  1. My doctor said that the test is very expensive, about $100 Canadian. He said that the test isn't issued unless there is a good reason becasue of the high cost (Basically, if everyone got that test done our taxes would go up). Since you are from the US, I don't think that the expense would have been a problem since you pay for your own tests? (Correct me if...
  2. lol! Thanks. I was trying to be funny in that picture. I am wearing a cocktail dress over top of snow pants, and then I have my big faux-fur hooded coat overtop!
  3. Orville redenbacher's is gluten-free. I wouldn't eat popcorn from a movie theatre beacuse I am allergic to milk products. In order to eat safely at the theatre, you would have to be 100% sure that the popcorn was gluten-free, the butter was gluten-free, the powders were gluten-free (dill pickle, cheese, BBQ, ect). Also, if there are items for sale like hotdogs...
  4. People can have celiac disease and lactose intolerance. When people with celiac disease eat gluten, antibodies attack the small intestine and destroy the tips of the villi. The tips of the villi contain the enzyme to break down lactose; therefore, when the villi are damaged, individuals cannot digest lactose very well, if at all. The rash could be dh,...

  7. Ok, I have a few! I dislike that North Americans are obsessed with gluten and dairy. I dislike how gluten and dairy can be in almost anything. I dislike that our society is so dependant on fast food and processed food. I dislike that people are eating unhealthy and don't care. I dislike watching people eat gluten food when I'm hungrey and...
  8. I was tested for about 30 food allergies from one simple blood test! I live in Canada, but they must do this test in the US. I was tested for foods such as wheat, oats, rye, barley, milk, yeast, eggs, nuts, and different types of fruits and vegetables. I think there were 30 in total.
  9. Salmon and Carrot Bake Salmon, fresh or unthawed (as many pieces as you want) 1 bag of baby carrots 1-2 tablespoons of oil or sauce (fish sauce or olive oil) Mrs Dash Original Spice (to taste) 10 cloves optional: 1 onion 5 green onions mushrooms Place everything in a casserole dish and bake until the salmon is done, usually 15-20 minutes. ...
  10. I have reacted to Bob's Red Mill and I know that I few others on here have also reacted to their products. Here is the statement on their website: "Bob’s Red Mill stone grinds flours in a dedicated room for the production of its gluten-free line and performs batch testing before processing and after packaging. The company adheres to the Codex Alimentarius s...
  11. I have a few recipes on this thread: Open Original Shared Link
  12. ok... I don't eat cornmeal myself, but I would stay away from Quaker and Bob's Red Mill. Maybe you could order some from kinnikinnick, I consider their food safe. Open Original Shared Link
  13. I'm not sure about those, but I know that Old El Paso is gluten-free.
  14. I've heard that Quaker products are no longer safe. I also got sick from Bob's Red Mill (why do they label that stuff as gluten-free anyway?). There are some cornbread recipes in some of the gluten-free cookbooks. Do you have any of those?
  15. I thought that casein was removed from wine, but I had one glass of wine on the weekend and then I started having a typical dairy reaction within a few hours. So I did some reading and found that casein can still be present in some wines. I'm not drinking wine again until I find some vegan brands.
  16. Apparently wine can contain casein. I thought that casein was gone after the distilling process, but apparently casein can still be present in some wines. Here are some quotes: "Casein, a milk by-product, is also commonly used and its worth noting that many people have an allergy to casein. Again, improper filtering can leave residues." 17. I am allergic to milk so I avoid casein just like gluten. I read ingredients on labels just like I would with gluten. Here is a list of some foods that may have casein other than the obvious: potato chips popcorn (butter) margerine (whey) candy wine gluten free products boost (whey) rice crackers soups (some Thai kitchen soups have dairy in them)...
  18. Welcome! You seem quite sensitive to gluten. Try and make sure that anything that goes in or near you mouth is gluten-free. Check things like toothpaste, sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner, make-up, ect. Also, make sure that you have your own condiments, toaster, deep fryer, ect.
  19. Before I went gluten-free I had these symptoms: Bone pain in my knees, hips, and ankles More than average hair loss explosive gas severe bloating (I looked pregnant most of the time) diarrhea (almost 95% of the time, sometime quite severe) nausea extreme fatigue lack of energy anxiety irritability brain fog weight loss (I was underweight) weakness...
  20. I am casein free. Here is a list of some foods that may have casein other than the obvious: margerine (whey) boost (whey) potato chips candy wine gluten free baked goods rice crackers medication restaurant food flavored nuts popcorn (almost always had butter, look for all natural popcorn with no butter added).
  21. The ones I get will sometimes itch, especially if they're agitated. I usually get mine on my legs.
  22. That doesn't surprise me, especially after what happened to me last night at a liquor store. I was on my way to a friends house and I stopped into liquor store to buy my friend a bottle of wine. As soon as my boyfriend and I walked into the store, a lady asked to see my ID and then my boyfriend's ID (We are 24). My boyfriend said that he wasn't buying anything...
  23. I get red bumps and a rash when I accidentally have wheat.
  24. I eat those about twice a week! I love them! I know people who aren't on a gluten-free diet who also eat them and like them!
  25. I have had allergy testing done. I've had skin prick tests and blood tests and I found out that I am allergic to wheat, milk, and yeast. I also have celiac disease in addition to these allergies. If your tests come back negative for wheat, barely, rye, oats, and yeast, then I would suggest that you may be intolerant or sensitive to gluten. You could also...
