  1. No. Wings don't need tomatoes. You fry chicken wings, toss in hot sauce, bake, then retoss in hot sauce. The hot sauce is ALL peppers, no tomatoes. THANKS for the suggestions. I'm almost debating about making a pot roast or something because of it! LOL Not really party food.
  2. I've had Cherrybrook Kitchen stuff. VERY good. I love it. Don't love that it's $5 and it makes 12 cupcakes or 1 9" round cake! So it would be $10 for a whole cake! YIKES! I'm sticking with wacky cake. I WILL however try thier sugar cookie mix someday for my Coconut Macadamia Nut cookies
  3. Having folks for Superbowl Sunday. Originally we were going to make fajitas, chips/salsa, tortilla soup, etc. Well...MAJOR wrench thrown in the works. Friend of mine's husband had MAJOR allergic reaction on Sunday - not sure exactly what caused it yet....rushed to ER, 4 doses of epipen, hives head to toe....it was MAJOR, could have died. ANYWAY...he...
  4. I'm week 4 so I haven't started working on my own recipes yet...but....last week I made a loaf of Gluten Free Pantry's Sandwich Bread. I cried, it was so good. I had sandwiches all week with it. Tomorrow I'm going to make the french bread/pizza loaf I have. WELL worth the $$$.
  5. gluten-free Betsy - I'd love the carrot cake recipe if you'd share! You can PM me, or post in another thread - don't want to hijack this one! Congrats on your wedding - I hope you find a solution to your cake!
  6. YEP! THat's a great idea....cut into cubes and season to make croutons too! Planning on making bread.
  7. Wow...they do sound cool. I would wonder about baking them, too, instead of microwaving. How "goopy" is the batter....you said thick...I'm wondering if you could kind of blob it out on a baking sheet and bake it? Hmmmm. My Aldi doesn't have Coburn - it's called "Friendly Farms" but we LOVE their cottage cheese. Hmmmmm...I haven't had it since going...
  8. salty salty popcorn. Utz's Potato chips (gluten free guarantee right on the bag). MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
  9. I'll give it a good read. So...spelt and Kamut are out? MAN! I was reading something the other day that recommended it for Celiac! Well, now at least I know the source of that info is WAY off base. THANKS for saving me the $$$!!!
  10. It totally depends on where you're from, i think! I was RAISED on Hersheys. I'll have to read about the children's slavery issue though. My understanding is that there is still the Orphanage/School there and if it's turned them into slave labor it certainly was NOT Milton Hershey's intent AT ALL. I don't like Lindt at all. It seems really bitter...
  11. Thanks. I'm thinking of trying again for this weekend for Superbowl. I have a half a box of Arrowhead Mills gluten-free flour mix and half a box of Fearn's Baking Mix too. I think I'm going to use that and maybe cut down the baking soda part of the mixture to about half (both AM and F's have baking soda in them already). I'll let ya know! P...
  12. I LOVE Tinkyada too! My kids cannot tell the difference AT ALL! My daughter likes it better (she wasn't a big pasta person before we switched, but she likes it better...how funny). My Whole Foods sells it for $2.99 - that's the CHEAPEST I've seen it anywhere - even online. So, I'll keep buying it there. Someone I know told me that Trader Joes makes...
  13. We went to Outback last week. It was GREAT. I actually felt "safe" ya know?
  14. Wendy's has a gluten free list on their website. We've been a few times and I have NOT been glutened by them as long as I read the lists before I eat there. ALSO....ANY sandwhich they make they will gladly NOT serve it on the bun, it's even an option. YEsterday I got the Ultimate Grill w/out the sauce (the put it in like a salad container), and a...
  15. It is hard - to fathom. We live in a world where it is EVERYWHERE - so, we know, it can be hard. You have to think of it for exactly what it is...like posted earlier...POISON. It makes you sick. Think about it this way....if you saw someone about to drink cyanide, would you let them? NO, because it's poison. It CAN and WILL kill you if you keep...
  16. Aura - I just went gluten free as well (Jan 1st). I was diagnosed with IBS also but my doc was not in the pill throwing mode, so gave me some lifestyle changes I could do (exercise, fiber, etc). I decided to go gluten free to see if it was celiac. DEFINITELY make sure you're getting enough fiber. I was a "whole wheat" junkie - the more fiber...
  17. Best Foods makes Hellmans. Somewhere in the west it becomes Best Foods instead of Hellman's. So, yes, that one is safe. Let me just say, doing a happy dance. GRANTED, it's the most expensive one, but it's still cheaper than the organic specialty mayo I bought that tasted just awful! We are so glad that Hellman's is safe.
  18. THANKS! Just after I posted I got the reply from B&G foods. IF you go on the website the Ortega products are not listed. BUT their customer service sent me an email that stated that ALL Ortega products are gluten free. ALL of them. There is not wheat, wheat derivitatives or "gluten" containing flours (ie. barley, rye, etc) used in ANY Ortega line...
  19. Hey....that was what I was going to recommend! Now....is there a Blue Cheese Dressing out there that's gluten free????
  20. failure. Oh well...next time I won't be so impatient. Dense, and grainy. Not inedible...but certainly lacked that "cake" texture. Will be looking to try again with gelatin or Xgum (yes, Larrymac - you can laugh at me now! ) Corn flour & corn starch....same thing? yes? No? maybe that would help too.... Does anyone know the "science...
  21. Test batch is in the oven as we speak. I did not have gelatin (or Xgum) BUT I'm trying it without it. Figuring if it's too dry, too dense, etc, I'll add the gelatin next time to see if it's more spongy. Thanks for the tip on powdered sugar. I think I'll use the rice milk (simply b/c my friend is trying so hard to get it into her daughter!). I'll...
  22. Sophiekins! THANK YOU!!! I've totally hesitated to invest the $10/lb for Xanthum Gum....but the gelatin is relatively inexpensive for the plain (like $1/box or something like that). Thanks for the tip on baking soda. I use stoneware pans (Pampered Chef). SO FAR, I have not had issue with CC. It has not been a problem. IF it becomes, I will need to figure...
  23. Open Original Shared Link Here's the Ohio list for the Angel Food Ministries. I'm not sure where you are, but hopefully there is one near you.
  24. You'd think! My grandmother is a diabetic and is EXACTLY the same way as your DD's grandmother! Also, when I brought up on another forum that I had celiac (or at least a wheat intollerance - I self diagnosed! LOL )....I had this one woman jump all over me and tell me not to turn into one of those freaks at a restaurant who is picky about what they eat...
  25. Okay....I'm gluten free....and my friends daughter is dairy/soy/gluten free. They are coming to our house for the Superbowl. I want to make a homemade chocolate cake I used to make Called Wacky cake. Right now I have rice flour and brown rice flour....and I'm hoping to find some Xgum (thinking i need it for cake). ANYWAY.... 1 1/2 cups flour...
