ARCHIVED Substituting With Gluten Free Bisquick
modiddly16 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I get the emails from Betty Crocker/ Bisquick and recently got one that has some awesome looking Christmas brunch (or Holiday brunch to be PC ) recipies. Does anyone know if you can substitute the gluten free mix for the regular, I don't think you can just straight up but wasn't sure if anyone figured out how to alter the recipes with the gluten-free mix... -
ARCHIVED Is The Ikea Gravy Gluten Free ?

I think I'd be a bit concerned with what the "flavour" is! -
ARCHIVED Is The Ikea Gravy Gluten Free ?
modiddly16 replied to Dellers's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I didn't even realize Ikea had foods like gluten, I knew they had baked goods. Pretty soon, IKEA is just going to be taking over! -
ARCHIVED The Tale Of The Moldy Cookies
modiddly16 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There is a product out there on the market that I very much enjoy, so I'm not going to post the company name on here because I don't want to completely blame them for my bad experience. I stopped by my local grocery store and picked up a bag of these delicious cookies (mind you at $8.99 a bag, they better be delicious), the expiration date said good through... -
ARCHIVED Grrrrrrrr . . .

and p.s....this is a pretty solid example of ripping someone apart. Whether that was your intention or not. -
ARCHIVED Grrrrrrrr . . .
modiddly16 replied to VioletBlue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know VioletBlue, maybe you're still really angry about Betty Crocker that you're not seeing how some of your posts are coming across. Everyone is allowed and welcomed to have their own opinions for sure, but some of your comments on this thread having come across as very accepting of other opinions. Maybe once the dust settles and you re-read it... -
ARCHIVED Grrrrrrrr . . .
modiddly16 replied to VioletBlue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My goodness. The tone in some of the responses on this thread are unpleasant. There's no need for rudeness or snide comments here! Everyone is trying to help everyone else out, so to assume people are purposely trying to offend you is silly. This is unfortunate for those celiacs who also can't have soy without a doubt but sadly there are a lot of things... -

ARCHIVED Old El Paso Taco Seasoning Mix
modiddly16 replied to misskris's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This just isn't true. It's just corn starch chemically modified to improve properties for commercial uses. If it was modified food starch that had wheat or something in it, the company would have to put that on their label. I use the mild old el paso taco seasoning (that's the yellow one, right?) without issues but never tried the low sodium one. I do... -
ARCHIVED Teff Flour?
modiddly16 replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was waiting for you to chime in Skylark! I emailed the company yesterday, so I'll report back to everyone about how they make their tortillas. I also didn't bring them to eat today but am going to eat everything else the same just for the process of elimination, maybe something else is sneaking in there thats getting me. It probably doesn't help that... -
ARCHIVED Teff Flour?
modiddly16 replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can have corn but typically haven't liked them. I don't have access to anything to heat them up during the day and think they're kinda gross non-heated. Maybe Teff just bothers my stomach because its more fiber than I'm used to? I was using a lot of flaxseed for awhile and it used to do the same thing to me. Could just be that my body isn't used to... -
ARCHIVED Tortilla Chips?

ARCHIVED Don't Revive Ancient Threads!
modiddly16 replied to lovegrov's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
THANK YOU! For posting this!!! It's such a pain when threads come up and the date is 2006 or 2008 and people are still commenting. Things change so quickly and I'd hate for anyone to get wrong information because the assumption is made that its up to date information. I don't know that I'd want anything to be deleted because its nice to search back and see... -
ARCHIVED Teff Flour?
modiddly16 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hello my fellow celiacs. I wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with Teff Flour. Recently at my local food store I found La Tortilla Factory gluten free wraps and I was pumped, they have good flexibility and while don't taste particularly awesome, they're still pretty darn OK. However, the last two days I've been in the bathroom WAY more than I'd... -
ARCHIVED Pillsbury Frostings
modiddly16 replied to patticake's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Please be careful when you post things like this on here. Just because you reacted from it, doesn't mean that it was because of gluten. I'm not saying that this particular frosting is or isn't gluten free, because while nothing in the ingrediants screams gluten, I haven't checked with the company but I don't know for a fact the status. Just be careful... -
They've confirmed to me that Peppermint Mocha and Peppermint Hot Chocolate is in fact gluten free. Sated Hot Chocolate, however, is not.

Loey- Just be careful...some of the information "learned" on this forum isn't always accurate. As with any open forum, some people post statements and make comments with very little facts other than hearsay. This particular thread for example has raised some questions. I have no information to say if cigars have gluten or if they do not because I'm not...

ARCHIVED Immodium

Agreed. I'm an immodium advocate for situations like that. I too, used to overuse immodium and try to avoid it now but sometimes you just have to use it! -
ARCHIVED Wedding Cakes
modiddly16 replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you!! I just e-mailed them. Pittsburgh is a bit far away, I'm closer to Philadelphia...so I don't know if they'll deliver and I'm not sure I trust myself with picking up a cake and driving with it!! But I'll definitely check. -
ARCHIVED Wedding Cakes
modiddly16 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just got engaged last week and am starting to plan for my October 2011 wedding...however, I'm having a wedding cake dilemma. I'll be getting married in PA and haven't found many bakeries that make gluten free wedding cakes. The ones who claim that they do, have responded to my e-mails mentioning that they haven't made one yet and don't understand my question... -
