  1. I hope your kitty gets better soon.
  2. Jerry, At some point you will look at gluten containing foods and automatically refuse because you know they'll make you very sick. Unfortunately my crystal ball can't tell me how many times you will fall off the wagon before you get to this point.
  3. My opinion is that if you have time before a hospital stay talk with the dietian and kitchen to determine if they can provide safe meals. If yes, bring along some gluten free food just in case. If not, make arrangements to bring your own meals. If the hospitalization is not planned have someone bring in gluten free meals for you.
  4. One alternative is to have two wedding cakes. A large gluten cake for the wedding guests and a small bride and groom gluten free cake that you make. When I got married 25 years ago finding someone to make a gluten free wedding cake was not realistic. We had a gluten cake, which I did not touch.
  5. Yasmin is gluten free.
  6. I don't bother with flour at all. I cut chicken brest into strips and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Bake until done.
  7. No, you should not feel guilty. The less gluten you have around the better. My household is gluten limited. We only have bread, cereal, hot dog buns, Doritoes and microwave Mac and Cheese. I buy separate sandwich fixings for myself to further limit cross contamination. The kitchen counter is divided into gluten free and gluten allowed zones. My...
  8. Below is the link to the St. Louis area Celiac Website. Open Original Shared Link They might be able to assist you. I travel to St. Louis on a regular basis. WildOats and Dierburgs grocery stores both carry gluten free food. I am sorry I can not help you with restaurants. I eat at steakhouses when I am in St. Louis.

  10. Chicken Nuggets is one of my favorite traveling foods. However, any gluten free cooked meat that can be eaten cold works.
  11. Happy Birthday
  12. You might consider buying a small Styrofoam ice chest when you get to Florida. The ice needs to be changed everyday. This would allow you to bring cold food such as gluten free chicken nuggets. I make them at home, freeze them and pack them in my check in suitcase in a soft sided lunch box with blue ice. Call your hotel and ask if there is a microwave...
  13. Simply incomprehensible. I will also add my thoughts and prayers.
  14. Check with the hospital to see if you will have access to a microwave (nurses station or cafeteria). This would allow you to bring along canned goods (Dinty Moore, Gluten Free soup etc) and items such as Thai Kitchen. If you do this, bring your own paper plates, bowls plastic silverware and a can opener. You could also bring along an ice chest with pre...
  15. I spoke with the manager Pasta Pomodoro in Irvine, CA about two months ago. He was not aware that the gluten free pasta should be cooked in separate water from the regular pasta. He also told me I should not eat out. With this level of ignorance, it is my opinion, they should not even bother the have gluten free pasta available.
  16. Below is the link to the Seaworld Information on the Gluten Free in San Diego Website: Open Original Shared Link There is lots of other information about gluten free options in San Diego on this website.
  17. I also have a Rival Crockpot. Mine has three(instead of the normal two) settings - Low, High, Warm. I have never had any problems with it.
  18. After reading this post, I will shortly be contacting the local food panty. According to their website special food needs can be requested. I am going to start donating gluten free food that everyone can use. I am also going to ask if they will contact me if anyone has needs either gluten free or wheat free needs. This food pantry has people make appointments...
  19. Is it possible to continue your leave of absence until you get better? Another option is to be private tutor. I have hired a tutor for my son when needed. In Southern California the going rate is between $50 and 65/hour. His math tutor worked from her home and required my son to go there. The sessions were an hour long.
  20. Your daughter is a very smart and sensible girl to be able and willing to take responsibility for her own health.
  21. I like number 24. I have a personal preference for landscapes. However, I am not sure my opinion should count as I do not have an artistic bone in my body.
  22. To prevent "double dipping" in my household I buy different brands of jelly, peanutbutter etc...
  23. The Residence Inn by Marriott have kitchens. We stayed at one near Disneyworld in Orlando. They serve a buffet breakfast but I only feel comfortable eating the fresh whole fruit, yogurt (if Yoplait) and milk. I bring most of my own breakfast.
  24. I practice Gluten Free living very much like Nancym. I cook twice a week, eat left overs and keep quick and easy gluten free meals and goodies around. Peanutbutter and Jelly on rice cakes make quick and easy meal. Planning is the key. I try my best to never get stranded hungry without gluten free food handy. As far as I am concerned, if it is gluten...
