  1. Yes I did have the spinal tap. The tap itself was not bad but the headache was incredible the next day so I can understand your reluctance. I haven't had the brain MRI redone since I was diagnosed so I don't know if the lesions are still there. It did take quite a while to see improvement and I did have some ups and downs, especially until I realized I am...
  2. Your B12 is quite low and I am glad you are supplementing it. What are you eating? You should go with as much fresh unprocessed food as you can as it will help you heal faster. Do watch out for gluten-free foods with Codex Wheat Starch, which I think is more common over there than it is here in the US. Digestive Enzymes might help you out but do read the...
  3. No to both questions. Some doctors would call me 'gluten sensitive' since I don't have either DQ2 or DQ8 but as you can tell by my signature the effects gluten had on me were severe.
  4. Carolina Your link didn't work work for me. One other thing to note is that if any of your drugs are generic you or the pharmacist should be checking with the company at each refill as the binders can be changed at the companies will. With name brand drugs the binders need to stay the same. Also any list can be out of date as of the day it was last updated...
  5. I used to be a sub. Each teacher was required to have a 'sub packet' with any info the sub needed from lesson plans to who could sit near who. Your children's teachers have likely got these so have the info added to it.
  6. Just because you had a negative blood test when younger doesn't mean it will be negative now. If your doctor is willing you can have them write you a script for the test and pick it up and have it done. That said you don't need a doctors permission to go gluten free and the diet is actually a healthy one. There is noting in gluten food that you can't find...
  7. You poor thing. I agree with the previous poster that you need to engage Dad in some chores that need to be done and also perhaps an occasional walk around outside or just have him go into the yard with the kids so you can destress or take a nap. Do you have a high school close by? Sometimes you can connect with older teens who could come and help out a bit...
  8. It could have been brain fog but I think the real key is in this statement " I just remember looking down or something, and when I refocused forward, people were braking...hard" You were moving fast, in heavy traffic, and for some reason traffic was stopping fast and you didn't notice in time or space to avoid hitting the car in front of you. Accidents...
  9. My kids do. I also have two copies of the same gene and my Mom was not diagnosed but had all the symptoms and my Dad, from what I remember, had some of the neuro ones and had the celiac 'beer gut'.
  10. If you are close enough to be 'intimate' you should be close enough to discuss the gluten issue with her.
  11. It does contain soy though. As I said in my other post I think you should try to go without soy for a bit and see if it helps.
  12. I also think you should drop the soy, just because you have been eating it your whole life doesn't mean it may not be affecting you. After all until you were diagnosed you ate wheat your whole life right? I would also drop the Amy's foods. They are hit and miss as far as CC goes. I know you are reluctant to go with drugs, I was too. I fought for years not...
  13. Yes it is likely related and should improve after she has been on the diet and healed. The advice to check her vitamin levels was good and I would have her doctor do this. Sublingual B12 can help with these issues.
  14. Yes you do need to keep eating gluten until the biopsy is done. After the biopsy you can start a diet trial. False negatives are not uncommon with both blood and biopsy so do the trial even if the test results are negative. Your doctor should also have ordered a total IGA and there are a couple of other tests that can be done but I can't think of the names...
  15. This is strictly my opinion but with the anemia, her test results, her response to the gluten free diet and a family history of celiac I think you already have the answer. I hope the doctor is able to give you a firm answer and that after testing is done you get her on the diet, if the specialist demands a challenge, or keep her on it.
  16. There are fairly high rates of false negatives with the blood tests. Were you gluten free or gluten light when the panels were drawn? If you were that could be one reason why but false negatives occur even when folks are eating a full gluten diet. If you have resolution of your issues gluten free you don't need a doctors permission to be gluten free. There...
  17. I would be reluctant to have her do a gluten challenge also. You may want to do the first visit with copies of her tests and medical records in hand including growth charts if she has fallen down in growth rate, detailed info about her symptoms and if her playschool teachers have seen a difference in her since she started the diet and/or observed her reactions...
  18. I have to agree, although boys can be just as rough. Heck if I say the sky is blue I am sure to hear that it is really green. Mom's are never right about anything and everything is always our fault at that age so, as said, do try not to take it too personally. Yea it is hard to be the odd one out. Both of my young adults are now over 18 and choose to not...
  19. The 'scripts' for gluten-free food mainly apply to folks in, I think, the UK and perhaps other places in Europe. In the US we can do a write off of the difference between gluten free food and regular as a medical expense but your medical expenses need to be really high and it is a lot of paperwork and very complicated. If your in the US your tax guy would...
  20. That's good news that your test results were negative this time as it shows you are doing the diet strictly. A negative retest is what we are striving for. If you are not eating gluten you are not forming antibodies that are what the test is looking for. Stay on the diet, you were diagnosed and you have shown progress not only health wise but with the negative...
  21. Take it date by date for now. If she really likes you and you really like her it will work out.
  22. Perhaps simply give the folks the name of the product and tell them to use a search engine to find out where it is sold. Most are savvy enough to know how to do a search in google, yahoo etc.
  23. I could have written your post. Even after 8 years gluten free my little dog refuses to come into the kitchen when I am cooking because I used to drop so many things and a pan banging will send him running from his usual spot in the doorway. Did you see the MRI films? If you did were something called UBOs mentioned or did you see any small white spots in...
  24. Your GI has been outvoted 3 to 1. I would consider myself diagnosed. Since you, I think, are somewhere where you can get reimbursed or a script for gluten-free food perhaps the GP could give you the 'formal' diagnosis in your records.
  25. Without air borne flour it could be safe if you take some precautions. Can you store you water bottle and purse someplace else for starters? Wear your gloves constantly, it might help to get a mask to cover your mouth and nose so you don't unconsiously touch them. If it is possible to talk to your manager and see if you can do more of your shifts in a different...
