  1. Excellent advice. I did those checks myself at every meal and it was quite helpful in showing me what increased my BS the most.
  2. Ask your doctor for a fasting glucose and an A1C. Make sure you haven't eaten or drunk anything other than water for 12 hours before the test. If you are pre-diabetic try to eat low glycemic index foods and cut your carb consumption. Your rheumy can order the tests for you if you don't trust your regular doctor.
  3. No harm done. Maybe use a 'smily face' or the 'LOL' one after a kidding remark like that so us 'tech challenged' that aren't as tech savvy know your kidding.
  4. Your not that much over the upper level. I wouldn't worry about it but you should cut down your supplements level a bit as you are basically peeing away your money. Go to every other day or even every three days. Have your doctor check your levels again on your next visit to make sure the levels have gone down a bit and that they haven't dropped too far.
  5. It is hard when you have so little time to cook. I do voluteer work and don't have the hectic schedule you have but I do have a couple of go to things on the days I have to work and am too tired to cook. One of them is Dinty Moore Beef stew. I add a handful of frozen peas or beans while it is heating so it is a complete meal. I also do a lot of rice and do...
  6. I have been gluten free now for 9 years and my reactions to gluten are still very, very severe. The only thing that has lessened is my DH but the extreme bowel issues including bleeding, brain fog, depression and joint pain are still debilitating.
  7. This has me a bit concerned. I do value my privacy. If I want folks to know where I live I will tell them. The idea that someone can find where I live is a bit worrisome. I guess that is now my biggest pet peeve and will be something I am going to have to take into serious consideration.
  8. That is one of the hallmarks of DH although there are some folks who may only get lesions on one side of their body it is usually bilateral.
  9. It is also true that just because your tests are negative doesn't mean you aren't celiac. It was doctors all out faith in the accuracy of blood work that lead me almost to deaths door before I was diagnosed. That thinking cost me many, many painfilled years. As I have said before since folks with DH are diagnosed celiac without any gut damage at all there...
  10. The object of the diet is to get the antibodies down. We can not be tested while we are gluten free as that will insure a false negative. You can stick with the diet if it is helping but if you need to have a doctor derived diagnosis you need to go back on gluten for at least 3 months and then retest. However if your responding well to the diet you may find...
  11. I get pain in my bones also when glutened. For me it usually hits the knees, ankles and hands which were the areas where my arthritis was the worst on gluten. I think it has something to do with inflammation and for me plain asprin helps the most.
  12. Many will be on the forum until they are feeling better and have a good understanding of what is going on and how to protect themselves. Others remain, sometimes for years, to help others and give support. It doesn't mean they are still suffering greatly. I had DH since childhood but haven't had an outbreak now in years even though I have been glutened a...
  13. Yea and boy does it hurt. I hope it clears up soon for you. If you haven't already try to make sure your hair care products are also gluten free.
  14. Happy Sinterklaas! I am happy that I woke up this morning and that I have a low stress day today. I am also happy that my Christmas shopping is done and will have fun wrapping and packing stuff off for shipping to my family in plenty of time to beat the rush.
  15. I would have to say likely 100+ also. I grew up in the era of 'got the sniffles get an antibiotic'. I did get sick alot though. It seemed anything that was going around I would get it. Chronic brochitis every winter and every flu or tummy bug would get me. Oddly enough since diagnosis I haven't even had a sniffle now in years.
  16. When the kids were home I decorated inside and out the day after Thanksgiving. We had to have a fake tree because of allergies so it was no problem keeping it up until the Ephipany. Growing up the decorations always stayed up until then cause it was the 12th day of Xmas and my Mom's birthday. I don't know if I am going to put the tree up this year as...
  17. Mine changed in intensity over my lifetime also. At times I had only a couple lesions, at times I would be covered in them. I also saw great relief as soon as I went gluten free. It took time for the active lesions to heal but I stopped getting new ones within a couple weeks. However even a tiny bit of CC would cause an outbreak within minutes of injestion...
  18. Tell the doctor thanks but no thanks. Follow Skylark's advice and stay strictly gluten free and then go back in six months to retest and see if the levels have gone down. That and feeling better on the diet is proof enough that the diet is needed and your doctor should be able to diagnose you based on that.
  19. Jason try not to worry about it until you get the test results back. When you get the results post them if they are not normal and perhaps someone will have some answers for you. With the previous elevated ALT hopefully you are being kind to your liver and either avoiding alcohol altogether or at least drinking very little.
  20. What was it about 'I am allergic to iodine' that they didn't understand. Geesh! What a horrible thing to go through. Your lucky you survived that. I wish just eliminating iodine had been the trick for me. I spent most of my life covered in oozing sores until I was finally diagnosed celiac. Strangely I had an aversion to salt also for most of my life....
  21. You are an unusual case if just eliminating iodine while still eating gluten was enough to clear up the DH. Most don't need iodine and gluten both for a DH outbreak. The antibodies from gluten is the cause of the DH. Iodine will keep the antibodies active in the skin though. Most folks after a time gluten and iodine free will be able, and should, add iodine...
  22. Make ya wonder doesn't it? With so many modern grain products fortified I also wonder how much nutrition they really have other than as carbs. How desperate to fill their bellies were the first folks who thought to try grinding some up and cooking it? I know my pets seem to do best on a grain free diet.
  23. (((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))) Thanks for the update. I was wondering how you were doing. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there.
  24. Call the doc and tell him you want a celiac panel done if it hasn't been done already. The doctor works for you and with the Marsh scale being mentioned in the report he should have already done it. I am not a doctor but from what I have seen on scope reports it looks much more likely that what you are dealing with is celiac not lymphoma. It is good that...
  25. If they are still consuming gluten then yes do go ahead and test being aware that even on gluten there could still be a false negative. Having the formal diagnosis will be helpful to keep them safe in school and later in college.
