ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
mftnchn replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am so happy to be home for a week!!! Had a strange experience this last week, last Mon eve and especially Tuesday had fever like symptoms (no thermometer to check), fatigue, abdominal cramping. Was fine Wed, Thur, Fri. Thur/Fri had the massage, and Fri did the detox bath. Sat I was fine when I woke up but late morning on the way to the bus station... -

My doc told me last week that he wanted me to do 2 weeks of this when I get back to the USA to try it. Meanwhile I have my first batch of rice milk yogurt in the sun. I am so sorry to hear that, as I know you are very challenged. Wonderful news! Be sure you choose fish less likely to have mercury if you can. I really hope you can get a few... -

Patti--wow, you are baking already! That's a good way to settle in I think. -
ARCHIVED Any Reason To Get Pimples When Going *off* Something?
mftnchn replied to Offthegrid's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I had a mild breakout, that then cleared up. I learned it can be a process of the body ridding itself of toxins. -

woo hoo! I think eliminating the local ascorbic acid is really paying off! BM much much better today. -

I think if you have gone that route before, had the biopsy and everything, and are already gluten-free, I wonder what they can do for you? IBS diagnosis sure won't help. On the other hand, it would be good to rule out anything else going on that is severe. It's a hard call sometimes. -

LOL, what's rest???? Seriously, the last couple of days have been nice. I am enjoying my friend's visit. We went shopping a bit on Wednesday, and last night had a young lady come here and do an hour massage for each of us. I'm going to do that again! It was just about $6 for the hour, and was a nice way to feel spoiled! Besides, it should help with... -

Carla, that sounds miserable. At the same time, the good news is that the treatment is working and that there will be an end to this. Glad you found the pills before they were gone for good. Kristina, I just hope you can hang in there and find some answers soon. Kassandra, I hope this doctor is correct and the spine isn't as bad as you thought... -

I think all of them if strong enough are something I want to avoid! I lived in another place in Asia before 2000, and we had a severe earthquake (7.6) about 25 KM epicenter from where I lived. It was a horrible frightening experience, even though our house didn't sustain significant damage. Things were thrown around. We woke up from a sound sleep... -

Quick drive by with update from my appointment with my doc: He is generally pleased with the progress, and thinks my latest illness this week was from gluten last Friday in that swallow of wheat tea I got by accident. I do have to cut back on my antifungals and abx due to the liver enzymes being elevated. No spirulena--as he is worried about contamination... -

I am arriving January 15th, and leaving again end of March. I take magnesium with Vitamin C in a buffered powder, and first thing in the morning and again at night. Jin, it was a pure ascorbic acid that I got in a chemist shop. I just don't know what it was derived from. The first box I got seemed fine, then the second seemed to... -

Thanks Andrea. I have tried the cashew cheese on pizza and love it, so need to do more experimenting! -
I've flown China Air but not since gluten-free, I know that Korean Air doesn't offer gluten-free options.

ARCHIVED Enterolab Accuracy
mftnchn replied to JustMe75's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There have been people here who have posted negative results, and your question about this has been asked before here on the forum. You might do a search and see. I think it is pretty reliable after looking up Dr. Fine's background and record, and reading another poster's comments who works in a laboratory and looked over the whole thing. I think it... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed Here And Have Some Questions!
mftnchn replied to blondebombshell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think if you have an allergy to gluten and egg white, that your symptoms should improve relatively soon after you eliminate them from your diet. Be sure to fully eliminate them. You might post your test results here, that helps us know what you were tested for. Also post the normal ranges given on the results. If you have more than a gluten allergy... -
ARCHIVED Is This Normal? Tummy Problems After Going Gluten Free.
mftnchn replied to Peej's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think it may be normal for there to be shifts during the healing process. However, I think foods easy to digest may help, and if not, perhaps an elimination diet to see what might be a problem. -
ARCHIVED 3 Weeks Into Gluten Free Diet.
mftnchn replied to Andy-oh's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Andy, I went through a body readjustment process just like you are describing. It actually has lasted weeks and even months, but I especially noticed it at first. I actually got worse rather than better, but my symptoms prior to gluten-free were not that apparent. I felt strange too, like shifts were taking place. Had a period of acne like when I... -
ARCHIVED Bread Maker...bad News
mftnchn replied to ConnieA84's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Every bread machine is slightly different from what I understand. Also I find that the temperature in the room (time of year) makes a difference to the rise, and that I actually have to adjust the yeast amount. Your package could have been on the shelf awhile and in hot weather and the yeast not so active anymore. I do all of my own breads from scratch... -

A quick drive by....I am busy early am to late pm these days so will have to catch up later. I won't get home from my trip until next weekend. Hope you are all doing okay. I'll try to catch up next week. I've been really having trouble again with constipation, and just discovered that the local ascorbic acid I am taking was maybe the culprit. It... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free/dairy Free Cheese
mftnchn replied to Aligray's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought the cashew cheese substitute sounded very strange but got around to trying it a few weeks ago and put it on pizza. It really tastes good, and my husband likes it too. The consistency on the pizza is more like cream cheese. I haven't tried it yet as a spread on crackers and stuff but think it might be quite good. I am enjoying the pizza so much... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance/celiac disease? Or Something Else (long)
mftnchn replied to tiredtwinmommy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with Carla. Also I think you have to consider what kind of diagnosis you need for yourself and why. Some want a gold standard diagnosis (positive biopsy) just for themselves as they know they won't stay on the diet without it. Some want it because of family and friends support--and those folk need "proof." Some want confirmation from medical... -

LOL, I wonder what I am? Anyway, it is nice to have friends around the world. Just a thought, it might not be what you just ate, maybe look back at your records for 4 days and see if anything stands out. Sure hope you are better soon. Sounds like you have put a lot of energy into your health without much to show for it. And I have been... -
My sense is that it is worth a full assessment. Besides the lyme, the heavy metals seem to be another factor. At least be sure these are okay, as this may ultimately overcome your system if you are not getting rid of them. If it was me I would pursue it. I had 17 years of joint and muscle pain, which had a huge impact on my life--the energy I had...
