  1. I discovered those recently also and think they are great. I just picked up another package today for tonights 'junk food' burger, cole slaw and chips dinner. I hadn't tryed any of their products before but I do think I will try the bread next.
  2. It was normal for me for years before the upset tummy became a daily then daily and nightly occurance.
  3. Yea I do know what you mean. It is hard but it will hopefully get better in time. It is great to feel better but I do think we go through a 'mourning' period when we realize how much is having to change in everything we do. My DD is getting married soon and when I asked her if she had asked about gluten free options for me at the reception she said no. I...
  4. I hope your birthday is relaxing and fun. Have a great day!
  5. It is more likely you are getting some CC somewhere. This sounds like it could be DH. Do check your toiletries and lotions, soaps and go with a detergent like Arm and Hammer Free and Clear and see if that makes a difference.
  6. Jason I am so glad that you are doing better with coping. Please don't mourn your gluten pizza, there are gluten free pizza crusts available almost everyplace we can find gluten free bread. Try the Kinnickinnick ready made shells for example. A great quick meal with Hormel pepperoni and a bit of sauce and cheese.
  7. Sure it will. I eat and greatly enjoy pizza at least once a week. I keep a package of Kinnickinnick pizza shells in my freezer at all times and when I want a real deep dish with a nice chewy crust cradleing a slew of veggies and meats I use Gluten Free Pantries French Bread mix. It is not only as good as wheat crust pizza it is better IMHO.
  8. Fat free items can be made thicker with gluten starches. I wouldn't use it without calling the company to be sure. Make sure you have the UPC code from the can, write it down if you don't want to buy something you may have to return.
  9. I think a lot of us can identify with your post and your frustration and sadness. I wish there was something I could do to advise you but with my two adult children deciding they no longer need the diet and my not being able to convince them that they are being foolish, they were both diagnosed one with biopsy, well.... I have had to accept that they are...
  10. It won't be too long before you find great gluten free versions of your favorite 'junk' foods. Gluten Free Pantry makes great cake mixes and has a French Bread mix that makes great pizza dough. Gluten free pretzels surprisingly taste very much like wheat ones. Glutino makes some good ones and I love the Wylde pretzels because they don't have soy and taste...
  11. Have you checked out Country Life or Now brand? You may also want to post the question in the products section under a 'looking for gluten-free CF EF vitamin'.
  12. I think if you take regular large curd cottage cheese and put it in a strainer over a bowl overnight, refrigerated and covered of course, that would allow much of the liquid to drain and then it could be used.
  13. Looks like the answer is no. Here are a couple links and quotes from them. Open Original Shared Link "A number of beer manufacturers, including Budweiser and Sapporo, will tell you that the brewing process makes this barley content harmless as it no longer contains gluten. It is very tempting to believe them, as standard beer is normally a lot cheaper...
  14. IMHO doing a colon cleanse with an already compromised intestine is not only ill advised but could be dangerous. Many of us will have a 'leaky gut' which can allow stuff that is not supposed to cross into our systems from our intestine to do so. Colon cleanses can also be very harsh on the sytem. I would simply get on the diet and go with whole unprocessed...
  15. I wouldn't take it personally. It doesn't mean someone doesn't like you it just means that they didn't agree with a post you made.
  16. Tiffany gave a great reply and I don't have much to add except that I am in total agreement. If the desire for a firm diagnosis is important to you that would require a three month gluten challenge by going back to a full gluten diet. If the thought of that is horrifying to you then IMHO you have your answer. You could consider Enterolab testing, they don...
  17. I'm sorry but you are the one who is wrong on this one. If all of us who are diagnosed can't heal without the help of a nutritionist then how do you explain the large numbers of us who have had no choice but to figure it out on our own and are now fine? The number of us who have wasted dollars and time on consulting with nutritionists and dieticians who know...
  18. Yep it does sound like you are on the right track. If you don't have to continue with the challenge I would stop it and get back on the diet.
  19. Yes it is possible to have celiac with a negative biopsy and even with negative blood tests. Not only should she keep with the diet you should also.
  20. Yes you need to be gluten free and now. Celiac can effect your whole system in ways you most likely couldn't even imagine. It can increase you risk of some types of cancer, lymphoma for one, mental illness, you can develop brain lesions that will make it hard to walk, you can develop issues with your liver, gallbladder, arthritis well the list goes on. Dapsone...
  21. I am crossing my fingers for you that you won't have to do a challenge. And yes if you go gluten free and feel better a challenge will make you sick again. Sometimes even sicker than before the diet. The challenge would only be needed for a biopsy so if you get relief from the diet it is up to you whether you want to challenge or not.
  22. My brain damage got pretty advanced but I have healed a great deal. I took sublingual B12 daily for a long time and still take it once a week. I also took Royal Jelly, from bees so if someone is allergic to bees it is out, I took that more for my skin and hair issues but it seemed to help with energy also. I also still take a 'stress' vitamin with high levels...
  23. Your right if they are malt liquor, as in the States, they would not be safe. Where is the guide published? In Canada I think those are safe as they are a vodka drink rather than a malt liquor. I could be wrong though.
  24. I so sorry you have been so sick for so long. It's hard. I would ask your doctor to run a celiac panel as a first step. Mono can be a trigger illness with celiac, as can other illnesses and stressors. It can take a long time to resolve but a lot of what you are describing sounds IMHO like it may be celiac related.
  25. Under most circumstances I would say no don't start the diet, However in your case I agree with your doctor. He has drawn the panel and you are seeing the GI in the next week. With a diagnosed child you could very well be celiac yourself. With your symptoms I would go with your doctors advise. Do keep in mind that if the GI wants biopsies if he can't do them...
