  1. I only heard of this food yesterday but apparently it is common in Mexico and Spain. It's basically spaghetti, often with chicken, beef or beans added in a tomato sauce. But... The difference between it and Italian spaghetti is that the spaghetti noodles are broken in small pieces and browned in oil. Would rice or corn pasta actually brown? Also the...
  2. It has wheat in it. Kids will use this stuff and stick their fingers in their mouth or touch their eyes or nose and gluten themselves. And some people also get contact reactions.
  3. Correct. Or Playdough.
  4. We quit Girl Scouts for this very reason. In my daughter's troop there was another girl with a wheat allergy. Actually this girl had more allergies than my daughter did. But we did not learn of their allergies until towards the end of the year. I wanted to refuse to allow her to sell the cookies because she can't have them. But their solution was that...
  5. What symptoms are/were you having? I am 51 and aside from changes in my period, I don't think I'm having any. That being said... I do take Evening Primrose Oil for my neuropathy and I started taking Black Cohosh several years ago when I had a very heavy, 18 day period. My Dr. at the time (I no longer see her) said it was likely just my age.
  6. That's really hard to say because we don't know what all your truck sells. I usually don't buy stuff from the trucks for my daughter. When we lived in NY the trucks sold snowcones. Those *should* be safe but I don't know if they are made on shared lines or if for some other reason there could be cross contamination. Last year I did take a chance and...
  7. I've seen three so far. The first one did diagnose our IgG food allergies but then he didn't give us very good advice. Such as... Give daughter cashews instead of peanuts for her peanut allergy. Which I did. Planter's roasted cashews. Roasted in *peanut oil*! He also told me to give her spelt for her wheat allergy. Which I did and immediately knew...
  8. Just curious if this med is available in the US? I could be wrong on this but I believe I was just reading that it can be used in the treatment of gastroparesis which I have. But that the FDA is looking into it and at present it is not available here. Or maybe I am confusing it with another med?
  9. I have never been a religous person even though I was raised as a Methodist. My parents were the type who went to church every Sunday and participated in pretty much all the church had to offer. They were really into it! They insisted that my brother and I be confirmed. We both protested against it but my parents can be very controlling so we just put...
  10. 1. Popcorn. I make it on the stove. 2. Bean dip or refried beans with tortilla chips or Fritos. 3. Cheese dip with same as above. 4. Instant mashed potatoes, sometimes with cheese, onions and bacon. 5. Hummus with Fritos, thick potato chips or veggies. 5. Cottage cheese and canned pears. 6. Cheese. 7. Nuts. 8. Synders, gluten-free pretzels...
  11. I bought some Expandex but don't know what to do with it. How do you use it?
  12. The problem with elimination diets comes when you have more than one allergy and particularly many allergies. Also if you have IgG allergies such as my mom, daughter and I have, the symptoms come delayed so you don't necessarily relate the symptoms to the offending food that you ate. We had our allergies diagnosed by a naturopath but the ones who do this...
  13. That is what I would think also. I remember getting those when I was a kid. They did have a coating on them. Probably to keep them from sticking to themselves. When my daughter was much younger, my husband took her and a friend out for the day. The friend was a girl I had much trouble with to the point where her mother would not allow her to come to...
  14. Sorry to hear that! My daughter has food allergies and not celiac. However I never pushed the issue to provide food for her except for when they went away to camp in the 5th grade. I was told they could provide her with food. Alas it was mainly apples and she came home with a sick tummy. There was gluten-free pasta one night, chicken another. And a...
  15. Our house is not gluten-free but we don't keep a lot of gluten in it either. I do eat bread on occasion and cereal. But I am careful to avoid cross contamination. Because I have other allergies, it is hard for me to buy prepared foods I can eat. But for my husband I tend to buy him things like sandwiches and cookies. He eats them on paper plates. We...
  16. I don't do it now. I did do it on occasion and never seemed to adjust to it. Perhaps because when I did do it, it was a day here and a day there. I am a real night owl and I usually stay up until 3:00 a.m. That's when I naturally get sleepy. So when I worked nights I would find myself starting to drag around 2 or 3 and it was all downhill from there...
  17. Unfortunately it is very common for diabetics to go undiagnosed for many years. This kept happening to me until I wound up in the hospital with what I now know are complications from the diabetes. Note that I do not have celiac. I did have gestational diabetes and I now have type 2. My SIL's sister had gestational diabetes and now has type 2. The...
  18. There are no cheese alternatives she can eat because she can't have soy, peas, lentils or nuts. But thanks!
  19. I thought of another one. It clips onto a pan so you can put your stirring spoon in it.
  20. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Now I got some foreign site. I finally did get the correct site. I did get it before. I just got so confused because I kept getting different sites. I have saved the URL and am running Malwarebytes.
  21. Okay. Thanks!
  22. This has happened to me so many times at so many places, I usually won't even order salads unless I know there are no croutons in the place at all. Gluten isn't even an issue for me but I do have food allergies and croutons can make me sick. Sorry to hear that it happened to you.
  23. You would have to read the ingredients. Some do contain wheat germ oil. Lip gloss that is. I haven't seen that in nail polish.
  24. Apparently there are two products called "Chreese". A search first turned up the product with the wheat in it. But that is not what I bought. I bought the Road's End Organics. These are the ingredients for one of the cheese sauces. It is gluten-free. Ingredients: Organic Brown Rice Flour, Enriched Nutritional Yeast (nutritional yeast, niacin, pyridoxine...
