  1. This is really two different topics... But has anyone had any trouble after eating Lundbergs BBQ Rice chips? I get a feeling that everytime I eat them I don't feel right, I get those stomach cramps... I am wondering if there is something else in those chips that bother others that I should take a look at. Also, regarding Mozzerella Cheese, has anyone...
  2. Hi there, I live in South County, Dana Point area. I was dx right after Thanksgiving and have been gluten-free since. It would be nice to exchange local restaurant, shopping, and cooking experiences for this area. Anyone tried Skosh Monahans yet?

    ARCHIVED Pf Changs

Hi there, I noticed that you are in Orange County -- Which PF Changs did you eat at? I am in Orangy Cty too, and have been a little afraid to try PF Changs because they are always so crowded -- makes me a little nervous on the possibility of CC. I ate at the Fish Market at the Spectrum on Sunday and they were great, I went for an early lunch so the restaurant...
  4. I have been wondering about pets lately too. Before I went gluten free I swear I got sick everytime I swept my patio, or cleaned my house -- it was really wierd, I kept thinking maybe I was alergic to cleaning products or mold outside (I live near the beach) (I was certain I was just allergic to cleaning :-) Now with this new dx I wonder -- I have...
  5. Well, thank you all for the input here, I really appreciate it. As I said earlier I was never big on cooking, but am finding myself in an new world. I have never used much oil, butter, or salt and am finding there is a whole world of oil out there that I had I never really concerned myself with. I never deep fry anything, so I won't have issues with burning...
  6. I have avoided much cooking most of my life :=) but now it looks like I will be doing a lot more. Funny how life works sometimes.... Very happy there are so many great recipes ideas here! Anyway - Doesn't olive oil become unstable at a higher temperature than a break maker? Also, this may sound like a dumb question, but I have always hated coconut...
  7. Would it make a difference if I baked bread using Olive Oil instead of Vegetable Oil? I have been experimenting with my new Breadman using some of the pre-mixed Pamelas, Bob's and Gluten-free Pantry. But am also interested in moving on to the recipes, and would really like to use olive oil since it is a healthier choice. Thanks-- Cin
  8. Well, I guess I can just post a response to my own question. I emailed Pamelas and they responded very quickly. I just got around to trying another batch of the wheat free bread and at the suggestion of Pamelas used the -- White Bread Setting, Medium, and Rapid setting. They said since this is an 'old world' style bread the gluten setting on my Breadman...
  9. So am I correct in understanding that all flavors of Yoplait Yogurt are gluten free? I have been staying away because I keep seeing that 'plain' yogurt is gluten free but flavors are not (generally speaking) and quite honestly I can't get into 'plain' yogurt. Thanks, Cin
  10. Hi there, I too got a bread machine for Christmas, the Breadman TR2500BC (Ultimate Plus) Which has a gluten free cycle on it. I made a loaf of Pamela's Wheat Free bread today, (just to get the feel of the machine before I got too fancy with all those flours and mixing.) I set it for gluten free, The whole deal took 1:19 minutes. And my bread really...
  11. Hello everyone, I just wanted to share my super easy, low-fat, gluten free chili recipe. In winter I tend to make this once a week and am happy that I can still have it since going gluten free. 1 lb. ground Turkey (Brown it) Then add: 1 lg. can of Whole Tomatoes (cut them into smaller pieces) 1 can of Kidney Beans 1 Onion 1 TSP of Chili Powder...
  12. It makes sense that as our bodies heal from the years of damage that the symptoms would be less painful. It makes it a little harder to tell if I have been glutened. I have been so extremely careful with every single ingredient that goes into my body and haven't taken a single chance. But I can't believe there haven't been some accidents. I went though...
  13. I didn't appear to get glutened at all! ... I just can't believe I made it through all the holidays without a few days of D. There were definitely days I didn't feel so well after I ate, but that was it, all was well in the morning. I have been gluten free since November 28, and I had a bad weekend which I figure was due to the Thanksgiving feast, of which...
  14. Hi there, Is there anyone here from South Orange County (CA) area that can share some good dining/restaurant experiences? I am newer to this diet and am very scared to eat out. I have heard of a Restaurant in Costa Mesa - Skosh Monnahans, which serves gluten-free, but it isn't very close. I would also love to find a safe Mexican food restaurant. (I miss...
  15. Hello everyone, I found this article my local newspaper and I just had to share it. I contains a nice little story about a woman with Celiac Disease and how her darling husband took to the kitchen for her... and some recipes are included. Open Original Shared Link I haven't tried them yet, but thought I would post it here. Cin
  16. does anyone know what the deal is on ground turkey? I have heard that the frozen meat/patties can be a problem, but I am just talking about the fresh stuff... Thanks --- Cin
  17. I have been gluten free for 13 days. So far... No D in a week (I don't think I have ever gone that long in over a year) A lot more energy I feel sharper Those three things are huge for me right now. I do have a big fear right now of getting sick. And I have to say that everytime I eat I feel a slight cramping, and I try not to panick. I will not...
  18. I have been dealing with Lactose Intolerance for too many years to count. I have been using Lactaid, and using the Lactaid milk too. It does help. I use the Coscto brand which is cheaper (and comes with a little plastic case to carry with you. With lactose intolerance since your body doesn't have enough enzymes to process the dairy it will ferment in...
  19. Anyone have a good stir fry sauce? I always liked that Yoshidas Original from Costco, but now I need to find an alternative. Thanks - Cin
  20. I was at Costco the other day and wandered by and older gentleman passing out samples of chicken broth. I asked him if it was 'gluten free' -- and he said "A lot of people have been asking me that, and I don't even know what it is... can up please tell me what it is" I was a little surprised that he had been asked so many times - but that is good people...
  21. I definitely go from one extreme to the other. I found the C weeks were better because I wasn't cramping(eesh), but then I knew the D was to follow sooner than later. I would actually have a few normal days in between as I was moving from one to the other. I found adding fiber like Metamucil really helped to regulate me and my extremes were less drastic...
  22. I have noticed that about a lot of their gluten free products... they say they are gluten free, but then on the back state that they are made on machines that process milk, wheat, etc... be carefu! Cin
  23. I am new to this too, but I have been reading labels and find even when they say gluten free they will state on the back that their products are manufactured in a plant that processes wheat, milk, etc. At this point I am just staying away from those products. I was at Trader Joes today and they had gluten free waffles, and I was all excited until I read...
  24. oooohh really? Zatarains --- I love their Yellow Rice. I am new at this too and I read the label and I get scared when I see Dextrin, natural flavor, modified food starch, and of course, MSG gives me the creeps. Getting used to reading all this label stuff is the hardest part. I have a couple of boxes of Zats Yellow Rice in my pantry -- maybe I can eat...
