  1. If I cook, it is gluten free. For special occasions I will include store bought rolls for my gluten eating son and husband.
  2. Theater: I bring my own food to the theater or eat before I go. I put it into my purse so there are no questions. I apply this same process when I go to other places that have a "policy" against bringing in your own food. It works as long as no one in security is hand checking bags. The food is usually not noticed if it is only going through x-ray...
  3. I agree with HappyGirl. Have him tested for Celiac while he is still under 18.
  4. Below is my very simple salad dressing: 2/3 sunflower oil 1/3 plain rice vinegar salt. pepper, ground oregano, garlic powder to taste. This dressing does not need to be refrigerated. I keep about 2 ozs in my purse in a leak proof container.

    ARCHIVED Omg.....

Ener-g bread was about the only gluten free bread available 29 years ago. (The only way to eat is heated with lots of butter and maple syrup.) There were not the assortment of mixes available either when I went gluten free. I decided simply to live without baked goods. Even today, I very rarley bake. I keep Food for Life Almond Rice bread around...
  6. I agree, contact the corporate office with your complaint. It is my habit to read all the ingredients even if the product is labled gluten free.
  7. As of last Friday Costco's rotisserie chicken was gluten free. I check the lable each time I buy it.
  8. Jerry, Stop by the customer service desk before you start shopping at WholeFoods. They have a very long list of the gluten free products in the store.

    ARCHIVED "how Doctors Think"

I think the saying is "If not for the grace of God, there go I". I was very lucky that I was diagnosed within 9 months of the onset of my symptoms. This was a fasinating article. No one should have to suffer like Anne Dodge did. She had the classic textbook symptoms of celiac. I knew after the first two paragraghs that Celiac was a strong contender...
  11. I found it was necessary to toss out the idea of a standard meal when I went gluten free. Once you do this anything that is gluten free and dairy free can be eaten at any meal. I am out of gluten free cereal as of this morning. Tomorrow morning I will have a micorwaved baked potato. One of my favorite breakfasts is peanut butter and jelly on rice cakes...
  12. Jersyangle, Thank you for the link. I was also at work and unable to watch the segment when it aired.
  13. Hi Jerry, Below are my three favorite meals that can be put together is less than 5 minutes Peanut Butter and Jelly on gluten free bread or rice cake (open face) Tuna, ham or turkey with cheese melted on gluten free bread or rice cake (open face) Cooked chicken or turkey or already brown hamburger with melted cheese on Corn Tortilla Chips. Add...
  14. I work full time, although my hours are not as long as yours. I make extra dinner on the weekends so I have leftovers available for lunch and dinner. In my opinion the key to eliminating "boring" from a gluten free diet is to find different ways to cook the food. Stir fried cashew chicken over rice is a completley meal different from grill barbecued...
  15. Below are a couple of suggestions: Talk to your family about maintaining a gluten free household. This may not be workable. Talk to your family about maintaining a household with only a minimum gluten products. My home only contains store bought bread, rolls, hot dog buns, microwave Mac and Cheese, cereal and Doritos. We have canned chicken noodle...
  16. Although it was many years ago (about 29) my upper GI barium X-ray, along with my textbook symptoms, was what led the doctor to diagnose Celiac. The test showed the barium moving very slowing through my upper intestine. I was very lucky to have a doctor who connected the slow moving barium with Celiac. This is the only medical test I had. Confirmation...
  17. I tell casual acquaintances and restaurants that I can not eat wheat, oats, rye or barley because it makes me ill. Most of the time they assume it is an allergy. That is fine with me. I will answer any addition questions they have. Anyone I see on a frequent basis (friends, family, co-workers) will eventually here the full explanation of celiac, which...
  18. Below is the link to the restaurant page of the San Diego Celiac Group. It only lists the San Diego addresses. Since many of them are chains you can check the restaruants website for other locations outside San Diego. There is also a link called "On the way to LA". Open Original Shared Link Have a nice trip. The views are spectacular from Hwy...
  19. In my house my husband and son have their gluten laden cereal for breakfast and gluten bread for sandwiches to make lunch with. They make their own breakfast and lunch. If I am cooking, it is gluten free. There are many quick and easy gluten free dinners to make. I agree about the crock pot. Toss in meat or chicken, along with vegetables and pototoes...
  20. I agree with Momma Goose. Bring you own food and enjoy everyones company.
  21. jayhwkmom, Edgar Cayce, who was famous the early twentieth century could see human auras. I have included a link to his description of how he saw auras. Open Original Shared Link
  22. My son qualifies for special education and GATE (Gifted and Talented Education). We never made any use of the GATE services. The Special Education services have allowed him to have his education program adapted to his needs. We are lucky in that the school district we live in, through elementary school, has combined classrooms (one regular class and...
  23. That is one of the reasons Albert Einstein was a genius. He saw the world from outside of the traditional box. I remember my son's fouth grade special ed teacher telling me that he got to the right math answer by working from both ends toward the middle.
  24. One way is to tell them nicely " I am not going to participate either in bringing in donuts or in eating the donuts". I suspect that your co-workers, particuarly the newer ones, have let it slip their minds that you actually don't eat what is brought in.
  25. Locate a compounding pharmacy. They made me gluten free estregon pills. The manufactured ones I was at first were not gluten free.
