  1. This is precisely the test I have been looking for! What's even better, I can order without my doctor's permission! Thank you!
  2. I guess I am very fortunate. My family all saw how my mom died because she ate whatever she wanted to, so they are very supportive of me. My inlaws have had to deal with food allergies and intolerances for years, so they understand and are supportive of me. Sometimes, people have to go through it themselves to truly understand. It is very possible that...

    ARCHIVED Great Appointment Today

It is wonderful that you are feeling so much better! I am glad that your doctor understands and is so good about it!
  4. I don't know. I thought she would repost it in her opening post, but she didn't. There are a lot of new posts each time I come on, so I could very well have just missed it.
  5. This is a good question to ask yourself. Mine was a 10, very debilitating. You have to decide for yourself, then see a doctor. If it is AS, you will need to know that, so you can get treatment. Knowing is 90% of the battle!
  6. This article was most interesting, thank you for posting the link to it!
  7. Yes, Christine, I am quite sensitive. Within minutes of getting glutened, my sinuses swell, in 20 minutes I am almost doubled over with pain. The protein in oats is very similar to the one in wheat, so some people do react to oats. It is something that you have to try for yourself. If it scares you, or you are just not comfprtable with trying it, then...
  8. Ditto Peter. If I don't have anything different or of value to add, why should I post?
  9. I have RA, but the factor does not show in my blood, so my doc refuses to treat it. I eat beef and pork, I did not notice any difference in flares when I did an elimination diet. I did not get any improvement when I went gluten-free, either. I do lots of stretches for flexibility, and have started lifting things (not formal weights) trying to add strength...
  10. I do think it is fun to read the posts where the initials were supposed to mean something else. Quite funny!
  11. I was doing WW, but I have really slacked off. My doc said WW is the best for me, it is the only one that is flexible enough to accomodate my restrictions. I have a problem with flex: gluten-free flours are very high in points, so I wasn't getting much to eat. I am going to try core, but first I have to have money to sign back up!
  12. I had the rib pain. It went away after my gall bladder was removed. You need to have a doctor test you to see what it is.
  13. I eat McCann's, and >only< McCann's oatmeal with no problems.
  14. Maybe I'm just extremely skeptical, maybe it's just because I have bad reactions to drugs, but I would still choose the diet. If others want to use it, and it really works, then I am glad for them!
  15. My pain was always on the lower left. It felt like someone had grabbed my intestine and was twisting it. It interfered with breathing, the slightest movement magnified the pain.
  16. I used Zyrtec, it worked fairly well for me. Then I tried Claritin, which doesn't touch mine. Allegra just gives me smashing headaches. I like the Patanol for my eyes (I can see! I can see!), but the AquaCort spray caused massive sores in my nasal passages.
  17. Silly? Nope. I would have done the same thing. Sometimes I am downright paranoid about contamination.
  18. I use Great Value brand with no problem. Could you actually be reacting to the tomato itself?
  19. I use Equate brand multi-symptom cold relief, nighttime formula.
  20. >raising hand<

    ARCHIVED Health Insurance

I agree with Robbin, get the insurance before the diagnosis. If you do a search through the boards, you will find several threads where we discussed insurance, and the increased premiums and refused coverage that went with a formal celiac diagnosis.
  22. I also eat cheetos with no problems. I like the big fluffy ones better than the crunchy and hot ones.
  23. And then you have people like me, who are very allergic to rice. Before I knew rice was one of my problems, I tried it in my baking. The results were very gritty, and not at all light and fluffy. I prefer my blends of other flours.
  24. I was told that celiac is caused by a lack of a specific digestive enzyme, and that the resulting reaction is what causes the intestinal wall to be super-permeable. Stopping the permeability of the intestinal wall is not going to stop the celiac reaction. I will need to see a WHOLE LOT more research on this before I will consider such a pill to be viable...
  25. The diet itself is the best test. Try it for 3-6 months, if you get better, stick with it. You don't need a doctor to do that for you. Ask us questions, let us know how you are doing!
