  1. You actually can eat chicken and fish on the paleo diet, along with veggies, like carrots, turnips, parsnips, eggs fruits, nuts and berries. It isn't a vegatarian or raw diet. You would avoid grains, sugar, dairy, potatoes and beans and processed foods.
  2. It's great to hear things went well. I hope you have more and more positive experiences.
  3. It can take some time to get over a challenge. You've only been back to gluten free for a day or two and it may take a while to get back to normal. Especially if you had been gluten-free for a while a challenge can make you even sicker than before you went gluten-free. Also if your challenge was for the purpose of testing by blood or biopsy and you had been...
  4. I had a CT done at one time after a severe glutening that I didn't realize was a glutening. I hadn't been gluten-free for very long at the time. The only things they found were that my intestinal wall was thickened and of course I also had excess gas. For me soy and glutenings will give me what I call 'pencil' stools, very thin and narrow so in my own case...
  5. For me it is the little frosted mini wheat guys dancing around saying how your kids will think better in school after eating them.
  6. Rice Milk is safe, except for Rice Dream which uses barley in the processing. I like and use the Wegmans brand daily. Hemp milk is also good as are almond milk. I used Ghee for a lot of stuff which is clarified butter and is casien and lactose free. I also use rice a lot but I make sure to rinse it throughly before I cook it. There is also wild rice, which...
  7. Yes it is, it can also be soy derived which is also an issue for me. If the tocepheral is D-tocepheral it is not derived from either soy or wheat. That's what I look for in supplements and topicals. Garneir makes some good safe products, I use them for skin and hair care but do read the labels. Suave and Dove supposedly are good at labeling for gluten...
  8. For rice milk if you live near a Wegmans their rice milk is for sure safe. It is imported from Canada and Wegmans is very strict on the gluten issue. It is the one I use for chocolate milk as I don't care for any milk straight.
  9. As someone who has been fighting serious agoraphobis now for a year and a half I have to agree with the little baby steps at first. That's how I have come along the best. Another thing you may want to consider is asking your doctor if it is okay to take a half a valium before you do something that has brought these attacks on. That's called propholactic ...
  10. I would hold off on the oatmeal for a bit. Some of us react to even the gluten free oats.
  11. Yes it could be. You may even have an allergy to wheat as well as celiac, some do. I would use a different hairspray and good for you for making sure the other stuff is gluten free already.
  12. Try dropping the rice cakes and cereal. What are you putting on the cereal? If it is Rice Dream rice milk that is not safe for us. Add in rice, potatoes, well cooked veggies and fruits. Cream of buckwheat cereal is good if you have to have a cereal in the morning. The less processed foods the better for healing.
  13. Something you may want to look into is Enterolab testing. They do not diagnose celiac but they can tell you if the girls are making antibodies to gluten. I think they can find the stool antibodies up to a year after someone goes gluten free. A few doctors accept their test results but not all because they have not been peer reviewed. Since you mentioned...
  14. Here is a bit of info from WebMD Open Original Shared Link And a bit more from NIH medline site Open Original Shared Link
  15. Here is a good link to Raynaud's from the NIH. Anything in Wikipedia should be taken with 'a grain of salt' they may have some good info but IMHO going to a medical related site is better. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/raynaud/ray_what.html
  16. It very well may have something to do with it. She may be having a hard time dealing with her Dad being gone and the uncertainty of not knowing when she will see him again. Perhaps a bit of counseling might help. I also had a really hard time with my kids when they were this age the rejection and hypercriticalness was so hard to deal with. It is hard not...
  17. This is found in some young people and doctors call it the 'Honeymoon Effect' and it is why they used to think kids would outgrow celiac. However, and the however is a biggie, they now know that celiac can not be 'outgrown'. The symptoms may lessen but damage is still being done. GI symptoms may seem to resolve but the autoimmune attack will continue sometimes...
  18. The villious atrophy is the gold standard for celiac diagnosis, you are diagnosed no matter what the test results say. As for the little ones, I do wish you had their blood tested before going gluten free. They both clearly have have had positive results with the diet and slip ups have shown the issues returning. Talk to your ped and let the ped know that...
  19. Okay like what I call Shepard's pie only with fish. Was there a 'gravy' in the pie? That could have been thickened with wheat. Of it could have just be CC if there was bread and other stuff that was being shared or if it was cooked in a not gluten free kitchen.
  20. Couldn't have said it better myself. For all you know you may find her eating off the gluten-free menu also if this is a first date. Don't worry about it, just order as you usually order and enjoy her company.
  21. Pretty quickly. Like about a month. I would still have occasional issues until I stopped the soy but now I only have an issue when I accidentally eat something I shouldn't. The pepto liquid stops the pain in minutes when that happens and I usually don't need to take it more than once.
  22. I don't know if it was neuro related pain but I would think it had to do with the severe cramping. You mention eating 'fish pie' to me a pie has a crust, if it did it wasn't CC it was a full out glutening. We can't just eat the filling out of a pie or pick croutons out of a salad. Also it takes time to heal, it is not an instant process so to still get...
  23. First for you ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))) How long has she been diagnosed? If it hasn't been long she may be going through both withdrawl and the grief process. She loves you, your close to her and you are the person it is 'safe' to lash out at. It is hard and I wish I had some answers for you. You have my sympathy as I do remember those days...
  24. Immuoglobulin A 381 (81-463) This is your total IGA. That is in normal ranges which means if your original tests at diagnosis showed an elevated IGA in the celiac tests then yes that would be diagnostic. That the numbers have gone down to normal levels would show that you are doing well on the diet.
