  1. I think this is an excellent way to deal with this with the kids. As to your husband you have my sympathy. He is selfish and childish. I also had a husband who put his wants and needs before the kids. Now that they are adults he is paying for it big time. I hope your husband can be made to realize what his actions are doing to your son now could have serious...
  2. Another thought about CC, is you boyfreind gluten-free? If he isn't, and it sounds like he's not, is he brushing his teeth to remove any gluten residue before you guys kiss? If not that could be contributing to your glutenings. It is hard when our family doesn't understand fully the CC risk. If you can sit them down and explain it to them fully or invite...
  3. How about raisens, gluten-free pretzels, cut up cheese and fruit and gluten-free Chex.
  4. If your scalp calmed down without the use of salt you may want to drop it for a bit. Once you have been a while without any outbreaks you can add it back in. I know how miserable you must be and I hope things clear up for you soon.
  5. If the DH is active then they should be able to pick up the antibodies if they biopsy correctly. Although I had DH severely and for most of my life I stopped getting new outbreaks within a couple months gluten free. I was extremely strict and realized early on that I react to distilled gluten grains in vinegar and alcohol so I cut those out also. They would...
  6. As long as your not around airborne flour I would think just washing your hands and keeping them away from your face etc should do the trick.
  7. Congrats. I agree Charli would be a great name for a girl.
  8. Peanuts are a legume not a true nut. However if you have multiple allergies and your reactions are severe you may want to get tested for tree nuts at some point if you are not sure whether you are actually allergic to them. I really can't advise on whether to risk it or not though. Open Original Shared Link While “nut” is in their name, peanuts are...
  9. This would be a valid concern also.
  10. Have you eliminated gluten from all your toiletries and shampoos, hair dye (if you use it) lotions etc? Just in case you have this issue also, don't know if you do, I get intensely itchy scalp and lesions from soy protein in shampoos etc. I have an actual allergy as well as intolerance to soy. Are you sensitive to soy by any chance?
  11. Just because your panel was negative 3 years ago doesn't mean it would have been negative before you started the diet in last month. A negative blood panel also doesn't rule out celiac, nor does a negative biopsy. False negatives in both are all too common. You clearly react to gluten and feel free to call yourself whatever you are comfortable with. Even...
  12. Antibiotic D takes a while to hit usually. My bet is also on the antibiotics. They do upset the gut flora but it does usually take a few days for them to do so. What I do when I or my children had to take them is I start with the yogurt on the first day. That seems to help me prevent the GI antibiotic effect from happening. Keep up with the yogurt a couple...
  13. Your doctor is wrong. The blood test looks for antibodies and if your not eating gluten your not going to be forming antibodies. You need to stay on gluten until all your testing is done. As soon as you are done with testing start the diet. Your response to the diet is the best diagnostic tool for whether you need the diet or not.
  14. You can go ahead and start on the gluten-free diet now that the biopsy is done. You don't need to wait for the results. Do keep in mind that there are false negative results with the biopsy as well as the blood tests so a trial of the diet is needed no matter what the results.
  15. Let your doctor know how the challenge is effecting you and ask if you should continue. If your date for the camera scope is less than a couple months away if a doctor derived diagnosis is important to you then you should talk to the doctor about rescheduling. That said you don't need the doctors permission to eat gluten free. If you are in an area where...
  16. Well it sounds like your in the right place. You felt better gluten free and see symptoms return when you accidentally get gluten and feel horrible on the challenge. No matter what your test shows you need to get back on the diet after the test is finsihed. Please be aware that even though your symptoms are back it doesn't mean that the camera scope will...
  17. Dannon has more than one website depending on what country your in. That may account for the difference. I go with Yoplait or the Wegmans brand also.
  18. Country Life also makes some good ones. The excessive hunger is normal, make sure you are getting plenty of protein and nutrient dense foods while you are healing. Once you have healed the constant hunger should level off.
  19. (((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))) Yes it will be hard for him to deal with and for you also. It is normal for him to be angry about the diagnosis but hopefully today or tommorrow you two will be able to sit down and talk about it.
  20. That sounds like so much fun although I am sure it is a lot of work. Congrats on getting the part.
  21. "I was hungry for breakfast Thursday morning and got the ham and eggs from the caf." To me it sounds like you got glutened at the caf. If your worried about the side effects of Prilosec have you tried Pepto Bismal? That helps me best with the stomach pain I get from soy or gluten. Of course the best thing to do is avoid the items you have problems with...
  22. I eat the Starkist in the gold can all the time. It is gluten free. I react to soy oil and all the others have soy in them. Has the mustard or if you used it mayo been used by gluten eaters? If so then double dipping may have CC'd you.
  23. Natural American Spirit is gluten free, it has only tobacco and is the brand I smoke. I believe Winston is also but not sure. If your just holding it and not smoking it I wouldn't worry about which one you use. You could always 'fake' taking a drag unless they want you to hold it in your mouth hanging out the side for the show. What play are you doing...
  24. In my opinion you should look for a different product. Anything you put on your body or hair has the capacity to make it into your mouth or nose. I also wouldn't want the mist floating around and landing on my toothbrush, handles of my faucet etc.
  25. In my opinion no they wouldn't have the physical addiction to it. People can be psychologically addicted to anything though. What you are doing by being gluten free and then eating it is a mini-challenge. Your body seems to be clearly telling you it doesn't want gluten. Up to 30% of celiacs have false negatives on the blood tests and false negatives are...
