  1. My depression lifted pretty quickly but my anxiety got progressively worse. Mostly due to the fact that I now have such severe reactions to small amounts and the increase in their severity.
  2. I have some real issues with this article, it was obviously written by someone who doesn't have gluten intolerance or celiac and has never done any real research. Just a couple issues I have are the these- " Now imagine that you've cut out gluten from your diet completely
  3. Until I had to cut back to the extreme on my expenses I used to get this in hard copy so I could share it with others. It was called something different then. The articles were always well written and very informative. If I could still afford it I would order it without hesitation.
  4. Your not alone. The only thing you can really do is be as strict as you possibly can. For some of us gluten is a neurotoxin. Whether you will recover fully depends on a lot of different factors. Some of us recover fully and are 'normal' off of gluten and for a few the damage to the brain is too great for a complete recovery. If you go back to being stable...
  5. Something that may help your nervous system heal a bit quicker is sublingual B12. It helps the nerves to fire correctly. Make sure it is gluten free of course.
  6. I have never heard of it, but one thing you can do is ask to see the container it comes in. That should give you the info so you can contact the maker and ask.
  7. Yes that would be a positive biopsy.
  8. Short and sweet, yes. Make sure you wash your hands immediately if you have to handle gluten .
  9. Yes there are some companies that are, and I also am glad to see it. I got some Heinz ketchup today and they have added it to their label too. Hormel also labels their gluten-free items and I am sure there are others. Sure does make it easier. Now if they would just stop putting soy in everything....
  10. Welcome to the family. I am glad things are conclusive for you and many here, including myself, fully understand your anger. I hope you heal quickly.
  11. Yes. This is quite common. However if you have been gluten-free for 19 months then 2 weeks on gluten is most likely to just make you very sick but not be long enough to redamage you enough to be 'gold standard' diagnosed. Most experts say it takes at least 6 weeks if not up to 3 months for enough damage to be done. It is likely after only a 2 week challenge...
  12. Thats why I always tell folks to try the diet no matter what the test results. I don't know why false negatives occur but they do and they delayed my diagnosis for a very, very long time as the doctors relied on those false negative tests. On the good side, now you know and can start healing.
  13. I agree with your doctor. You eliminated gluten and felt better, you get sick when you eat it and you have positive blood work. You would need to go back on gluten for a couple months to get the biopsy done and even then it could be a false negative. Personally I would consider myself diagnosed and get on with healing.
  14. She could just be being, well, four. One thing you could do if you suspect other sensitivities is have her tested by Enterolab to see if she is forming antibodies to other proteins. They test for yeast, egg, gluten, soy and can do a test for malabsorption. Insurance doesn't usually cover the testing and you would order right from the Enterolab web site...
  15. I am so glad to hear that he is coming home soon. Enjoy him for they grow up way to soon.
  16. There can be flavoring or gluten containing ingredients used in the processing in dry roasted nuts. You best bet if they don't carry a gluten-free label is to call the company or check their website to make sure they are safe before eating.
  17. If you post your levels from the total IGA that might help. If you are on the low side that may be significant. If you are feeling better on the diet then I would keep it up, you are showing antibodies even though the levels are not extremely high.
  18. Thanks for the reminder, I always tell others to do that too.....but didn't do it yet for myself. I am going to make sure I get copies of that and also of the blood work he had done before the test. I really do want to see the report on that polyp he removed also. I have been seriously braindrained the last month between hurting teeth, and the glutening...
  19. If you have DH don't do it. Also be VERY careful with homeopathic remedies, I was severely glutened by a naturopathic doctor that figured a little bit would be okay. It wasn't for me. I have reactions from gluten distilled grains, not everyone does, but do check and make sure the alcohol that is in the remedies is not wheat derived just to be safe since...
  20. Thanks for the replies. I just had a colonoscopy a month or so ago and they don't schedule follow-up appointments just say if I don't hear from them that everythings fine. I think perhaps I should not have mentioned the glutening or that I am celiac to the receptionist and I will try to get another appointment just saying I am having GI bleeding. I am...
  21. I have been gluten free now for 7 years but still the occasional slip up. Now it only happens once or twice a year, thank goodness. However now when I get glutened I bleed. I got glutened a week or so ago and I was passing clots and mucous (sorry for the TMI) for 3 days. I called my GI doctors office for help and the woman who answered the phone told...
  22. Are you gluten free? It is much more likely that she got CC'd either from coming into contact with something in your home or by food. The water should be safe.
  23. Well it took 45 years to get me diagnosed and I never got cancer from it. Research says that after 5 years gluten free your chances of having a celiac related cancer are the same as the rest of the population. I wouldn't worry about the cancer aspect if I were you. It is amazing how much of a difference the diet makes in folks who need to be on it. It...
  24. Do you use iodized salt? That can cause a DH breakout. It can take up to 2 years for all the antibodies to leave the skin and even small amounts of gluten can activate them and cause a breakout. You also should check all your personal care products like shampoo, conditioner, lotions, makeup etc for gluten statis. Be assured though that eventually the...
