  1. That is a tough one...only because you need so much flour. I might suggest making cookies instead and decorating those? A gingerbread house needs to stand, and I am not sure if you use mostly cornstarch and brown rice flour if that will work. Let us know what happens, if you find that something works. Good luck!!!!
  2. I used to make some great make ahead breakfasts for Christmas morning before I had to eat gluten free. This will be my third Christmas, and I have yet to find something good. Something to start the night before and then pop in the oven in the morning, but not quiche. I used to do citrus cream cheese pull apart rolls, or a french toast casserole..I was...
  3. The hard cider there is gluten free and often on tap. I loved getting it and drinking it; it looked just like I was having a beer.
  4. I got the food, not memorable, but not bad. Just make sure you remind the stewards/stewardesses when you get on that you requested the gluten free meal. There was a bit of a mix up with mine, but ended up okay. If I hadn't reminded them, I would have lost my meal. Good luck!
  5. Hello! Where did you get the list of gluten free foods and dining options fop Walt Disney? I called and the woman I spoke to had not heard of it. Now that I am reading all this good stuff about the food, I am even more excited to go! Thanks!! Slacker Mom
  6. I will be doing a more in depth description on my blog when I get the time..but just in case someone needs the information I thought I would throw this out there. My husband surprised me with a trip to this lovely place. And it was wonderful and we did not have a kitchen, so all meals had to be eaten out. And it worked. He got some information from...
  7. I have fried chicken heavily coated with cornstarch successfully. Maybe add some spices to the cornstarch, so it tastes more flavorful.
  8. I was going to post the exact same question...I mean..almost identical. I am 7 months gluten free, initially lost weight, and now I am gaining. I don't think I am eating more, actually I think I eat less now than I did before. I was not a skinny person before, just normal. I was also wondering if now I am absorbing more, and even though I am doing...
  9. I haver heard that pamela's is great. I have a bread machine too, and I need to order some Pamela's. I have used gluten free pantry's french, and my family loves it. It doesn't taste like French bread to me...more like sourdough. We love it. I also tried Lorka's recipe from here, and that was good too.
  10. I read that article, or one of them when I was first researching gluten and celiac. The man who tried it; if in fact was the same story, was 85 years old, and had a naturopathic doctor daughter. They had to definately do some long process to ferment the bread, and he found out how much he could eat without symptoms. But, I think she mentioned that they...
  11. Looks great...that crust sounds awesome and could be used in a lot of different ways..thanks for sharing.
  12. I add flax meal to everything I bake. I think it's fabulous, and it does add to the nutritional value...so much of our "replacement" foods are nutrient-poor. Add least it adds something good!
  13. I have a great choc. chip cookie recipe kbabe, (you know where to look;) They are chewy and crisp, and a winner with gluten eaters as well.
  14. Jo Ann, Lorka's bread is another celiac.com member's bread recipe. I think it's in this section. Just do a search; you should find it. SM
  15. I have a fabulous one, it is ginger cake and it's easy, yummy, and not completely nutritionally devoid. There is a recipe for frosting, but it really doesn't need it. Click on this blog link to go to it, and use fresh ginger, it is very worth it.Open Original Shared Link
  16. It is so tough at first, but you will find your way. This website is a great way to start. I hope the tests show what the problem is, so you will know what you need to do. Good luck!!!
  17. I made dates wrapped in bacon for a party I had, they were fabulous. Menjool dates bacon, cut in half whole almonds Preheat oven to 400. Take pits out of dates, put in almond, wrap bacon around it. Place seam side down on cookie sheet. Bake 7 minutes, turn, bake another 7 minutes. These went so fast.
  18. I have yet to buy a gluten free cookbook, I find that the recipe sites people have already mentioned work well for me, and the gluten free blogs people have made are a fabulous resource. There are at least a half dozen that have wonderful recipes. Can they be posted here? (if you are interested) You could also do a blog search, type gluten free, and...
  19. My mother in law makes that too..it is sooo good. Also, Nigella has a recipe for a chocolate one, click on this to get there:Open Original Shared Link I hoped that worked!
  20. Are you me? I am your age, with 2 children, ages 3.5 and 5.5, and have the same exact question. I am only 6 months gluten free and still ironing out the kinks, (and I got glutened a few days ago, I am just feeling better now from it). And I figured that I am probably done now too. It would be so easy to stop now. I will be curious to see what...
  21. I have 2 kids..3 and 5. My food rules are that they have to eat as many bites as their ages of everything that is on their plate. I give the 3 year old 3 bites of a veggie, meat, and starch. Once they finish that, then they can ask for seconds of anything that was on their plate. I always try to include at least one item that is a favorite, esp. if I...
  22. That happens to me too! That not sleeping thing totally bites! What did I do before this forum and before I figured out what was wrong???????
  23. Believe it or not, my dished have been coming out horrible too! and..I use Cascade also. I think I will be changing too, I thought it was my dishwasher (and it's only 3 years old!!!)
  24. John..I actually started this thread for my husband; so he could see it wasn't just me!! And then, I got great comfort knowing I wasn't the only one.
  25. Thank goodness for all of you. I was beginning to feel like I was going insane, and I didn't want to turn into the girl who cried "gluten" for everything! And, I think this is part of my getting glutened experience, I am still learning about how my body tells me. So, thank you, it is great to read that others feel the same way. And...
