  1. Last year we had that ham. The ham itself was gluten-free, but the glaze that you add later was NOT. But that was last year...
  2. I just made some PB cookies with natural PB (Kirkland organic--does have salt) and they turned out great! I would say if your PB doesn't have salt, you might want to add a bit. I used a recipe I got here: 1c PB 1c sugar 1 egg 1tsp vanilla 1/2 c choco chips (optional) mix well and bake 350 for 10 minutes--I left mine in balls because DD added too...
  3. No problem! LOL, Thanks for the recipe, can't wait to try the recipe!!
  4. I hope you feel better soon! It's never a good time to be sick, but especially now! Good thoughts being sent your way.......
  5. Yeah, I know, I made a couple pies, mine were all eaten before hers She just couldn't imagine it tasting good.
  6. I want to make my grandmother a lemon meringue pie at Christmas, it's her favorite. For some reason custard and meringue scare me to make, BUT, my grandfather died recently and this will be a very difficult Christmas for her (all of us), so I want to make her something special--I know it won't really help that much, but oh well, I'll try anything. I have...
  7. I guess my DD will have to make that decision for herself when she is older, but for now, the only person's food I will let her eat is my mother's because she TOTALLY gets it, she's researched it about as much as I have and actually tries to live gluten-free because she knows how much better she feels. I digress, during Thanksgiving, my very well intentioned...
  8. I tried that roll thing, it didn't work for me. The dough was to 'doughy' But I put it in the bundt pan anyway and it was at least shaped like a wreath-just didn't pull apart!
  9. I would think so too. I had a bunch of stuff in my deep freeze and my dear MIL left the door open and everything thawed, we ate the bread anyway, pizza crusts too--but of course threw the other perishables away (including a month's worth of homemade baby food I had made the week before!!! arg!!)
  10. I just spoke with our local branch--Salmon Creek for those of you out here. They get their crusts from a local gluten-free bakery (Bavarian Mills (?)) I've heard they're pretty good--anyway, the crusts are kept separate from the gluten crusts, prepared separate, only gluten-free ingredients are used, they come in medium and large and are 2$ more per pizza...
  11. I'll try to remember to call ours tomorrow, it's been a busy week! If it sounds like a go, you and Tristan should come over for dinner!! It just scares me....! (the cc, not the having you over for dinner part )

    ARCHIVED Frustrated

All I can say is- David Swenson Ashtanga Yoga, series 1. I was in pretty good shape before--didn't think it would change that much--OMG!!!! It has completely transformed my body and uses muscles I didn't know I had. You need no equipment, you can follow thru the practice for as much time as you have available, I usually can fit in an hour 3xweek. It's...
  13. I make the hashbrowned crusted quiche all the time, use frozen hashbrowns. I bake smaller versions in 2 cup ramikins and refrigerate--they heat up really well!! (just microwave for a bit) and are great for those who want/need portion control.
  14. I make the Pamela's gluten-free 'wheat' bread mix and I just add dried rosemary to the dry ingredients and chopped kalamata olives to the wet ingredients, then mix as directed and I put them into muffin tins to rest and bake, they are soooo goooood, but I have to apologize--I'm a dumper, I don't usually measure ingredients. I'm guessing maybe 1(??) TBS...
  15. We don't eat out much anymore, so I've worked on a lot of "diner" type recipes. This one I make almost every weekend (and it's easy): -In skillet, heat some oil (maybe 1Tbs-I don't usually measure) -Cover the bottom (just the bottom if you're cooking for 1) with frozen hashbrowns-add chopped peppers, onions, frozen spinach (whatever your taste prefers...
  16. I don't know if this is just here in my neighborhood or all over, but they're advertising it here. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried it and had any problems?
  17. I have also had bad luck with pharmacists. It has amazed me how NOT helpful they have been. I call the manufacturer as well, but I had also invested in the Clan Thompson food and drug list. That was pretty helpful, but of course not all things are listed.
  18. Every time I've made the truffle brownie mix, they're fine if I cut them right away, but after they're cooled, they are as hard as a brick and I've thrown 2 batches away because I was afraid of someone breaking a tooth. I bake a lot, and it's one thing I think I'm pretty good at. Rarely do I ruin anything, so I'm not sure this is just me.... Never had...
  19. Christmas Eve: Prime Rib with homemade horsradish sauce Au gratin potatoes Salad Steamed Veggies gluten-free rolls (usually Pamelas--add garlic or cheese or rosemary and kalamata olives...) pie--I usually make apple, pumpkin, berry and pecan Christmas day--too tired from the day (and night) before and the kids getting up before dawn to see...
  20. I always use the recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook (which is basically what you described-but I use sharp cheddar, you don't have to use as much) and I just sub in whatever gluten-free flour mix I have on hand (ususally Bob's Redmill). It's always a big hit at our house! (double or triple the recipe-it freezes well too)
  21. For the 1st birthday party post-diagnosis, I hadn't experimented much with cakes and such, so we had a "Hawaiian" theme and did ice cream sundaes. I took my 5yo dd to the store and let her pick out a cart-full of gluten-free toppings and set up a small table so all the kids (ages 4-6) could make their own--it was a HUGE hit!!!
  22. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream. We use it for EVERYTHING--chapped lips, eczema, cracked hands etc... A little goes a LONG way and it lasts thru a few hand washings (I need that working in a hospital and taking care of little ones!) Aquaphore is another good one.
  23. I was in a total pinch and only had gluten-free pancake mix It was totally fine!
  24. I had a pretty good experience when I called them. When we eat that stuff, I look at Jimmy Dean products and trust them if nothing is listed. I do like the sausage skillet breakfast that you just add the eggs to, it's pretty tasty! The Hormel natural bacon is pretty good too and it says "gluten free" on the package.
  25. I was in maternity pants at about 8 weeks with my 2nd (~5.5 months with the first). I also felt movement before 14 weeks with the 2nd (20 weeks exactly with the 1st). You have muscle memory, your abs know they need to start stretching! As far as the twins go regarding your size--although I was showing much earlier, the 2nd was a pound and a half smaller...
