  1. Gosh yes it certainly would! I wonder if what the gluten was in was actually a feeding tube though.
  2. If you have celiac you have to be 100% gluten free to stop the antibody reaction. It is the antibodies that cause the issues and even a small amount of gluten will keep them going. It can be hard especially at first. I would go ahead and get the blood work done again and then go ahead and give the diet a good shot. It can seem overwhelming when you first...
  3. If you have been eating this with no issues I would keep eating it. Just because a company says they can not quarantee that there is no CC doesn't mean there is. If however it makes you uncomfortable because of the risk, hummus is really easy to make yourself and it keeps well in the fridge for a couple of days.
  4. You could get retested or you could simply give the diet a try. As mentioned you could also go with Enterolab testing, if you choose to do that you can go ahead and start the diet while your waiting for the kit to come as you can be gluten free for a while and still have an accurate test. If you do choose to retest with blood and enso do keep eating gluten...
  5. I can't say that I was scared it wasn't celiac because no one ever told me what it was. My doctors called it Sprue and said just to be happy I didn't have it. I do know how it feels to be so very sick and not have the doctors have a clue. I would go gluten free the day you have the endoscopy done no matter what the results of the blood tests. There are...
  6. This one is my favorite from her book. I mixed up a bunch of different scented ones and sent them to my DD as part of her birthday gift. From the Spa Magic book by Mary Muryn "Salt Radiance- 1 cup sea salt 6 tablespoons vegetable oil (I use sweet almond or olive) 8 drops lavender essential oil 8 drops vetiver essential oil 8 drops ylang-ylang essential...
  7. For some of us having repeat endos is a really good idea. There can be precancerous changes that can occur when celiac has gone undiagnosed for many years. If those are found on the first endo then it is a good idea to have screening done just as we screen for colon cancer, IMHO. I wish my doctor had done an endo when he did my last colonscopy. They did...
  8. Your doctor sounds like a really good one. I wish I could find one as knowledgable as she is.
  9. I found this info for you- however after looking closer I realized it is likely from New Zealand. There should be either a phone number or the name of the maker in the drugs info sheet. You can get that sheet from your pharmacist, who should be checking for you anyway. Open Original Shared Link Ingredients Active ingredient diphenhydramine hydrochloride...
  10. I found a book in the 25 cent bin at one of my local thrift stores called 'Spa Magic' by Mary Muryn that has a lot of great recipes in it for facial lotions, lip balms, salt scrubs, mud masks and more. I've made the sea salt scrubs and lip balms and have the stuff to make mud masks but haven't gotten around to it yet. You may want to check it out. It's...
  11. IF you have been gluten-free for 3 months chances are the test will be negative. You need to be consuming gluten for the tests to be positive. If you need a doctors diagnosis you need to go back on gluten. If the challenge makes you very ill IMHO you have your answer no matter what the test results.
  12. I personally would just go ahead and start the diet as your doctor advised. If you do choose to go for a biopsy keep eating gluten until that is done and since there is a chance of a false negative with the endo do start the diet as soon as the endo is done.
  13. Since your endo is done go ahead and start the diet. You don't have to wait for the results. Your body may give you the answer berfore you get the test results. False negatives are not uncommon so even if the results are negative give the diet a month or two at least.
  14. The doctors putting you on the diet before they do any testing will cause the tests to be a false negative. However sometimes dietary response is the best test there is. If your doctors are going to test you need to go back on gluten until the tests are finished. Otherwise they will want you to do a lengthy gluten challege which can be a really nasty experience...
  15. I use one by Aura Cacia but I would imagine any would be fine. I also use the Now's Cocoa butter and JJ oil. A little while back I got adventurous and tryed a lotion by Pangea Organics. French Camomile with sweet orange and lavender hand and body lotion. I have been using it now for 3 months with no problems but I didn't verify it but went by the ingredients...
  16. No you were not 'cured' what happened is you healed. Sometimes after children are gluten free for a few years they 'seem' to be able to eat gluten again and doctors thought they were cured. Now we know that is not the case although in some it can take some time for celiac damage to be obvious again. In some instances also the antibodies will choose to...
  17. The range that is on the results is the one you need to go with. If you post your results and the ranges someone might be able to shed some light on them.
  18. Yes there is. If you check out the Related Disorders section of the board you will find numerous posts on this. Also if you do a search lots will come up. I don't know where you are but if you look into Enterolab they can do stool and gene testing and although they can't diagnose celiac they can tell you if you are making antibodies and if you have malabsorption...
  19. If you are on the gluten-free diet beer is off limits. It is not gluten free as it is made with barley and some beers also use wheat. There are gluten-free beers available, Redbridge is one of them. Please read as much here as you can. There is a lot to the diet but it is doable. Also post any questions you may have.
  20. It took some time for my joint pain to improve. That said have you checked all your meds? If any of your scripts or supplements contain gluten that will keep the antibodies active. Have you been CC'd frequently as often happens in the early days of the diet? That can set us back a bit. Are you eating mostly whole unprocessed foods? That is one of the...
  21. There is a link between gluten and mental illness. Here is a link to one article but there are many more- Open Original Shared Link There are many neurological problems that in undiagnosed and untreated Celiac disease but include neuropathy, balance problems (ataxia), seizures, MS-like symptoms, headaches, memory impairment, depression and anxiety...
  22. That's what I do. I use coconut oil with just a very small amount of almond oil. I have a little bitty wisk and bowl that I combine them in.
  23. I do have a suggestion, try some sweet potatoes. I get horrible C from soy and I came across sweet potatoes as a 'treatment' for both C and D when I was reading a book on Chinese 'food' medicine. It has helped me a lot perhaps it would work for you.
  24. No matter what the test results it sounds like your body has give you the answer. I would go back to the diet the day the tests are done and not even wait on the results. False negatives are not uncommon and some times the body tells us what the tests cannot.
  25. Some Pepto Bismal liquid might help if you are having stomach pain. It sounds like you are having a fairly strong reaction. Keep your doctor in the loop. Some will stop the challenge if we react really badly and diagnosis us based on the challenge and the improvement we had already seen on the diet.
