  1. Happy New Year to you and your family!
  2. I'm sure how long it takes for me, a couple hours maybe. I usually get acid stomach and sharp stabbing pains in the stomach and then it moves to the intestines with sharp stabbing pains there. If it's bad enough I get constipated and I have been known to throw up too. I'm working on being as strict as possible, don't enjoy the side effects.
  3. I haven't posted in a long time but I come here every day. I hope everyone has a healthy and Happy New Year!
  4. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  5. Hang in there. It can take several weeks or even months for your body to heal and symptoms to go away. It's also a possibility that the symptoms you describe are not caused by gluten. I've been gluten free for over a month but still have some problems. I think they're caused by accidentally getting some gluten.
  6. I don't think of food all that much. I do make a point of planning ahead what I will have for the next meal or snack. I make sure that I have foods on hand that I can have.
  7. I'm self disagnosed. I've had "stomach problems" most of my life. But the last couple of years it has gotten much worse. I started getting acid stomach and bloating and gas. The doctor called it IBS. My husband found some information on the Internet about gluten intolerance. When I checked it out and started a gluten free diet the acid stomach has cleared...
  8. Abdominal pain is another one of the symptoms that I get when I eat gluten. That's how I know I have messed up. Gluten free clears it up. I still get a little twinge now and then but I think that's the healing process.
  9. It is definitely one of my symptoms. That's one of the ways that I know I ate some gluten. Bad cramps. It goes away when I am gluten free.
  10. My reflux calmed down within a couple of days. I still take an acid reducer pill once a day. After I've been gluten free for several weeks I will slowly cut back on it. Maybe every other day and then every 2 days and so on. I was gluten free for 6 months last year and only had to take the pill once or twice a week. Then I went off the diet and am now...
  11. I have not had any problems with products that say that.
  12. I will be 54 in July. I'm self diagnosed. I've been on and off the gluten free diet. But I have finally come to terms with it. I feel a whole lot better on it, not 100 percent but better. It just takes time, I believe.
  13. I've been through a bankruptcy in 1999. Our credit is doing good now but it was rough going. If at all possible try to avoid a bankruptcy. Try to talk to your creditors and work something out. As far as the bankruptcy is concerned we just went to a lawyer and they worked it out.
  14. I made the mistake of peeling the skin off of a piece (actually several pieces) of fried chicken thinking that I could get away with it. Didn't work, paid for it later.
  15. Sounds to me like you have classic celiac symptoms. Especially since the rash is starting to clear since going gluten free. The gluten free diet is not easy but it's worth it. You'll better and better the longer you stay on it.
  16. I agree. I'm not having a hard time either. So far I haven't found a gluten free food that I didn't like. I love rice and veggies. My diet has been soooo much better since I went gluten free. More veggies and fruit. Saving a lot of money by not eating out so much.
  17. Gas Alternate between C and D Somach pain Intestinal pain Acid stomach Lots of noise going on in stomach and intestines Bloated feeling tired
  18. I take it you have to handle the charts. What other options would you have other than wearing gloves? Would wiping the charts off make any difference?
  19. I had a problem with eating fruit and raw veggies before I went gluten free. Since I've been gluten free I can eat any veggie or fruit raw or cooked. Seems to be the opposite of everyone else here.
  20. It wouldn't hurt to go dairy free for a while just to see if it's a problem. It might be a temporary problem. Once your body heals you may be able to eat it again. Lactose pills work great for me. You might give them a try too.
  21. My number one symptom was acid stomach. It felt like a hole was being burned in my stomach. A close 2nd was IBS, alternating constipation and diarrhea. Lots of gas too. I've been gluten free for 2 weeks now and most of that has cleared up. The intestines are still a little twitchy but are in the process of calming down.
  22. Last year I started the gluten free diet in October and stayed on it until April. I felt so good I thought maybe I didn't need the diet and that I was wrong to diagnose myself. But, after about 2 months I was so sick. I went to the doc and told him my symptoms and that they cleared up on the gluten free diet. He said it sounded like celiac or gluten intolerance...
  23. I was on a gluten free diet from October of last year until April of this year. I felt really good on it. So good in fact that I (foolishly) thought I didn't need it anymore. That maybe it wasn't gluten intolerance. That my stomach had somehow healed. So I went back to eating wheat. At first I was OK. But, it's been a couple of months now and I'm really...
  24. The last time I was glutened I knew it within a few minutes. I had really bad acid stomach. I hope you feel better soon!
  25. I definitely second the idea of cutting out diary, at least for a while. I always get gas really bad if I get too much dairy. Soy also causes gas in me. It's a process of elimination.
