I have done that before, use something and then remember the label afterwards. It's just a habit that we all have to develop. Hope you feel better soon.

ARCHIVED Mind Chatter.....SchnauzerMom replied to draeko's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I have had a problem with mind chatter at night. Not every night, just occasionally. But, it keeps me awake most of the night. It is less frequent since I went gluten free but it still happens once in a while. It helps if I memorize something, like a Bible verse for example. Then repeat it to myself and that calms things down.

ARCHIVED I Was So Proud Of MyselfSchnauzerMom replied to Pink-Bunny's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease It's good to know that Olive Garden has gluten free stuff. I never dreamed that they would. That waitress deserves an extra big tip. Especially for being informed on gluten free and for standing by you. There is nothing worse than seeing a grownup throwing a tantrum and that is basically what your grandmother did. Has to have her own way, I guess...

ARCHIVED Needing To Rant....very Frustrated! Family Sucks Sometimes!SchnauzerMom replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I'm sorry your dad is so insensitive. Obviously the second family is more important than the first. You have your own family now, you and your husband. Concentrate on that.

ARCHIVED Need Help With This Please...SchnauzerMom replied to TiffTiff's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I love baked things, bread, bagels, etc. Whenever I crave something that I can't have I just remind myself how sick the gluten makes me and that pretty much takes care of the craving. I'm also learning to bake with gluten free flours. The taste is different but still good.

ARCHIVED Just The BeginningSchnauzerMom replied to sillybug101's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Hi, I'm glad you joined us. I'm fairly new too. My husband and I have been gluten free since the middle of October. We are becoming experts at reading labels. It was hard because we both love baked goods. Nothing better than fresh baked whole wheat bread. But it causes painful acid stomach in both of us. I'm learning to bake with alternative flours...

ARCHIVED Very Shakey, Almost Low Blood Sugar Feeling...SchnauzerMom replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I used to have that shakey feeling quite often. I would also feel light headed and sick. But since I've been gluten free I haven't experienced it.

Hi, I'm glad you joined us. My hubby and I have been gluten free since the middle of October. We weren't diagnosed with celiac but we discovered that gluten is definitely a problem for both of us. We both feel so much better without it. We loved breads and most baked things. I'm learning to make things with alternative flours. The taste is different...

The main thing for me is no more acid stomach. I was beginning to think there was something seriously wrong with my stomach but since I've been off gluten my stomach has been happy. Also, less gas not as irritable not so easily depressed no cramps My DH's two main problems were acid reflux and gas both of which have calmed down since being off gluten...

ARCHIVED Do I Or Dont I? Help Me Please!SchnauzerMom replied to JessicaB's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease If you feel better on a gluten free diet then I suggest staying on it no matter what the tests results are. I never had tests done. I just know when I eat gluten eventually (not always right away) I feel sick and it lasts several hours to several days. Acid stomach, cramps, IBS, gas, etc. When I stay off gluten I feel great.

ARCHIVED Soy MilkSchnauzerMom replied to BamBam's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Soy in some of its forms bothers me too. I made some cookies from soy flour and I thought I was going to die, stomach and intestinal pain, bloating, gas. It took a couple of days for everything to calm down. I tried soy milk and it gives me gas but not as bad as the flour. So far soy lecithin and soybean oil don't bother me. I guess it depends on how...

ARCHIVED Food Testing KitSchnauzerMom replied to Dianne Lam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Thanks for that info, I would like to try it.

Whenever I start longing for something that I can't have anymore I remind myself how it makes me feel after I eat it. So far that has helped. I loved bread, especially multi grain bread but when I eat it I get severe acid stomach. The taste of the bread is not worth the pain. So for me the gluten is dead and buried.

ARCHIVED Family Making Fun Of Us !SchnauzerMom replied to Mamato2boys's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I'm sorry your family is treating you badly. Hang in there, your health is more important than they're good opinions. This is the first gluten free Thanksgiving for my DH and me. We are going to my mother's house. She doesn't totally understand but she's not condemning either. I'm not sure what DH's family will be like. We'll see them at Christmas.

Great! I'm glad that you are losing weight and feeling better!

ARCHIVED Question About Overdose""SchnauzerMom replied to Justin087's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I would guess it's a combination of the two. The bread started things and the Doritos finished it off. Hope you feel better soon!

I have always had a sensitive/nervous stomach. Also problems with constipation most of my life. I was under a lot of stress when I first started a job (I stayed with that job 14 years though). I was in my 30's when I started having really bad cramps and alternating constipation/diarreah. At one point my DH and I decided we needed more fibre so we started...
