  2. I am looking for a substitute for rice and corn flour in the gluten free mixes you make yourself. I want to make some bread, muffins, donuts, anything but don't know what will work as a substitute for the rice flours that most of the receipes call for. Thanks for your help. Yellow Rose
  3. That was wonderful info. Thanks so much. So our brains don't hurt let me tell you how my daughter who is a biochemist explained how antibodies work. The antibodies will roam around our bodies looking for something that doesn't belong. When it finds something it will grab ahold of it and take it around to the other antibodies asking "Do you know this?...
  4. I have noticed more joint pain and swelling when eatin corn. It took me a couple of months to figure this out since I kept glutening myself. I have been corn free for only a couple of weeks and the swelling in my hands and the redness is going away. Have a similar problem with rice and MSG both make me hurt all over but the corn seems to only affect my...
  5. I went from 183 to 162 the first month. Have lost 10 more lbs in the last 3 months and went from a 16 to 14 in clothing. I can actually see my toes again. Yellow Rose
  6. When I first started this in April I thought only gluten was the culprit. I have since found corn, and rice, and MSG make me very ill. I have had to go to only meat, veggies, and fruit. I was very discouraged but after a couple of weeks at the newer diet I am getting used to it. My cravings for sweets has diminished and I am now craving fruit instead...

  8. My youngest daughter had JRA and developed temporal arteritis and was very close to stroking out when an allergist figured out that this is what she had. It was caused by a toxic reaction to her athritus meds. She was in the 8th grade and taking adult doses of 11 different meds. He took her off all meds and wheat, beef, rice, and milk products for 30 days...

  10. Get yourself a couple of pots and pans that only you use and keep them in your room. Also, cover your food that you put in the microwave so it doesn't get contaminated. I am the cook in this house and I had to get my own pans to cook in. We have one set for gluten foods and one set for gluten free foods. Good luck. Yellow Rose

  13. Check again on Colgate. I called them on Monday about my toothpaste and was told they no longer can assure that the products don't come in contact with gluten. I switched to Crest. Yellow Rose
  14. I am finding that I am very sensitive to CC and so far have had no problems with Kraft dressings. Since they do list all gluten not just wheat you still need to check the ingrediants for gluten but so far they can be trusted. Kraft has a lot of products that you can find on their web site. Unilever is also one that lists all gluten as well and their web...
  15. Thanks Mamaw, I was wondering about this myself as my son wants to do Thanksgiving at his house this year. Usually we have it at my house and I was prepared to do it again. I love the part about asking them if they would like to taste your stuff. What a great opening for communication about the disease. Yellow Rose
  16. My dizzyness from cross contamination (CC) or glutening myself usually lasts about a week. I will have it every time I stand up in the beginning and as the week progresses it gets less and less. It drove me nuts in the beginning. I thought I was having inner ear problems or like you was just getting old. But after I read about it on this web site I started...
  17. I worked for the Special Ed Dept when my daughter was 504 and if I remember correctly you can request a 504 in writing and it must not be ignored. They have a specific amount of days to get it done. Stand your ground and get copies of everything in writing. If they continue to give you a hard time contact your local ADA Avocacy Group and get help. Also...
  18. Try putting a piece of wax paper on the bottom of the pan. It will peel right off after you pull out your bread. I also agree with flouring your chips or nuts before you put them in the batter. Yellow Rose
  19. Keep a bottle of hairspray next to your monitor. Next time you see something zap it with that. It will freeze their wings so they can't fly off and won't hurt your cats. Works on any bug not just the flying one's. yellow rose
  20. I use Wal-Mart's Equate brands. I tried calling my local Wal-Mart and even the pharmasist was ignorant on gluten. He was looking for the word gluten on the ingrediant list. I called 1800WalMart and got the manufactures # from them. The manfactures told me that you have to call each time you buy and new bottle and give them the UPC code so they can look...
  21. I'm sorry you took my reply as defining all fussy babies as colic babies. I didn't mean to imply that at all. Several people were suggesting colic and since I have had my own experience with colic babies and this worked for them I thought I would provide a receipe. I know when babies are crying parents will try anything to make them feel better. Since...
  22. I called Revlon today checking my lipstick and Toast of New York is gluten free. Yellow Rose

  24. I read another post several weeks ago about Sodium Lauryl Sulfate being an ingredient in toothpaste that celiac people are sensitive to and has caused mouth sores. Have you changed your toothpaste recently? Yellow Rose
