  1. I can't speak for the lactose. I may have a problem with it but I am pretty sure that I also have a casein problem. So all dairy is out. Just don't assume that margarine is dairy free. Most is not. Some are. But not many.
  2. Yes, she should have a 504 plan. I found a lot less food issues when my daughter was in Jr. High but... They were required to use wheat pasta to build a car in science class. And because they used wagon wheel shapes, I couldn't just send in gluten-free pasta. As for the eating... Good luck with that! This is the age where girls in particular, do...
  3. Nucoa is a dairy free margarine. Daiya is a vegan cheese. Trader Joes sells their own brand too. Quite good.
  4. I don't have all of the same problems that you do but yesterday I ate spaghetti with a little Nucoa and parsley on it. Can you eat Daiya cheese? A little of that melted on would be good too. I eat a lot of beans. A common meal for me is bean tacos. The beans don't have to be spicy. You can cook pintos or black beans, drain and mash. Add a little...
  5. I tried the shots. Don't know what is in them. Not all shots use egg. I felt much better after the first one but no different after the next one.
  6. I had a lot of those symptoms. Mine began after having the baby. A year after I had her, I learned that I had type 2 diabetes and nerve damage because of it to my feet, legs and stomach. The stomach part (gastroparesis) also caused the GERD. I had developed a thyroid problem while pregnant and I was being massively overdosed on my thryoid med by what...
  7. I'm not on WIC but I can't have dairy. I never liked milk so never drink it. Not any kind of milk. And I find that I don't need it for anything. I sometimes use broth to make mashed potatoes. That is what some Jewish people do. Would add olive oil or Nucoa margarine because there is no dairy in it. And that worked okay if I was serving it with meat...
  8. Cracking at the corners of the mouth can be a vitamin B defiency. I have to take a B Complex vitamin or I get that. Not sure what to tell you about the hives. I get them sometimes and never know the cause. It's not always from what I eat. But recently I accidentally ate oats and got hives. I have an oat intolerance. I also have intolerances to...
  9. I have GERD and Barrett's Esophagus. I was shocked to get this diagnosis because I thought I had no symptoms. Turns out that I did but I didn't realize it. Namely throat clearing and a husky sounding voice. Any and all of the GERD meds gave me extreme GERD symptoms, upset stomach, migraines and bizarre dreams. I had to stop taking them. After trying...
  10. You might consider a slow cooker. When I was at my worst, I had a lot of trouble cutting up veggies. But I found that if I could sit on a bar stool, it was doable. I might only be able to work for a few minutes at a time though, putting things in the refrigerator until I could get back to them. I could prep everything prior. Granted, you'll lose a little...
  11. Wow! That's horrible that they'd have peanut oil in them. So many people have peanut allergies these days. At least vitamin D isn't one of the more expensive supplements.
  12. As for the burping, that's what pappadums do to me. Not sure why. I can eat any of the ingredients in them with no problems. So it isn't that.
  13. I avoid all now. I learned my lesson! Of course everyone is different. When daughter outgrew some of hers and all of a sudden could eat eggs and dairy without getting sick, I thought I could do the same. Even though the Dr. warned me never to eat them again. And I never will eat egg again because my reaction is so violent and severe. But the dairy?...
  14. Just curious... What is kabana and what are jelly cups? Not sure what the chocolate crackles are either. If it were me, I wouldn't have nearly that amount of sweets. We don't usually have sweets and even at a party I would only put out one or maybe two kinds. We would have tons of veggies though. And dips like hummus and bean.
  15. I have never heard of gluten in popcorn. Or stuff put on popcorn. They may have told you this. They may not have understood. I get that a lot. One thing at a Mexican place that is almost always safe is beans. If they have whole pinto beans, they should be safe unless they are in some way cross contaminated. I suppose it is possible but not likely...
  16. I can relate! When we lived in Staten Island and also on Cape Cod, we couldn't always get good fresh produce. Especially in the winter. But I could eat canned. And you can't. But there were other things that I did that might help you. One is mail order. Perhaps you can get mail order produce delivery there? There used to be places that did this. ...
  17. Sorry to hear of your troubles. If you can have soy milk, then I assume that you could have soybeans as well? You can get canned ones here. Can you get canned ones there? Can you eat any other beans? Peas? Can you eat seeds? I sometimes use hemp seeds and chia seeds for protein. They're not exactly cheap though. As for the deficiencies, I can relate...
  18. Understood. I spent the majority of my life as a vegetarian although not a totally strict one. For instance, I would eat refried beans at a restaurant and not think about whether or not there might be lard in there. Or the same for the rice and not think about that there might be chicken broth in there. But now that I know that I am intolerant to chicken...
  19. Oh how I can relate to the rolling veins! I have to go in for an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy and am dreading the prep for it. I think I'm gonna have a miserable 48 hours. I also have elevated liver enzymes. But I am overweight and from what I have read, most people who are overweight do have a fatty liver and that can cause elevated enzymes. Gluten...
  20. I can relate. I don't have celiac but I do have food intolerances and that seems to be even worse in terms of people understanding. They just plain don't. If I say that I have allergies (some people refer to intolerances as IgG allergies), then people with IgE allergies take offense and say that no, I do not! They also seem to think that if something...
  21. I have a cat allergy. I test as allergic. Most cats do not bother me at all. Am also allergic to dogs and most dogs don't bother me. I have cats. Am fine with them. Have visited shelters and frequently visit the adoptable cats at the various pet stores around here. No problem. But I visited my nephew, his cat and kittens. Sneezed my head off and...
  22. That stuff did a number on me. I think I am allergic to it. Made my tongue increasingly numb each time I took it. Foolishly I kept on taking it until the numbness began to spread down my throat. I think that was the third dose. Never again!
  23. Dairy caused pimples for me when I was younger. Now at 54 I just get stomach issues. I have had blood and hair tests for intolerances. They worked for me but some people find them iffy.
  24. I had not heard of it. I tried looking it up but can't find anything but the book. I am through buying diet books. I find most of them usless to me because they tell me to eat things that I can't and won't eat. Do you have any sample meals from this diet? Or any specifics on it?
