  1. We-ell, I suppose it could have been any one of a handful of self-destructive bad habits I can't seem to shake, such as extreme quantities of Diet Coke and cigarettes... Gluten was EASY to give up, by comparison!
  2. Both of my sons are definitely more open to trying and eating new foods now that they are gluten-free. The change in that area has been very significant for us!
  3. I wish! Noo, I've had a HEINOUS 2-day migraine... Crawled out of it at about 4:30 this evening, looking like Amy Winehouse dragged through a hedge backwards. Feeling muuuuuch better now. I can't believe I missed Sophie's sports injury AND Monty Python quotes. Hmm.... what does it say that nearly all of us are Holy Grail fans???
  4. GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's totally me, too! I wear it a couple times a year. The minerals stuff is really light tho.
  5. Yeah, I pooped in over at the Minerals thread way back in the day-- when it was like 5 pages long or something. And I actually ordered a sample pack! It's good stuff, but I couldn't keep up with the girly girls over there. They are way outta my league. A funny from last night: Lucas brushed his teeth and I asked him if he did a Good Job. So he...
  6. Has he tried an anti-inflammatory, such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve)? That may help reduce swelling and inflammation. Analgesics like Tylenol won't help for anything that is inflamed. If that doesn't help, or doesn't help enough, I'd consider seeing a doctor and asking for a non-drowsy muscle relaxer. There are a couple on the market...
  7. One way to do this might be to make corn muffins, and stick a piece of hot dog down into the batter before baking.
  8. Does anyone here read Harry Potter??? Instead of The Boy Who Lived, he is The Fish Who Lived!!! Only funny if you read Harry Potter. I am a big Harry Potter dork. I even went to a midnight release party at Barnes & Noble for the last book, and I dressed up. Other pop culture "mainstream" faves... Sex and the City (I have most seasons on...
  9. Donna.... from what I know of you, I think it's better that you called when you did. I think if you'd waited till you'd calmed down, you would have been too NICE! That totally stinks. They need to agree NOT to turn you over to collections and work out a payment plan with you, even if they don't normally do that- because you specifically asked them if you...
  10. Well, there are NO cute guys around here- except Brian of course, I got the last one. Hmm, at first I thought that Tom referencing a Men's Health article was a little payback for all the tampon and purse conversations, but then I realized......... that's a VERY Cosmo kind of article. Tom... are you SURE that's was from Men's Health???????
  11.   OMG!!!!!!!! You guys are killing me!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I know! I wish I'd had a camera with me, but I didn't. And my phone isn't one of those fancy schmancy camera phones. I really did meet her, I promise, just ask her!
  13. That's usually about what i can come up with on the spot!
  14. I dunno Susie, could he have been a wine SNOB? I mean, I'm all for wine appreciation... But like you, I appreciate those great cheap wines too!!! Wine snobbery is kind of insufferable.
  15. Susie... Annie going to Tika's house- that's brutal And maybe you'll run into the cutie at TJ's again... you never know. I ran into someone from this board at Whole Foods a few months ago. Kara's Mom, fairly new. We had a good chat and I showed her some stuff. She was really nice. It was a total surprise meeting, because I live about an hour north...
  16. (((Hugs!!!))) Amanda, I'll be thinking about you guys!
  17. Yes, candida overgrowth is common in Celiacs-- I think it becomes very noticeable after you've been on the diet while and gluten symptoms go away. I think there's a couple reasons for this. One is that Celiac itself may cause an unbalance in gut bacteria. Another is that undiagnosed Celiacs are often prone to recurrent infections- and repeated use of antibiotics...
  18. I just pulled this off a different thread- Susie, are you serious?!?!?! They have gluten-free Big Macs in Finland??????? Well that is just NOT fair!
  19. That pic made me drool. I want some right now!!! I've never heard of that brand.
  20. Oh my gawwwwd, I had that stuck in my head for an HOUR!!!
  21. My older son doesn't care for them, but my younger one loves them. I think they're pretty good, as long as you don't expect them to be like animal crackers. I have been meaning to order some K-Kritters- we haven't tried them yet. Thanks for mentioning them! Also-- a note about the Envirokids Animal Cookies: Only the vanilla are gluten-free, NOT...
  22. Susie, you have named a new disease!!! Urinal AND no hovering? Emily... you didn't... I, too, have taught my dog, "Lilo go potty." She's such a hyper puppy though, she gets so excited, sniffing the ground and looking around at all the interesting things... That sometimes, she'll squat and continue inching forward, checking everything...
  23. Janet, Wow, what a complete BUMMER. I mean, since she's been gluten-free since last spring, I'm sure she's well used to carrying her lunch to school. But that's not really the point-- While she probably doesn't mind carrying her lunch, it would have been nice for her to have a day once in awhile that she could eat what everyone else is eating. It...
  24. Vomiting isn't my main reaction, but I've found out that it's definitely there. After my last gluten challenge (and I do mean my LAST) I got my usual symptoms- diarrhea and crushing heartburn- and then the next day came the pukies. It was horrible. Maybe the timing of her reaction has something to do with what her metabolism does after she's fallen asleep...
  25. Well I didn't notice, and never would have known. And the accurate numbers only strengthen your point, not weaken it.
