  1. Unfortunately those panels are not as conclusive as doctors might want you to think. There are some of us that do not show up in blood work. If the diet was helping that is the best test there is.
  2. Sure do know. I hope the diet helps you. The diagnosis process can be a long and hard one for some of us. It sure was for me. LOL If the diet helps it can seem almost miraculous the difference in the way we feel. It is hard at first and there is a lot to learn but it is so worth it if gluten is causing the issues.
  3. I am glad things look like they will be getting better. You have gotten some good ideas as far as protein goes but one that wasn't mentioned yet is hemp milk or hemp protein powder. Buckwheat is also a good source of protein. When going the beans route you should eat them with rice. The two combined will create a complete protein. A rice cooker can be...
  4. It is hard at first and I think many of us fully understand your frustrations. There is so much to learn when starting out. Your in the right place to vent. I hope you feel better and that your DH flare calms down soon. I had the same experience with my shampoos and such and it is tragic to have to toss so much. I donated stuff that was unopened but...
  5. Milk is gluten free but until you heal a bit it may be difficult for you to digest. You do have to be careful about what it is mixed with in a drink though. Not all hard liquor is gluten free as some may have gluten in the flavorings. Also a few of us are sensitive to distilled grain alcohols, not everyone but enough so you should use caution at first...
  6. Your yard must be really beautiful. I have kitties but they stay inside and neighborhood kitties are my pet peeve also. I really hate going out to weed the flower beds and coming upon spots that they consider ideal for a litterbox. I have had hawks in mine also. I love watching their frustration when they try to catch the smaller birds that immediately...
  7. Perhaps the high fructose corn syrup could be a factor? Just a guess. It wouldn't have gluten but it is a pretty heavy 'sugar'
  8. Thanks for posting the link. It was appretiated.
  9. It could also be part of your gluten reaction. Gluten seems to flare my arthritis and fibro. My muscles and joints get very painful when I get glutened and it does take a few days to resolve.
  10. PN is usually similar to the way it feels when a hand or foot falls asleep. It usually hits the hands or feet first but can then progress up or down the limb in some people. It can also cause a burning pain in the affected hand or foot. I believe it is caused by a misfiring in the nerve signals.
  11. Iodine can activate the antibodies under the skin. We need to avoid it until the antibodies are gone. Unless your Sea Salt says it is iodized it should be fine. That's what I use. If you do a search with Dermatitis Herpeformis and Iodine you will find some more detailed info on it. I find it significant that the endocrine symptoms started after you...
  12. I took this for a couple of years before I was diagnosed. It was sort of helpful but not very. Do read the info on the link that was provided. Librax does have a 'valium' component and can be addictive so use it with care and do not stop it suddenly. Also do not drive or operate machinery until you know how you react to the drug. If you do take it daily...
  13. What meds are you doing without? Some meds are dangerous to stop suddenly. Some companies have programs for folks that can not afford their meds. Do contact the company that makes them and see if they can help. If this is DH it will resolve if you cut gluten out of your diet. You also will need to use uniodized salt at first. If seeing a derm is not possible...
  14. I am glad your DD is open to trying the diet. I am also hoping it will help her. It is good she feels comfortable with the psychologist they can be helpful in dealing with issues and learning effective ways to cope. Doctors in this country have a long way to to as far as seeing the impact gluten causes in the brain. I saw a psychologist 2 times a week...
  15. Ranger I really, really hope you meant colonoscopy not colonostomy. A colonostomy is where they have to reroute the bowel to empty through a hole in the abdomen. I hope that wasn't something you had to have done.
  16. I usually take it in the morning. I think you could either double up or do a spray in the am and one in the afternoon. I would spray under the tongue to insure that it is absorbed well as it needs to be absorbed my the mucous membranes.
  17. What a wonderful Mother in law you have! It is no wonder your husband is such a keeper with a mom like her. I am glad we were all able to help. Now on to healing. I hope you are feeling better soon.
  18. If I had to wait for a blood test to 'prove' I was celiac I would be dead, no kidding on that! As stated you did not have enough of a challenge for the bloodwork to have had a chance for a positive result after eliminating gluten for a couple months. Gluten may very well be behind the mood issues you are experiencing also. Go easy on yourself and consider...
  19. I also wouldn't touch anything from a bulk bin. Just not worth the risk...
  20. This could be any number of things. If the pain is so severe you can barely stand it and you have a fever and feel very unwell that would be an indication of diverticulitis which would be a medical emergency. Diverticulosis can cause discomfort also but is not an emergency situtation and would not have a fever that accompanies it. If you have been recently...
  21. I eat a lot of Chi-chi's and have never been gotten by them. I use the canned variety as I can't even find the dryed ones. I do use dried split peas and lentils and I rinse them well and pick them over for stones and such. While the packages may say that they are 'produced in......' I haven't actually found any suspicious unidentified grains mixed in or...
  22. I am not going to even try to guess whether this is DH or not. You need to have this looked at by your GP or by a podiatrist or dermatologist. Please do so.
  23. Your doctor is horribly ill informed. His misconceptions about celiac disease are the worst I have ever heard. I have DH and yes it can be extremely painful as well as itchy. If you can find a new doctor please do so but if your healing well on the diet keep it up. That is the best test there is. Your body is clearly showing you the answer that doctor...
  24. Even with all those negative tests you could still be celiac. I am firmly diagnosed and I don't carry either one of those 2 genes either, I carry a celiac related gene but it is not recognized here as one. Unless of course it is one of the other 7 that the US has newly acknowledged. It doesn't really matter whether you call yourself celiac or gluten intolerant...
  25. In my case I never really even had carpel tunnel, the nerve problems were a direct result of the antibodies attack on my nervous system. With this only happening when you get glutened I am wondering if perhaps that might be the case for you. I remove the metal in most of my splints and found they work just as well without them. Also the last time I had...
