ARCHIVED A Class Action Suit Against Mcds...
plantime replied to Cheri A's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Yeah, you are saying that we can't blame everyone except ourselves for things we do! -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's Fries - New Poll
plantime replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I'm thinking the increase in yes votes would be because the panic has worn off, and testing has been done. I still don't know, for me, but that may be because I am trying to lose weight, and fries are not good for that! -
ARCHIVED Cure For Ibs ?
plantime replied to marciab's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's ok, Marcia. With some of the doctors that some of us have had, we have learned to patiently explain things over and over. As the fog clears, you will understand! -
ARCHIVED Blood Pressure
plantime replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I do know that a food allergy reaction will cause bp to spike or bottom out, so I do believe that celiac will do the same thing. Mine used to be quite low, now it is in the normal range. I was so used to the low, that the normal feels weird! -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy & Biopsy Question
plantime replied to yunalesca's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Try the diet, see if you feel better. Just keep in mind that it sometimes takes a month or more to feel the difference. I recommend giving the diet 6 weeks. Stay on the board, and keep us posted! -
ARCHIVED Inhaling Gluten
plantime replied to lemonade's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree, I agree!! If you need a gluten cake, just go buy one. It will be much easier, and less risky, all the way around. -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's Fries - New Poll
plantime replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I voted undecided on this one. I need more time to read the test results for myself. I didn't react to the fries when I ate them before, but I only eat them at the McD's my daughter works at! -
ARCHIVED Just A Funny Story
plantime replied to GlutenFreeAl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you for sharing, all of you, I enjoyed the laugh! -
ARCHIVED Mrs. Leeper's/ Corn Rotelli
plantime replied to skurtz's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You're welcome. Glad I could help. I love mac and cheese, and will put tuna in my pasta any time! I will have look for the helper meals from Mrs. Leeper's. So far, I can only find the pasta. -
ARCHIVED Negative Biopsy Positive Ttg
plantime replied to BillW's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Mild flattening is still flattening. It is like being a little bit pregnant. Your doctor failed to realize that your celiac was caught at the beginning of the damage. This means less healing is needed, so you will be better in a shorter length of time on a gluten-free diet! -
I was always, always, always constipated! Even after going gluten-free! I tried fiber supplements, they just made it worse. Castor oil and such helped a little bit. Then a herbal healer friend suggesting taking herbs to stimulate a sluggish liver, and by golly!, it's like a miracle! Regular, daily stools, and not near as tired and worn out as before...

ARCHIVED Cure For Ibs ?
plantime replied to marciab's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Were you tested for Celiac? Many times, celiac has been misdiagnosed as IBS. If a the diet you are following makes you feel better, then you are most likely intolerant of something that you were eating, and that is what was causing your pain. Many of us started gluten-free trying to find a "cure" for our illnesses. -
ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
plantime replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
If the parents are trying to use their child to get money out of McDonald's, I have some sad news for the parents! The courts will tie up any money the kids get in trust funds until the kids are 18, and the parents won't get any of it. If any of it is to be used for medical bills, the court trustee will decide how much, and pay it directly to the hospital... -
ARCHIVED 14 Years gluten-free! :)
plantime replied to flagbabyds's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Happy GlutenFree Day!! -
ARCHIVED Went To The Gastroenterologist And Now Im Confused And Embarrassed
plantime replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't agree with getting another doc. Let this one learn the hard way that he is wrong. Be the one that shows him the truth about celiacs. My regular doc had to learn the hard way, since she insisted that I was too fat to be celiac. The surgeon that removed my gall bladder learned the hard way, too. They were both surprised by the "ulcer" report from... -
Sounds like you got a great dietician!

ARCHIVED Endoscopy & Biopsy Question
plantime replied to yunalesca's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
As far as I know, only severe damage can be seen without a microscope. Just because the doc didn't see anything doesn't really mean anything. Be patient until your biopsy results, and remember that feeling better on the gluten-free diet is also a positive result. The blood test you had also showed positive. A biopsy cannot give a definite negative, only... -
How long have you been gluten-free? The longer you are gluten-free, the more your body heals, and the more you start absorbing calories. It could be that you need to cut back on your eating, or increase your exercising.

ARCHIVED Mrs. Leeper's/ Corn Rotelli
plantime replied to skurtz's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
MMMmmmmm, Mrs Leeper's corn rotelli is my favorite! To cook it, bring your water to a boil, add the rotelli, then cook for 6 minutes. Drain it immediately. If you cook it longer, or let it sit in the hot water, it becomes mushy and tasteless. Only cook what you will eat at that time, as it does not reheat well for leftovers. -
ARCHIVED Followup Endoscopy
plantime replied to sillyyak's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am not having a followup endo. A- I can't afford it, and B- my GI did not recommend it, since I knew what I had to do and was doing it. He said all he could do with a followup is tell me how much I have healed, and I can learn that just by how I feel. -
Hi Monica! I'm just south of Pittsburg, and north of Columbus. I can't find my atlas, so I'm not able to place where Lawrence is. I'll have to ask my husband when he gets home, or one of my teenagers, they claim to know everything! And enjoy your whirlpool bath, a friend of mine swears by hers!

ARCHIVED Aaaagh! So Careful For So Long Then Drank Beer...
plantime replied to Matilda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am so glad to learn that I am not the only one that has nightmares about this! -
Is your nose running? Are you having a hay fever-type reaction to anything? An allergic reaction to pollens will cause me to have lots of mucus in my stools. And don't be embarrassed by questions about your poop, this is a serious issue for celiacs!

ARCHIVED Heard From York About My Tests
plantime replied to covsooze's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Celiac is a disorder of the immune system, and will cause your body to attack itself, and cause pain all over your body. I can "cause" a severe flare of my RA just by eating a slice of white bread! Your GI doc should be able to help you with the leaky gut, but finding a good doc is sometimes the hardest thing to do. Leaky gut will cause you to have reactions...
