How awful. I hope this situation doesn't drag on. Its good nonetheless that you have resources elsewhere. Maybe go on vacation for a while? Even if its just over the weekends. I recall that Seagull water filters remove bacteria. Does anyone here know for sure? Another maybe not so crazy idea: if you get enough sunlight you could set up a tub of water...

Cod liver oil has both very absorpable vitamin D and A as well as Omega 3's. If you are of Scandanavian descent its particularly apropos since its kind of hard wired in--since our ancestors relied on it. Some people have difficulty digesting it however due to lack of enough stomach acid. If so, try taking some HCL with it. There are also some (expensive...

Well everybody is different concerning flax. I find it helps me sleep though I need to limit it to 1 tablespoon a day freshly ground usually at night. I also use cod liver oil in the AM. Maybe these help balance each other?

I was like you and got no sniffles or anything for close to 2 years. But I had a series of CC's in late January after going off all trace glutens and got seriously sick these last 6 weeks. First with bronchitis, then UTI with some kidney inflammation, now also some kind of nasal congestion--despite doing everything right and taking lots of good herbs. I even...

ARCHIVED Can Taking "lactaid" Etc Harm You If You Are Not Lactose Intolerant?
YoloGx replied to toomuchagony's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi "Too Much"! Am glad my post was helpful. As I said I prepared it previously for someone else but thought why not also send it to you since you are a new comer. I also figure it could be useful to others here as well. I know what you mean about not being rich; I also try to fit these supplements etc. in as I can. These things make me feel so much... -
I agree, you may be eating other things you are intolerant to. I suggest you try going on a kind of fast, just eating some cooked vegetables you don't normally eat and maybe also rely on eating cooked slippery elm. Or, alternatively, just eat the slippery elm if nothing else agrees. It really is very soothing and healing. The formula for slippery...

I'll just add I tend to be B 1 deficient, not B 12. They don't make B 1 injections. So I take co-enzyme multiple vitamins to get 100 mg. of the B 1 each day -- balanced with the other B's (B 12 is in there however). The co-enzyme quality makes the B's go directly into the blood stream rather than having to be digested in the gut. As such one has to take...

ARCHIVED Physician's Formula Organic?
YoloGx replied to NewMrs.L's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It really isn't good. It was stuff like that that kept me glutened despite avoiding most other sources. When you buy things you have to watch ingredients like a hawk. I had to throw out some liquid hand washing soap in a nice pump that had caramel coloring in it--also gluten based. Etc. Etc. Trade off for me was no more joint pain, more clear thinking, no... -
You need to make sure your vitamins etc. have no trace gluten in them. And yes enzymes really do help.

HCL helps. And by the way that means hydrochloric acid. -
ARCHIVED Can Taking "lactaid" Etc Harm You If You Are Not Lactose Intolerant?

I know how confusing it can all be. It really is a lot to take in at once. It has taken me years. Fortunately now there is so much more info you can now find. I am working on a book exploring using herbs and alternative healing methods to make this and related conditions easier to deal with --which is why I have the following info already ready so to speak... -

I can understand your concern and frustration, however, why not use butter? It has no lactose in it. As far as the milk they call Lactaid, it will either work for you or not. I can't tolerate it but my mother and brother can. I don't think it will overall worsen your symptoms to try it. If it doesn't agree with you, it might set you back a day or two but... -
Well, for me I get a white coating on my tongue which is obvious in the morning before I brush my teeth. It also can cause a lot of farting and bloating--despite being on the gluten free diet. Sometimes my fecal material has white mucousy junk on it. All signs of a fungal infection. Sometimes too one can get jock rot or nail fungus. I have found fungus/candida...

Just wanted to say that the last time I got CC'd was when I got tea at a cafe. The food server had just made someone else a sandwich. The same kind of things may have happened to you. I am now more than a little paranoid about getting anything at a restaurant or cafe. I carry my thermos and food everywhere so I won't miss out on socializing and at the...

ARCHIVED Is There A Typical Range Of Extent/duration Of Recurrence Symptoms?
YoloGx replied to ellen123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Rescue Remedy is actually a Bach Flower remedy. I just discovered they make it with Brandy. Its possible there is gluten in it since sometimes they color brandy with caramel. I need to check this out. Rescue Remedy is also in a cream -- I still need to check the contents of it. At any rate Rescue Remedy helps a body deal better with any sudden shock.... -
Its possible that the dried fruit might be causing a problem. For me it stimulates a fungal reaction. If this is the case you might want to cut down on the amount of fruit you are eating. It also may be your body is in part detoxing. The coffee too might now be a little more of a problem since it is very stimulating. Instead you could try detox teas such...

I suggest taking some herbs. The best for this I think are the soothing herbs marshmallow root and/or slippery elm. Caps are the easiest however you can also cook them up. The slippery elm in particular is gloppy but healing. Put a tablespoon or two in small amount of water and mix til smooth. Then add a cup or two of water. Whisk with a wire whisk or...

ARCHIVED Disease Making Me Feel Isolated

Is Thai and Indian food actually gluten free? I went out to my mother's birthday party at a Thai restaurant and got glutened. Apparently I should have been more proactive though I hadn't had a problem with it previously. However previously I was still getting trace gluten with soaps and some supplements so that made me less reactive. Its worth getting my... -

Hi Welda, I guess I am still at the "spreading the word" stage due to it still being such a shock, after getting rid of all or most trace glutens, to no. 1) discover I could at age 58 finally get rid of joint pain that continued to plague me and 2) that I was less anxious when it comes time to maker order out to disorder with my personal stuff and 3) how... -

It really could be you are allergic/sensitive to something(s) else. I had to go on a elimination diet and discovered I had quite a few things I shouldn't eat or shouldn't eat that frequently. For instance I am allergic/sensitive to all nuts plus sesame seeds, alcohol, carrots, tuna, lamb, carob plus probably a few extra things I can't think of right now...

If there is some problem using baking soda please let me know. I am not aware of any problem. No chemicals, just easy...And my teeth are great. Especially since as I say I do take various mineral supplements I listed previously -- plus fibronylitic agents which reduce scarring and inflammation and help me metabolize those above minerals I am taking. Marshmallow... -

Not to contradict, however for me just using baking soda to brush with works great. Plus it helps keep down the residual candida.
