  1. Does anyone else get very antisocial when glutened? I normally love to chat, and hang out talk, love parties, and all. But once I get glutened, I don't want to chat, I don't want to go out, I just want to hole up and be left alone. (By the way, I don't have "d" when I had/have gluten, I head straight towards constipation, so a bathroom issue isn't the...
  2. I'll throw my 2 cents in... I concur as well. I thought people were a little too much when they talked about cleaning out their beauty products, and after a few months, I found myself doing the same thing. That sensitivity thing really creeps up on you.
  3. I guess Sam's Club is switching their chicken seasoning around. Two weeks ago my Sam's Club had allergen free chicken, today wheat flour is the 1st ingredient. I am SO bummed. I loved getting that chicken. Why did they have to change it?????? I wanted to post this to make sure people were checking the labels, esp. since I gave out the info that...
  4. I read somewhere to use juice for the wine..I guess for white wine, white grape or apple.
  5. For some reason, I think that Marie's contains gluten. I buy the Litehouse brand, they are right next to the Marie's but their blue cheese is gluten free.
  6. I have licked my finger too, while helping my Mom clean her kitchen after a meal..and I licked stuffing! I was so mad at myself to, but did learn a lesson. So, you aren't the only one!!!
  7. You've gotten some great advice already. I like the idea of just doing it casually, not making a big deal out of it...maybe in a group setting, so he has time to understand it, and he won't feel pressured to say something right away. As everyone else here has said, the right guy will not find a problem with it, but will help. Have you read Gluten Free...
  8. By the way..I did have some coconut milk on hand, so in the name of science I decided to try frothing it for a cappucino. And....? It didn't work. Although now I have a great suggestion from jnclelland..thank you!!!
  9. I agree with Kyalesyin..I think that after 6 months you might not want to risk the salad dressing..but at the beginning it seems that those small amount don't do much. I found that was true for me. All my lotions had either wheat or oats...but I didn't figure that out until after being gluten free for 6 months. I was feeling worse, and wanted to find...
  10. I have been trying to give up dairy, and was wondering..have you used coconut milk for frothing for cappucino? I miss it, and do not like the soy (it doesn't really froth well), and was wondering if this might perform well... Can the coconut milk be used in all baking as well? Do you need to add or subtract it? Just curious before I go out...
  11. I haven't seen that here. I think many more people here have one, but not two. If you research the Entero lab results that people have posted here, you will see many of them have 1 gene.
  12. If it's coffee cake you are missing..someone here has to have a good recipe for you...just post a request in the recipes section...
  13. Up here in the Northeast our Sam's chicken is gluten free...I guess it pays to check the labels..ours has rice flour. I hate that..always double checking!!!
  14. I am so excited that there is a gluten free one! I didn't know..thanks for the info!
  15. I know..it does feel completely overwhelming at first. Just take it one step at a time. There are some great resources here, you will find a way to do this and enjoy yourself again. The ideas already stated are pretty much what I would say too. Good luck and know that you are not alone in your frustrations.
  16. Here is a gluten/dairy free recipe that my kids love, and they can eat gluten. They are fluffy, moist and don't taste gluten free. Takes 2 minutes to mix them up. Coconut flour is high fiber, and expensive, but you use very little. The mashed banana is optional. Oh, one more tip, they can stick. I use the natural paper liners, and they work great with...
  17. What kind of food are you craving? I have started keeping an online cookbook blog of recipes I have collected from here, from my regular kitchen staples, and from other sources, I could pull something off of that if you tell me what you like. I don't think I can post the website here, or in my profile. And they aren't my recipes, just an easy way for me...
  18. I haven't found a gluten free one..I did see a recipe for a homemade one on www.recipezaar.com. I don't find it spicy, I think it is kind of sweet and salty, and a little thick.
  19. Oh, and I forgot...someone told me that the Saving Dinner cookbook, by Leanne Ely, is mostly gluten free, and it has weekly menus and shopping lists that might help you while you are working your way out of the rut.
  20. I know, I was just going through that last week myself. Have you tried looking at gluten free blogs? Gluten Free Goddess (on blogger), has recipes labeled gluten free. And I tried this fabulous and easy to make ginger cake from Something In Season blog (also on blogger) that is dairy free and the kids love it. I can give you some other blogs if you...
  21. There is this feeling of being "less than" if you are only gluten intolerant...I feel that too. I do the same thing...I just say celiac when eating out, I didn't have official diagnosis either, and never will, I won't eat gluten again to find out. My family is very understanding, so I don't have to say anything there. Although, I just met up with...
  22. I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. You got such great advice already, I don't have much to add...the idea of having hamburger with potatoes is a great idea..and for flavor A1 is gluten free. I hope you find something you like to eat, and in the meantime you do have a responsibility to your children to get healthy and eat. Good luck.
  23. Thanks for sharing...now I know my favorite facial scrub is gluten free!!!!
  24. On a side note, I love the cause your special lemon poppyseed muffins, they taste like the real thing, and great to have on hand for a quickie... And, coconut oil rocks. I love it. Since you are so new at gluten free, did you make sure you followed the instructions to the letter? I find that gluten free baking is very exact..not as much leeway as...
  25. I make my own. Before you groan, it's not that hard, I make them skinless. My aunt did, and she wasn't even gluten intolerant. And there is nothing like pork sausage in sauce..yum. Basically, ground pork in bowl, add whatever seasonings you like, mix, chill for about an hour, roll into sausage shape, cook. They are awesome.
