ARCHIVED How To Tell The Bf's Family
almostnrn replied to MistressIsis's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You could maybe write a list of the most important parts down for him so he makes sure to cover them. If he has a hard time explaining it, maybe you guys could print out some info from one of the great online pages explaining it. There is also the option that you could call her (even though you haven't met) and talk to her about it, it may actually be a... -
[ But the authorities felt that she'd sue them if they didn't pursue the case - otherwise they would have dropped the case against the young man; they were afraid that she'd sue the authorities for violating her civil liberties. How about that one....

Melody, I'd stay gluten free if I were you! If for no other reason than it seems to alleviate the vomiting for now. A gluten-free diet is often much healthier than a regular diet anyways as we are forced to eat more natural foods. I can't offer any advice because I never experienced vomiting when I was pregnant. I hope you continue to feel better! Good...

Just as an update it seems as if we have some resolve to the situation finally. To the best of my understanding no charges will be field on my son. We are all relieved and his life seems to bet getting back to normal at school.

ARCHIVED Help! Need To Prepare Kids For Seeing Grandparent Who's Dying
almostnrn replied to AndreaB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I am so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are going out to both of you who are dealing with this right now, it very simply put is one of the most difficult things you will ever deal with. As I was reading over the posts I was trying to reflect on how we just handled going though this with my mom who passed away in March. So instead of trying to impart my... -
I was diagnosed with celiac and DH in Aug 2005 (and thankfully I'm not the one currently pregnant, twice was enough!, lol) I'm convinced my sister has celiac as well but up to this point she has been unwilling to go get tested despite my down right begging, because she doesn't want to have to go on a gluten-free diet. While that in itself is insane, she...

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope they find a solution for you soon!

I had a clinical intstructor in nursing school try to tell me that this was the case with her. How do you correct your professor and the keeper of your clinical grade?! I tried to test the waters and she wouldn't hear of it...there was no way she could be wrong and her student was right. I let it go quickly, lol. Although that does explain a lot of her...

I should graduate in about a year. I had to take some time off of school to care for my mom while she was sick and because my husband was transferred to WP so now I'm in the middle of trying to get into the Wright State program....what a nightmare! I work in the pharmacy at MVH, how funny! I tip my hat to your mom, I don't know if I could do the NICU....

OH Debbie, that was sooo funny and soooo true!!! -
No resolution other than beginning to serve the suspension. Waiting to talk to the lawyer on Monday. I do have this to add though. After a very difficult and frustrating week, I was outside waiting for my 9 year old to get off the bus after school. One of the neighborhood mothers approached me and immediately said.."I need to talk to you about Josh"....

My mom was diagnosed with cancer (lung) last fall. She had 5 affected areas on her brain as well. Now I am not a specialist and I can only speak to my moms case. The oncology team that she had told her that the cancer on her brain was the least of their worries as far as being a treatable condition. They worked on those spots first and were able to eliminate...

I know that the laws are changing some in January but not nearly enough. It makes me insane that companies aren't made to label so many things that they are putting on or around our food. I wish someone would get the fact that hiding this stuff is MAKING US SICK. Thanks for the input on the chicken...I thought I had a good one there.

How funny you mention that, I was just talking to my husband about how much I miss plain old Tollhouse cookies yesterday. I've had other choc. chip cookies, but they just aren't the same! I will try to find some of that flour. Hopefully it will help me to once again become a good baker, lol. I'm afraid I just quit trying to make stuff after a while. ...

ARCHIVED Celiacs Disease And Schools
almostnrn replied to SoulKitten's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I just don't know how you all do it! I am the only celiac (at this point anyways) in my family and as an ADULT its difficult to explain, understand, not get stuff cc, etc., I can't imagine how it is for a child to cope with. I also remember how difficult it was to let my little ones go off and be independant in pre-school and this was without food concerns... -

almostnrn replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yikes, I'm sorry you had such a horrible birthday!!! I have only had one UTI in my life and it was the most miserable experience. I was nauseauted to begin with and then I took the meds to help it. I am hoping you feel better soon. Take it easy for a couple of days, your body needs to heal, and then make up a new birthday this year, you deserve to celebrate... -
Judy, The coaches were NOWHERE to be found, go figure. My husband and I have asked if our son was the only one being punished and told no but because of confidentiality laws they are unable to give us any information about that, just that we need to trust them. I personally think its a load of crap and I don't trust anyone to have my son's best intrest...

I just came from the grocery tonight and I was looking at all of the chicken thinking of you, lol. I found that Pilgrims Pride (we buy it in the commissary at the AF base but I"m sure its available elsewhere) is listed at 100% natural and I didn't see any other added things to it such as salt. I think fresh is going to be your best option, there seems...

Ok so while a completly gluten-free meal would be wonderful, I just have one option for you if you aren't wanting to do that (although it would probably taste better gluten-free ). Instead of whipping up a pie crust from scratch and having all that nasty bad flour flying around your kitchen have you considered trying the pillsbury premade crust? Its usually...

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to comment and your kind words. I have indeed contacted a lawyer so we will see where that goes. Hopefully there will not be any need to pursue it further as I was told by the police officer investigating the situation that the aggressive boy who started the fight (and is now claiming injury) could be charged with...

I am far from a dog expert, but I have to tell you that I believe that dogs behave different ways because of 2 things. First, disposition and it sounds like he is anything but fierce. Second, how he is raised. If you raise him with love and train him I wouldn't think there is any reason to believe he would be a mean dog. Mean dogs are trained to be just...

Nope it was plain white...I wonder if there is something else on the rice that I"m reacting to? I also have to say I can't rule out that the box somehow got contaminated. Whatever it was it happened incredibally fast!
