  1. I would put your son's. More doctors are accepting Enterolab as part of the diagnosis process and I think it might make for confusion if you later show them to a doctor and your name is listed as the person being tested.
  2. I would have a derm look at the rash. DH is usually little blisters and in most it itches horribly. Not saying it definately isn't DH but since the rash is active and spreading it bears a pro looking at it. A derm can biopsy clear skin next to the rash to see if it is DH.
  3. I never thought of using a spray bottle, duh. I must be going brain dead as I have even advised that for others for keeping them off counters. Hadn't thought of using one for this purpose. Thanks.
  4. We have come to realize that our oldest kitty is pretty much totally deaf. This is something that came to my attention a month or two ago. It of course makes her a bit easy to startle but the real issue is my two other cats. They seem to be picking on her terribly and not in fun ways. There was quite a row last night in the middle of night and it was the...
  5. Just a quick note on the gene issue. Many doctors only test for two of the 9 genes associated with celiac disease. If you do a gene test and only DQ2 and DQ8 are looked for then IMHO the gene test is worthless. I am very, very thankful that I wasn't gene tested until 5 years after diagnosis. And I am very angry that my blood and biopsy diagnosed DD had her...
  6. Yes a doctor can diagnose without the biopsy. I had been gluten free for a couple months before I could get into the GI doctor after my allergist finally 'diagnosed me' through an elimination diet. The GI doctor of course demanded another gluten challenge before the biopsy 'to be on the safe side' LOL. Anyway the day of the biopsy I had reacted so violently...
  7. My symptoms are a little different from yours as I get neuro effects also, oh joy, but the timing of the severe pain and D is about the same. I found name brand Pepto Bismal to help a lot with the stomach pain, it does nothing for the intestinal cramps and D though. For me once the D hits, and like with you it hits hard, for me that last about 3 hours then...
  8. I think you hit the nail on the head with your last sentence. Change those products and see if it makes a difference. It isn't unusual for some of us to have symptoms that are more on the mild side, some folks have no symptoms at all and are discovered when doctors are looking for something else. The villi have a pretty quick 'turnover' rate but it...
  9. I'm not Tarnelberry but I also have very dry skin. Two of my favorite products are NOW Cocoa Butter and Jojoba Oil and the plain Shea Butter. Both are sold in jars and are solid at room temp but they melt into your skin on contact. There is nothing in either other than the CB and J and the S, no other ingredients.
  10. We do often have different levels of sensitivity here. Since you are newly diagnosed I would wait a bit and then perhaps think of giving them a try... if you turn out to be someone who is less rather than more sensitive. I am very sensitive and avoid them.
  11. In additon celiac is not an allergy it is an autoimmune disease. Allergy testing will NOT pick up celiac. If the doctor will guide you through an elimination diet that however could be helpful, not all allergist will so do call and ask before the appointment.
  12. I am going to put it short and sweet. I would give him a couple of months trial on the diet after all the testing is done. False negatives in children are even more common than in adults.
  13. If you are still in pain you could try liquid name brand Pepto Bismal. It works for me very well and very quickly. As another poster stated not all Tums are gluten free so please do call them about any of their products before you take them.
  14. No, here are the ingredients: Open Original Shared Link Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. Tsingtao ingredients include the highest quality hops, as well as the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada I don't care much for Budweizers gluten-free...
  15. Have you looked into Tom's of Maine toothpaste? The are organic and list all ingredients not just by name but what they are derived from.
  16. The blood tests when positive are pretty conclusive. False negatives are common but false positives are almost unheard of. Your 'vertigo' could be gluten ataxia, if that is the case you really need to be gluten free to keep the nerve damage from progressing. It is not normal to have gas and celiac antibodies can attack pretty much any organ they choose to...
  17. Welcome to the board. It does get better with time. Ask any questions you need to and feel free to vent if needed.
  18. Since you are done with both blood tests and biopsies go ahead and start the diet. Your body may give you an answer before you even get the results.
  19. It could take a week or two. Meanwhile, since your done testing go ahead and give the diet a good strict try. You need to do this no matter what the test results are as false negatives with blood and biopsy are all too common.
  20. I did that for quite a while when my hair was real short. Oddly it didn't seem to increase oil production for me. I simply would rinse my hair with plain water daily when I showered. If you don't use a lot of styling type products you may find that works okay for you too. Even now I only shampoo about once a week and just rinse my hair the other days. Oh...
  21. Your in a tough spot. The first thing I would do is to call her doctor and tell them that you tried a challenge and what the results were. There is a chance that with her improvement on the diet and her reaction to the challenge that the doctor might see fit to go ahead and diagnose her.
  22. I would ask your doctor to do a complete celiac panel to start. Mono was the trigger for quite a few of us here and it is quite possible it was for her also. If the blood tests are positive she will likely be referred to a GI doctor for a biopsy to confirm. Whether you do this or not is up to you. There are false negatives with testing much more often than...
  23. It sounds like all you have eliminated is making you worse not better. How have you been going about the elimination? Are you being guided by anyone? Many people do eliminations backwards, according to my allergist. If you can find a good allergist or other medical professional to help you in the process it can make it much less confusing. An allergist will...
  24. Are you going with a pretty much whole unprocessed diet? Have you checked all meds and supplements? Meds need to be checked at each refill if they are generic and supplements can be labeled gluten-free even if they have wheat or barley grass. Do you have a significant other that eats or drinks gluten items? If you do have them throughly brush their teeth...
  25. I would strongly advise you to try the diet after you have finished all the testing you want to have done. There are false negatives on testing, I was the sickest person in my family and always showed a false negative on testing but all my other family members, including ex-husband showed positive. A good strict trial of the diet may be of more value for...
