  1. The endo can look normal to the doctor but still have a postive after the biopsies are read. The villi are very tiny, hence the need for a biopsy. Now that the biopsy is done you can start on the diet. Sometimes the body responds well before we even go back for the results. There are pretty high rates of false negatives so a trial on the diet would be...
  2. Hang in there. The withdrawl will end and you will feel so much better. Is there something gluten free that is a treat for you that might help? I used chocolate to help me feel less restricted. I like dark chocolate and just bought a baking bar. If you can try to take some time for you, take a long shower or bath, read a book, watch a funny TV show,...
  3. If your getting withdrawl symptoms then it is a sure sign that you are doing the right thing by eliminating casien. I would not add dairy back. Casien is not always going to make someone feel 'glutened'. The casien could be responsible for your continued elevation in hunger, feeding the withdrawl what it wants might alleviate that but that doesn't mean...
  4. I would not hesitate to try and contact this doctor. If nothing comes of the leads try contacting the editor of the Journal. They will have contact info. I hope he is able to help.
  5. I just cut it off and of course rinse off the produce.
  6. I am glad you have increased your protein, that should help a bit. I think your body is craving nutrients as much as it is calories. If it isn't getting those nutrients from food it is going to keep signaling you to eat more. Your diet is not very varied. You really should think about adding more fresh fruits and veggies to your diet. If you look at...
  7. I use Tom's in the adult forms and really like it. It was going to be my suggestion and I think you'll be happy with the choice.
  8. The choice to wait and get an endo to see how much damage is done is up to you. Postive blood tests are pretty conclusive but many doctors still demand a endo for an 'official' diagnosis. One problem with this is that you need to keep eating gluten until the tests are done, another is that there is a chance of a false negative even with a full gluten diet...
  9. Tell us what is terrible and we can help. If you are feeling down be aware that some of us are addicted to gluten and this will pass, as long as you don't cheat. If your having trouble because you spent 3 hours in a store reading labels, skip the processed food for a bit. Get whole unprocessed foods and if cooking is an issue let us know and we can guide...
  10. You could get the blood test keeping in mind what the last poster stated. The endo is being done to check for healing not for diagnosis right? If it is being done for diagnosis you need to get back on gluten pronto. The endo is useless for diagnosis if you are already gluten free but it will still pick up if you have other issues. Do keep in mind also...
  11. Cream of Buckwheat cereal sits well with me and is pretty nutritious. If you have been off dairy for 3 months you could try some yogurt, many of us can digest it after we heal a bit and it can be soothing. Just go for the plain and perhaps add a bit of your favorte jam or some fruit.
  12. I can across the info while doing a bit of testing research. In some countries they use a gluten suppository inserted into the rectum and then biopsy a few hours later to find the antibody reaction. Others use the oral mucosa for the same thing. Much less barbaric than poisoning us for months to destroy villi with a gluten food challenge. If you do a...
  13. Celiac disease is not a lack of enzymes it is an autoimmune reaction. It is not that we don't digest gluten it is that our immune system reacts to the gluten after it enters the bloodstream. Those antibodies begin being produced as soon as gluten crosses the mucosal barriers so the reaction begins in the mouth it doesn't wait until it reaches the gut. ...
  14. If this happens when you open your jaw I would see a dentist. They might be able to help figure out what is going on. It also wouldn't hurt to give some sublingual B12 a try. How is your blood pressure? Is it on the low side? Are you drinking enough water?
  15. You may want to look into Enterolab. They can tell you if you are making antibodies to gluten, soy, eggs, yeast and casien. They also do gene testing.
  16. I don't think finding a cure for celiac/GI (I believe them to be the same thing) is high on drug companies list of priorities. It is also a genetic difference IMHO not truely a disease. You mention taking digestive enzymes when you think you are going to encounter gluten. I personally don't take them and won't but a treatment for celiac or gluten intolerance...
  17. You mention you are eating a lot of popcorn, what kind are you eating? I hope you are popping it yourself for safety sake. The hunger is a normal part of the healing process, it seems that a lot of us have that issue for a while. I think it is the body telling us it is starving for nutrients and now that the body is absorbing more it is kind of going ...
  18. I have never heard of this approach. A couple questions. Are you on any meds now or supplements? Have they been checked to be absolutely sure that they are gluten-free? Are you consuming dairy? If so stop for a bit and see if that helps. Do you eat items with Codex wheat starch? Some consider it safe for us but it's best to avoid it. What is you diet...
  19. I am so sorry your freind is going through this. I do wish I lived in Washington, he would have an invitation to my house at any time. Unfortunately I live on the other side of the country so I can't help there other than prayers for him. As for the oils and herbals as long as he is still eating gluten they shouldn't effect the test. Celiac can also effect...
  20. There are other headache remedies that have the same combo of ingredients. I would look for one that is safe glutenwise. How long have you been gluten free? Are you stict with the diet? Headaches are part of a glutening for some of us.
  21. You need a new pharmacy. It is the pharmacist job to make sure a drug is safe for you to take. I would contact the head of the pharmacy and lodge a complaint and move my scripts to a different drug store. Mylan also makes a generic for Imitrex and they are in PA. If you don't hear back from the company in India you may want to check with Mylan. I have...
  22. I drink both. I have had no issues with them or any other coffee that is just plain coffee.
  23. Was your food allergy testing done around the same time or before you were diagnosed celiac? I had allergy testing done right before I was diagnosed. I was allergic to 98 of the 99 things that the doctor tested me for. The longer I have been gluten-free the less allergies I have. I am now down to 3. You may want to consider retesting some of the foods...
  24. Progresso must have changed their Cream of Mushroom soup as it used to be gluten-free but isn't on the list. What a shame.
  25. I agree strongly with this. How did you decide you don't have a casien issue? A casien issue will cause your body to produce antibodies but won't always give someone gas and D. Lactose intolerance will cause gas and D to those senstive but casien intolerance would cause an antibody reaction which could produce things like your headaches and fatigue.
