through detox. Your body is having to flush out all of the gluten, then your immune system has to have time to shut down all of the overreactions. You will have withdrawal symptoms, when the cravings for gluten feel like they will destroy you. You have to stand your ground, refuse to surrender! It will take a while, maybe a few months...
  11. It would be worse. The more gluten you eat, the longer your misery is drawn out.
  12. I get that pinching pain. I didn't get it until after my gallbladder was removed, so I thought maybe it was related to that.
  13. I just recently learned from my sister that my mom was celiac and knew it. She wouldn't give up her breads, though. She died in 2004, at the age of 63. She had been in and out of intensive care for 1 1/2 years, with ruptured bowels. She didn't get to see my youngest two kids graduate, nor did she get to see my grandson. I want to rock my greatgrandchildren...
  14. Stick to the diet and do exercises. I have celiac and RA, and I noticed a difference in the inflammation levels when I went glutenfree. Have you used the ibuprofen treatment for mild symptoms? The steroids are not where I would begin for treatment. I don't think the medrol will hurt your small intestine, I took a course of it for an infection about a...
  15. BK is pretty good about accomodating me when I ask for a burger with no bun. They fix it in a small bowl, and make sure there were no crumbs first. My only complaint is that one time, I asked for a regular whopper with no bun, and was charged double for it because it was an Atkins-friendly "meal". You just have to be careful and ask!!
  16. Well, I did learn something today! Thanks for the head's-up on the beano/mold/penicillin thing. I will have to stay away from it!
  17. Do your research now, so you will be prepared. Let us know how the testing turns out.
  18. 2006? Is that when the labels have to be changed by? I have noticed that they are changing. I thought it was just because I was actually paying attention for once!
  19. Everyone here is right. A little bit of gluten to a celiac is like a little bit of rat poison to a mouse.
  20. Have some {{{hugs}}}!! I'm allergic to rice and tree nuts, and soy messes with my hormone levels! I use a flour blend of one cup each of garbanzo bean flour, potato flour, corn starch, and tapioca flour. I haven't found a decent bread yet, and I am not sure I ever will, so I just do without it.
  21. There is a list somewhere on the site, but I don't remember what it is under. I do remember that most wines were gluten-free.
  22. Hi Michelle! The three contras I listed are the ones that I might have a problem with. I can't afford $74 a month for Lexapro, and I prefer natural products, anyway. I always seem to have problems with prescription drugs! If you have more info on 5-HTP, I would love to read it! I am looking for information, not a debate, so I won't hassle you over whatever...
  23. It's summertime, and so I share my cpu time with my kids, so I don't get on as much as I like to. When I find pages and pages, I pick and choose what I read, just as the others have said. During the school year, I read most of the threads. Of course, since we have so many more posters now, that might change!
  24. He's adorable! Whenever you schedule picture-taking is when your toddler will fall and get a nice, dark bruise on the face!
