ARCHIVED New Member Symptoms For Years
mftnchn replied to Nan 70's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, if you tested positive celiac, seems like that is a good place to start. If you don't see any change in your symptoms after being very strict on the diet for awhile, you can keep looking. There are celiacs here with primarily neurological symptoms. You might check out the lyme disease thread that has a long list of symptoms, too. Some of us have... -
Great to see you all here and read your stories. Andrea, we NEED a cheerleader! One more thing about lyme as I understand it: There are various strains of borrelia and the other co-infections. This could explain the variation in symptoms. At least one of the co-infections is a protozoan I believe. So "lyme disease" may refer to a cluster of illnesses...

ARCHIVED Normal Food Suggestions
mftnchn replied to Suffering in Ohio's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sometimes I say I have celiac, and its a lot like having a very severe allergy. If they want to know more, I explain that gluten is like a poison and causes destruction of the small intestine, and effects other parts of the body. Some of my friends are quite interested, but most people understand "severe allergy" so I just use that to explain. I can... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free 2 Months And Burned Out
mftnchn replied to bellabrit7's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just a note: I make my own brownies from scratch too. I used my same recipe with a high quality (not grainy) brown rice flour instead of flour. I couldn't tell any difference in the taste, consistency was more crumbly, they didn't hold together too well. So next time I will add xanthan gum. My friend couldn't tell the difference between the gluten... -
ARCHIVED Undiagnosed Celiac?
mftnchn replied to junky's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, it sure sounds like testing for celiac is one thing that should happen. There are 5 blood tests to get for the whole celiac panel. Someone here can tell you all five. Also be aware that blood tests can be false negative but are unlikely to have a false positive. Also people can have negative blood tests but positive biopsy. Both blood tests... -

ARCHIVED Msg Allergy -- Will It Go Away?
mftnchn replied to Maureen73's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi, my allergist just told me the other day that in the USA MSG is either wheat-based or beet-based. So other than the MSG issues generally, you might want to be sure of the source of the MSG. -
You are very welcome. Are you diagnosed with celiac or just considering that possibility?

Hi Micah, I have been there too. Please hang in there and keep persisting. Your experience with your doctor is not unusual. The floaters are really a common symptom for lyme. Re parasites. The usual stool specimen doesn't work because ameoba for example disintegrates if exposed to oxygen. Its been a long while since I tested. The first test required...

Okay, last section of my story: Co-existing issues. Allergies went crazy about the same time as the lyme symptoms started. Foods, chemicals and inhalents. I was a universal reactor. We thought the pain symptoms were also allergy problems. My allergist said he thought something had hit my immune system hard, but we didn't discover what. He did discover...

My treatment story: I was on a series of different antibiotics, 6 weeks or so of each. I started with peniciliin shots, and also did IV rocephin (sp?), and the rest were oral. I had die-off reactions, which was the only sign we were on the right track. Both the doctor and I had doubts after several months of treatment, but kept going. It took eight...

My story prior to diagnosis and treatment: After many years of symptoms that started in the early 1980's, I was diagnosed with lyme disease in 2000. I had a tick bite back then in the Taiwan countryside. My symptoms are primarily fatigue, brain fog, and muscle/joint pain in the back and extremities. The pain moved around. The initial episode was...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have A Problem With Constipation?
mftnchn replied to marlene57's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Burdee. I will try this in a week or two. Currently I am testing whether grain-free and legume free makes any difference. I don't want to try everything at once! -
In fear and trepidation I decided to try eating at the Outback in Beijing last week. I asked them to make my salad in its own bowl, no dressing. Emphasized it couldn't touch any wheat. I asked them to make a plain steak and clean the grill before doing it. Then I had a baked potato with chives and bacon. I did just fine. I'm about 3 months gluten...

Just a note, as I have caught up on reading the threads. I think many very good things have been said about what has happened here. I have really appreciated this thread too, and both Rachel and Carla's contributions as well as many others. I've appreciated that several people have even researched or looked for information in my behalf. I have noticed... -
Great thread, Carla!! I had 13-15 of these symptoms when I was diagnosed in 2000. Perhaps we could also post some of the treatment approaches?

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have A Problem With Constipation?
mftnchn replied to marlene57's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
looks like I may be having improvement with: no grains, no legumes, plus high magnesium (1600mg) plus high vitamin C (4000+ mg). I'll post again after I see if this is consistent. -

Hi Burdee, No supplements are available locally. For me, I have to order online and then have someone hand carry them. If they ship overseas, the shipping costs are outrageous, they sometimes don't arrive and supplements are suspect in customs. I figured it might be the form of magnesium. No I am dairy free. -
I am guessing it has to do with the concentration of soy proteins.

Hi everyone. I am really busy so can't read the posts yet, will try to later if I can. Just a note that I am much better today. 4th day off all grains and legumes. The day before my next flagyl dose. Also, yesterday I was feeling really fatigued, thought it might be allergy withdrawal symptoms. I remembered my allergist told me I could take 200... -

Your later post said it looked just like a deer tick. I'd say you need to follow up on this right away. If you did get a bite that transmitted one of the lyme buggies like borrelia, if you don't get antibiotic treatment in the first month, and long enough to wipe it out, it will become chronic. Sorry are you in a lyme endemic area? Do you have a... -

Hi, everyone. Starting my third day of grain free, legume free. Pain has been intensifying and not sure if it is connected. My last metronadazole was Saturday, so it could be that. Lately the symptoms seem worse on the second day after. If this is the mercury, not sure what else i can do right now to get rid of it! Sherry -

Carla, I have been looking into the Detoxamin. I wonder if you see improvement in the herx when you take this?
