  1. That's terrible! When I had my first apartment, I had to have a roommate. My first roommate was a friend but he moved out to take care of a house for his dad. It belonged to an elderly neighbor lady with 30 cats. He did ask me to move in with him. The rent would have been a lot cheaper. But as much as I love cats, I couldn't stand the stench. They...
  2. I don't have celiac but I do have gastroparesis. That means I digest my food more slowly than normal and this causes no appetite most of the time. I am also diabetic so to keep my blood sugar stable, I should eat on a schedule. However because I wasn't hungry I keep delaying my meal by an hour...then another hour... That did work for me so well! I...
  3. I am watching one of the re-runs and the mom tells the son that she knows he doesn't like the cereal she is buying but she is getting it anyway because it is free. So I thought... If I bought cereal that nobody in my house wanted, nobody would eat it. Now if I could get it for free, I probably would and would donate it to the food bank. But... Realistically...
  4. Is the Annie's safe? I remember the Dr. telling me to buy that brand of dressing when daughter was first diagnosed. And granted this was almost 6 years ago but I seem to remember something on the label about shared lines or may contain.
  5. How do you make spring rolls? And the rice balls? Do they contain soy? Can't do the tofu because of the soy. She outgrew a soy allergy and it messes with my thyroid so I don't let her have it except for in things like soybean oil or lecithin. She won't eat salmon or quinoa but she will eat the quinoa pasta. I am cooking some right now for a pasta...
  6. Have you tried making the Bisquick without eggs? AFAIK it has to have them. I did buy some but have been afraid it won't come out right. The Udi's have eggs as well so those are out. I can mail order the Schar's crackers but I believe the last time I got them they had eggs as well. And they usually arrive in crumbs. So not much good for eating unless...
  7. Ooh! Sorbitol. It's a laxative.
  8. You could have some sort of food allergy. I have an IgG allergy (some would say intolerance) to eggs. It's a delayed reaction so I didn't figure it out for a long time. When daughter was diagnosed with an egg allergy, I quit eating them too. Then some time later I got some egg salad from a salad bar. I ate it and the next day I got D. Still not making...
  9. My daughter is allergic to wheat and other things. We will buy things made in a facility with her allergens but we will not buy may contain items or made on shared lines. She usually brings a quick lunch because there is not much time at school. Often it is a hummus cup from Costco along with some gluten-free pretzels, carrots or apple slices. Sometimes...
  10. Those kids seem to eat a lot! And they're all thin. My kid is not thin but she eats healthy foods.
  11. Thanks! She would like all but the tomatoes. I would just put black olives in instead.
  12. Yeah. But maybe there's some other verison I haven't thought about?
  13. The other kids usually eat Subway, McDonalds or Teriyaki. Two sister's parents own a Jimmy Johns. So they eat that. This stuff is pretty much out of the question for her. She could get the plain rice from the Teriyaki place. And maybe a salad from Subway but really I don't trust it not to be contaminated. There is an Albertsons and they do usually...
  14. Daughter has informed me that she no longer wants to use the microwave at the dance studio. The reason being by the time her food is heated, she has lost her good seat. Seating is not abundant there and many of the kids do wind up eating on the floor but I think she prefers to eat with her friends. We do have plenty of thermoses but her locker is very...
  15. Hmmm... I haven't had stitches for many years. But I do react badly to tape and bandages as does my dad. Neither of us have gluten issues though AFAIK.
  16. I checked last night. They have the Udi's. Yay!
  17. Ooh! Thanks! I will look for those next time.
  18. They are here too. Expensive but good!
  19. That flat bread sounds really good! Thanks!
  20. I guess I am lucky. Most of the stores do sell gluten-free stuff here. But it does get moved around a lot. Central Market has the gluten-free breaded fish over in the meat section and not with the other frozen stuff. And Albertsons once put the Teff Wraps with the tortillas then moved them to the gluten-free section. They have some gluten-free pasta...
  21. We just stayed at the Westin in Seattle for a dance conference. I'm diabetic so have to watch what I eat as well. We were able to get one meal from their cafe and also one very expensive meal from room service. Sadly we did not get our fridge. I had forgotten but I do have a small 6 pack cooler that was a gift. Had I brought that I could have at least...
  22. This one has a good ethnic food section too.
