  1. I hope you feel better soon! It takes 3 or 4 days for me to get over the worst of a glutening. The last time happened about a month ago.
  2. I don't have a problem with Diet Coke but I do have a big problem with the sweetened kind. The High Fructose Corn Syrup tears me up. I get cramps and diarrhea every time I drink one. I hated having to give it up because I love Coke.
  3. Hi! I'm glad you joined us! I'm new at this too so I don't have a lot of advice that I can give you. Did you check out the Celiac.com site? There are a lot of articles there and I think some of your questions will be answered there.
  4. I was never diagnosed with celiac I pretty much diagnosed myself. When I stay off gluten I feel so much better. I really loved baked goods, whole wheat flour and so forth so at first it was difficult. I use alternative flours now, I like qunioa and amaranth the best. I bake bread, cookies, pizza crust and chocolate cake. The taste is different but I...
  5. Hi and welcome. I'm glad you decided to join. I don't post a lot but I come here almost everyday just to read and learn.
  6. I hope you feel better soon. I get stomach pain when I get glutened and it lasts quite a while. I have also found out that I'm lactose intolerant so that can add to the problem.
  7. Wow I hope you feel better soon. I hate it when I feel bloated and miserable. I sympathize with you.
  8. I have had that problem too. When I'm tempted I just concentrate on how bad I'll feel if I given in and that usually takes care of the problem.
  9. Welcome! It's nice to meet you.
  10. Welcome! This is a great place and very helpful. I haven't been here very long myself.
  11. You have to keep reminding yourself how bad gluten is for you. It's actually a poison for you. For the sake of your health and your family you need to avoid it like the plague. This is what I tell myself and so far it has worked. If I get gluten it's by accident.
  12. I have been trying to learn from my mistakes. To try and pay attention to what I'm eating and avoid it in the future. I still get mad at myself occasionally.
  13. Stress always hits me in the stomach too. Being gluten free helps but I still have problems sometimes.
  14. When I eat something that doesn't agree with me, gluten for example, my innards make all kinds of gurgling noises. It's more noticeable at night.
  15. I definitely got glutened during the holidays. I think the first time was cross contamination and the other time was from a dessert. For some silly reason I thought I could just scrape the filling out of the pie, eat that and leave the crust. I had a learning experience. Won't do that again!
  16. Awww! I love your avatar. I love schnauzers too!!!

  17. I am glad you found someone who is so considerate. He definitely sounds like a keeper to me!
  18. I have never been diagnosed. I just know that when I eat gluten I feel bad, stomach pain, bloating, gas. When I stay away from it I feel great. That's enough evidence for me.
  19. I used to get really bad acid stomach and sharp pains in my stomach and intestines. That stopped when I went gluten free. The symptoms come back when I accidentally get some gluten.
  20. I seem to be more sensitive too. At first I didn't think cross contamination was anything to be concerned about but now I think I need to pay attention to it.
  21. Whenever I'm tempted I remind myself how bad I'll feel later. It usually works, not always, but most of the time. I messed up a litte over Christmas.
  22. I'm recovering from mistakes made during a Christmas dinner too. It just takes time. I am resolved to be more careful in the future. I like the phrase "when in doubt, do without." I think that will be my mantra!
  23. Count me in. I messed up at a Christmas dinner at my sister-in-law's. The meat and veggies were fine but then I had dessert. Chocolate pie, I thought I could just not eat the crust and I would be alright. Wrong! I'm getting over it finally.
  24. Fruitcake is something that I can definitely live without!!!
  25. I have never been diagnosed with celiac disease but I am definitely sensitive to gluten. I have read that gluten damages your intestines. I think it is possible that sensitivity to gluten could turn into celiac if you don't go on a gluten free diet.
