ARCHIVED Pc Or Palm Programmes
celiac-mommy replied to cymrudenver's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We purchased the year subscription the 1st year after our dd's diagnosis. I found it very helpful at the time. I don't feel it's at all necessary for us now. -

ARCHIVED Kids Bday Cake
celiac-mommy replied to strawberrygm's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We did a luau for my dd's 5th b-day. It was so much fun!! She (thank God) didn't want a cake--I was still in my 'no baking' phase-so we did ice cream sundaes. I took her to the candy aisle and told her to go crazy (gluten-free of course). We set out little bowls of different candies and crushed cookies and all the kids got to make their own. It was the... -
ARCHIVED Anyone On Here Not A Baker?
celiac-mommy replied to strawberrygm's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I used to be a great baker, one of the few talents I will own up to For a year after my dd was diagnosed I did no baking. I just stuck with the basics and was depressed during the holiday's when I usually go into over-drive and bake EVERYDAY. Well, this past Christmas I said screw it, and I started to bake. The more I experimented, the more I wanted to... -
ARCHIVED Kids Bday Cake
celiac-mommy replied to strawberrygm's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Open Original Shared Link see 'Beach 06' picture Here's a picture of a cake. I've seen ones like this in a few magazines. You'd need the little plastic figures, animals and palm trees, strips of fabric for beach towels. Crushed cookies (Pamela's shortbread maybe) for one side and white frosting for the other with blue coloring to mix. It looks super... -
ARCHIVED Cover Girl/p&g Update
celiac-mommy replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know they all have to cover their ars's. Most of the mainstream products out there do outsource some of their ingredients, so most are not completely safe. There are a few exceptions, I know. It bugged me too when I specifically said that I worry when my toddler kisses my cheek--and they followed that up with although their products are most likey gluten... -
ARCHIVED Doughnut Holes, Anyone?
celiac-mommy replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have one, the kids LOVE it! Mine is the cast iron, it only takes a few minutes to make a batch, little longer than making pancakes, but fun. I make berry compote for the kids to dip them in instead of syrup. To use them easier, spray with cooking spray between each batch and I use those wooden skewers you can get anywhere to turn them so I don... -

ARCHIVED Cover Girl/p&g Update
celiac-mommy replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree. I had more of an issue with the "need for a Dr. note" request. Now I can make an informed decision due to their lack of knowlege of Celiac disease -
ARCHIVED Cover Girl/p&g Update
celiac-mommy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Regarding the post before, got a rediculous email back asking for a Dr note in order to tell me if there was gluten in 2 cover girl products and what their labeling practice is regarding gluten. I sent the following email and got one in return rather quickly: Dear Procter and Gamble, My name is Rachelle and I recently inquired about two Cover Girl... -

ARCHIVED Tinkyada Pasta
celiac-mommy replied to ShayFL's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I do the same with the bring to a boil, turn down part, but I actually check the noodles 1/2 way thru the suggested cooking time and then at 1 min increments after that. When I cook them too long, they fall apart too. -
Ooooh, that sounds great. I've seen 11 patients so far today and all I've eaten is 2 pears and a latte at 6am----I'm STARVING! 2 more to consult and then maybe I can eat..... Don't people know they can't get sick on a holiday LOVE PB&chocolate

celiac-mommy replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I guess I will be boycotting as well (all P&G). This makes me very disappointed and angry. Like I'm out to steal their secret formulas is rediculous!!! I will be letting them know exactly how I feel. I'll let you know if I hear anything back... -
ARCHIVED True Southern Biscuits
celiac-mommy replied to imsohungry's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I seriously spent a month trying to perfect the perfect southern biscuit. I tried yeast, no yeast, buttermilk.....you name it, i've tried it. I tried some of the other recipes found here for southern biscuits and didn't like the results. I like the Pamela's biscuit recipe on 'her' website, so that's what i use--but it's not what you're looking for ... -
ARCHIVED Cover Girl Cosmetics
celiac-mommy replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know, but within 3 days of using any of their foundations, I have literally 15+ zits all over my face. It happens every time. I can use the pressed powder and lip gloss fine though. I am going to stop using CG for sure, and I'm going to use that fax# listed to send a letter--tactful but letting them know exactly how I feel! -
ARCHIVED Cover Girl Cosmetics
celiac-mommy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been using CG cosmetics since I was 15. I recently sent an email specifically listing 3 products I use and if they were gluten-free, or if a product contained gluten, would they list "gluten" or "wheat" in the ingredient list (like they do with the mineral make-up--lists 'oats'. Before I emailed them, I tried for 1/2 hour to get thru on a customer service... -

ARCHIVED Tiramisu Cheesecake
celiac-mommy replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I had 2 people tell me it was the best cheesecake they've ever had. I got 20 good sized pieces out of it and by reducing the fat on the cream cheese and sour cream, I knocked the calories per piece from ~400 to 220!!!!! So go ahead and eat 2 pieces-or 3... It loos really pretty when the pieces are cut too. I took it from the fridge, cut it BEFORE putting... -

ARCHIVED Fudgy Brownies
celiac-mommy replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm sorry!! Mine had a nice crust on top and were totally fudgy in the middle... I always start 5 minutes under the origional cooktime, check and then keep baking, if necessary. I have a convection oven so things tend to cook a bit faster. I hope they turn out good next time! -
ARCHIVED Grainy Stools
celiac-mommy replied to butterfly6's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That's the tell-tale sign our son's been glutened. He's almost 3-I couldn't figure out why there was so much 'sand' in his diaper a few months ago. I even asked his pre-school teacher if he had been eating sand on the playground We then went over his diet for the day and figured out he had gotten some gluten. Now I can tell EVERY time. My daughter was... -
