ARCHIVED All Of My Labs Are Normal So Far...
ravenwoodglass replied to Tabasco's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Also your b12 was on the low side. It can take awhile for the numbers to get under the 200 even after we have stopped being able to absorb and utilize B12. Have they done any B12 testing previously on you that you can compare with these results? If those numbers have been steadily dropping that is significant and you should be supplementing. I do think... -
ARCHIVED Can't Make Sense Of My Bloodwork
ravenwoodglass replied to Laurelf's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
First off your body can tell you more than the blood tests can. There are false negatives in both blood and biopsy so go by how you feel off of gluten and how you react when you add it back in. Also if you were gluten free or gluten light when the tests were done that will insure a false negative. It also does not appear they did a total IGA on you. If... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
ravenwoodglass replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
I am also supersensitive and facing the same issues you are due to a nasty divorce. Somehow my exhusband and his new girlfriend think that some miracle will happen and after struggling since my diagnosis and trying to work outside the home and repeatedly becoming very ill everything will magically go away once we are divorced and I will be able to work again... -
ARCHIVED Update: Reason For Hope?
ravenwoodglass replied to momxyz's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am so glad to hear she is doing better. Funny how much that 1/2 inch can mean to us when growth has been badly effected. Hopefully the growth will continue and she will continue to improve in the other areas as well. If her depression is easing there is a good chance that it will continue to get better and she will not need the meds. -
ARCHIVED Any gluten-free Syrups That Taste Like Aunt Jemima? Help!
ravenwoodglass replied to teitei's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It will definately be worth the time. If you can do a major shopping there it will make life a lot easier. One thing that is important to know is that on some items, nuts are the ones that come right to my mind, you will see the gluten-free label on one size but at times not on a package of a different size even though they are the same thing. I called... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab
ravenwoodglass replied to bevjen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It might help if you do a search using the words neurological and celiac. There is definately neuro impact for some celiacs, gluten ataxia is only one example. Do print out peer reviewed articles not stuff off of someplace like Wikipedia. Here is a link to one good one Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Got My Blood Test Results
ravenwoodglass replied to marijoy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Please don't go off just blood tests. There are lots of false negatives and doctors going off blood tests and not looking any farther caused me a great deal of lost years and pain. What you did by going gluten free and then going back to gluten was a gluten challenge. In your case it appears to have been positive. If you are going to persue an endoscopy... -
ARCHIVED Chemical Peels Safe?
ravenwoodglass replied to kristinnella's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You need to call the maker of the peel to ask. Also call about any lotions they may put on after the peel is done. -
ARCHIVED Panadol Paracetamol Starch In It?
ravenwoodglass replied to Northland Lady's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It could be safe but it also could not be. If you could give us the name of the company that makes it that may help but if it is a generic they can change the starch used at any time so each time you purchase it you need to check. If you seem to be having a gluten reaction I would stop taking it until you find out. This drug is known as acetaminophen... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Sensitive
ravenwoodglass replied to HydraWoman's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
In addition there are a lot of false negatives in both blood and biopsy for a nunber of reasons. You very well be a celiac but the real test of whether you need to be gluten free is your bodies response to the diet. Welcome to the board and I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. -
ARCHIVED Post Diagnosis With Celiac Spru
ravenwoodglass replied to lou1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have to say if I ate the way this book says I should for my blood type I would be dead. It is an interesting read but please don't take it all as fact. -
ARCHIVED Weird Ways We've Been Glutened
ravenwoodglass replied to OptimisticMom42's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, I am not Lisa but she was stating that she wasn't sure what got her. The Larabars are gluten free. No worries if you like them keep feeling safe eating them -
ARCHIVED Any gluten-free Syrups That Taste Like Aunt Jemima? Help!
ravenwoodglass replied to teitei's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you are in an area of PA that has a Wegmans check out their label. Even if they are a few miles away they will make it worth the trip as all their gluten-free items have a circle G on them. Makes shopping much easier. -
ARCHIVED Help! Jerseyangel/momma Goose/ravenwoodglass/sensitives-very Sick!
ravenwoodglass replied to oceangirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would drop the Enrico's and perhaps add it back in at some point and see if you react as well as calling the company. The recipe may have changed or they may have CC issues from other products in the same plant etc. Also check the tenders label. Is it just chicken or does it state broth added, were they frozen or fresh? Have you recently changed anything... -
I'm sorry. He doesn't sound like much of a boyfreind anyway if he can't be supportive of you while you are healing. On the bright side you have found a great place for support and information that will help speed your healing. Once you have healed you are now free to find someone who really does care about you. Soon you will be feeling better than you...

Is your elimination diet being guided by an allergist? The reason I ask it because you state you are still consuming dairy products. This is going to seem hard but you need to eliminate the butter and the milk. You may have an issue with casein and your reactions to other foods may not be reactions to those foods but to the dairy that you have not deleted...

ARCHIVED Didn't Stay gluten-free, New Symptoms
ravenwoodglass replied to Crash's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You need to switch to a safe alcohol if you can't give it up. Beer is apparently very addictive to you that is likely a combo of the gluten issue and the alcohol combined. If you stay away from gluten entirely the withdrawl will be over in one or two weeks. If you don't you risk much more pain and disability as time goes on. In addition you may eventually... -
ARCHIVED Severe Anxiety - Upcoming Trip
ravenwoodglass replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I found a site where you can download free gluten free dining cards with basic phrases here it is: Open Original Shared Link I wouldn't ship food I would pack some basics that you can eat in your luggage. There will be stores there where you can pick up fresh produce and perhaps other stuff. If your anxiety gets too severe you may want to ask your... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab
ravenwoodglass replied to bevjen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Go ahead and give the results to your doctor. Some are becoming more accepting of stool testing. If your tests were postive for antibodies and the diet helps you the doctor may go ahead and give you a 'diagnosis' of celiac or gluten intolerance. -
ARCHIVED I Cannot Believe What My Doc Just Said To Me
ravenwoodglass replied to jasonD2's topic in Doctors
Personally I would find a new GI doctor and make sure you do not refer anyone to this guy. He is an idiot as far as celiac is concerned. Not worry about it!!! Guess he likes making money more than careing for his patients. After all once folks are diagnosed and they don't have GI troubles any longer then he really isn't needed any more is he except for... -
ARCHIVED Tired And Depressed...is This Normal?
ravenwoodglass replied to emili1242's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No your not crazy but in a way it may be 'in your head'. Many of us experience withdrawl symptoms when we go gluten free and that is what it sounds like may be happening. Hang in there and the withdrawl should lift soon. -
ARCHIVED Finally Got Diagnosis For My Bladder Issues
ravenwoodglass replied to daphniela's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Are you being really careful about cross contamination both in processed foods and in the home? I know when I feel really stressed or tired I have a tendency to eat more processed and thus more risky foods. I used to grab Amy's stuff a lot but my store now carries the Glutino frozen entrees and they don't seem to have the CC issues Amy's does. I don't... -
ARCHIVED What Do You Think Of This?
ravenwoodglass replied to mwib's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
With a family history and the symptoms you have had it certainly could be that you are one of us. Did they do a celiac panel on you? Regardless of what the outcome is on the biopsy or blood tests you should give the diet a good strict try for a couple of months. False negatives unfortunately are all to common.
