  1. I was not out all the way, but I do not remember any part of it. When I got home, I sat in my little recliner and slept for several hours. It does take a while for the anesthesia to completely wear off, so just lie down and take it easy! Let us know on the results, we would like to hear the good, bad, and even indifferent.
  2. With all of the fad diets and the excuses made up for going on them, people do not understand the very real need for a "strict" diet. Also, it is becoming more and more socially acceptable to have a mental disorder. Having a mental disorder means something is beyond control, and therefore removes the accountability factor. How sad that your family prefers...
  3. My daughter works at a McDonald's, and she told me not to eat the fries. Nothing against the fries themselves, but she said I would be totally shocked at the number of times they accidently drop a chicken nugget into the fry basket. She saw me sick from getting a malt when I ordered a shake, and she is now as paranoid as I am about what I eat! She fixes...
  4. No, no eating or drinking. Your intestines need to be as empty as possible. The doc needs to be able to see the lining clearly, and get good, clean samples. Even drinking a little bit of something will turn on acid jets in your stomach, and make the hunger unbearable. Hang tight, it will be over soon! {{{hugs}}}
  5. Some of us are so used to brain fog, that it sometimes takes reading a post twice just to understand it! If the duplicate posts are on the same thread, we usually just disregard them. I think Scott is the only one that can delete an entire post.
  6. I'm afraid I can't help you. I was totally shocked that I tested out of Basic Cpu Skills for online college. Now I need to figure out how to install MS Office 2003.

    ARCHIVED Quote Of The Day

Nisla, you must have been seeing my doctor, as that is exactly what she said to me! And I fired her, and went to a completely different clinic.
  8. You say you are eating corn flakes and/or rice krispies every day, with a teeny bit of malt flavoring in them. Well, then, you never really went glutenfree, did you? As long as you never >really< go gluten-free, you will never >really< see how it impacted your health. Yes, most of the time damage to the intestines will reverse itself, but you...
  9. No, they are not the same. I forget which is which, but one is made from raw potatoes, and the other from cooked potatoes, so they have different properties. I only use the potato starch flour, but it really depends on what recipe you are using. In some of the recipes the two are interchangeable, but not in all.
  10. I was always, always, ALWAYS constipated, never had diarrhea as a celiac reaction. I have been glutenfree for a little over 2 years, and got contaminated a week ago. It was the very first time ever that celiac caused me to have diarrhea. Talk to your doctor, tell him you want an endoscopy just to look and make sure nothing is wrong. My endo was ordered...
  11. Scratch tests only tell part of the story. For reactions other than IgE, you need a blood test. What you are describing is indicative of an allergy, just not an anaphylactic one. Ask your doctor to do a blood test for allergies.
  12. {{{{hugs}}}} By all means, come here and complain. We understand how you feel, and I, for one, will listen. Sometimes just having someone to tell it to helps!
  13. Our pets get it the same way we do: genetics. I am not surprised, since they are carnivores! I enjoyed reading the satire and humor!
  14. My liver enzymes were in the very low end of the normal range last time they were tested. Doc said it was perfectly normal, but I started taking herbs to treat sluggish liver, and I feel much better!
  15. I find this a most interesting discussion! Thank you for your input, all of you!
  16. If that's so, Tiff, then the ingredients have been changed since I sold MK. Thanks for the update!
  17. Thank you, everyone. Your posts are very encouraging to me, as I struggle with my weight.
  18. The germs and viruses have most likely mutated into something you have not built up immunity to, and that is why you are sick so much this year. Your body is building immunities now, and you will probably not be sick next year. Tiffany, your moving to a new state means being exposed to a new set of germs, and your body needs time to acclimate. This would...
  19. I had a cat that had celiac. She was very small and thin, always had diarrhea, and would meow in a painful sounding way sometimes. I spoke to the vet about it, and she said my cat was lacking the digestive enzyme required to eat wheat-based food, and that it is very common in cats. I said, "You mean my cat has Celiac Disease?!?" I switched her to a non...
  20. So maybe it is the ELISA Test that I want? It is a blood test that I want, but my allergist refused to do it, he only does scratch tests on the skin. A friend of mine had a blood test done years ago that helped him immensely, but I don't remember the name of it! I will have to keep looking!
  21. Go back to your doctor and request a celiac panel and biopsy. It could be that your doctor thinks celiac is extremely rare, and has just not looked into it. If you can't get the tests from your doc, then go to another one. If you don't want to mess with doctors and tests, just try the gluten-free diet for a couple of months and see how you feel. Many...
  22. I used to sell Mary Kay. The only makeups gluten free are the face powders and eye powders. They have wheat in almost all of it. They also use a lot (and I mean LOT!) of different herbs, so they might be causing a bad reaction, too.
  23. Pregnancy puts an immense pressure on the stomach and esophagus. I had trouble with eating each time I was pregnant because of it. It could be the revival of your choking is only because of the pregnancy.
  24. I have to agree with this post. "First do no harm" is supposed to be the doctor's motto, but when it comes to celiac, very few follow it. You have a positive on the dietary test, which is a valid scientific test. If you want to challenge, eat one or two slices of bread on a day when you have a week to give up to being sick. If you are sick, you will know...
