  1. Right now I am on two kicks. I love making homemade cubed hashbrowns and egg sandwiches on Kinnikinnick english muffins. The other think I love to make is noodles and sauce. I use DeBoles noodles and Mayacama alfredo sauce. I like to eat them with Kinnikinnick english muffins, too. Both these meals are so yummie.
  2. Hello, Charlotte.
  3. "This part of the forum is for techniques and information on how to cope with celiac disease and the gluten-free diet" This topic topic is about "What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?" It does not matter what is said there does NOT need to be back and forth off-topic conversation. Wrong doing and bad board conduct will be punished in the proper...
  4. Could everyone please try and stay on topic? Almost everything in this thread could be sent in PMs or e-mails.
  5. People all around do things everyday that are bad for them (just look at Burdee's list of risk behaviors)! This place is a board for Celiacs- those who do and do not follow the diet. We all suffer from the same disease and deal with it how we want. Cheaters know they are hurting themselves and we who do not cheat have to deal with them making their...
  6. I don't think it sucks. You will have to start cooking for yourself then. My family would ahve their meals and I would make my own. I still make my own but now that my Mom and borther were diagnosed they eat glutenfree, too. I just prefer to cook my own food because I did before.
  7. You cannot let anyone else factor into you staying on your diet. You will always have the weirdos who don't get it and all. When I was in High School I explained to my friends what I had and why I had been so sick. They got it. In college I rarely tell anyone about my Celiacs and just kindly decline offers off food. People shouldn't need explanations...
  8. I like them, too. All of them.
  9. Sometimes I react by the end of a meal or even during it. Other times it takes days!
  10. I have been told be lots of people how good the book is and that they've enjoyed it. I just think people should read it for themselves and decide. Maybe they can get something out of it. It's not getting bad reviews from everyone. Frito-Lay right out tells you that most of their products on that list will be contaminated making them not glutenfree...
  11. Wood absorbs everything even when wased and washed. Just because you don't get sick doesn't mean you are not getting gluten.
  12. I eat those kind if I call the company first.
  13. Well, I do not consider any Frito-Lays' products to be glutenfree (unless made on a dedicated line). If Cheeto's have that cross-contamination then I would agree with then not being glutenfree. All books will have issues, especially those written from personal expereince. Read it or don't but if you do just remember to think about what's being said....
  14. Using a dishwasher is best when you share kitchen things, I find. Somethings that need to be hand-washed we have two of or just one clearly know to be only used for glutenfree foods.
  15. I sometomes wish doctors could give you something to take at home. Ow, it can hurt.
  16. Your child can certainly go trick-or-treating! You will just have to take the "bad" candy at the end of the night. As for other holidays (foodwise) there are loads of candies like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and M+M's (all but crispy), but also a lot of others that I cannot think of right now. I am sure other people will have better lists!
  17. Roller/Ice Skating parties were always fun when I was in grade school.
  18. I almost never eat anything that it has that warning. It is my personal choice, though.
  19. I have always had Celiac Disease. I was diagnosed 2 years ago, though.
  20. Your school cannot make you pay for a meal plan if they do not offer you things to eat that are stricktly glutenfree. You should talk with them and maybe they will allow you to ahve certain things in your room. Frusits and veggies are always yummie to eat.
  21. If you don't want to take the subway be sure to have a map and before going mark all the palces on it. Then, you can take a cab and they will know where to go. They aren't hard to find going by the subway though. My parents went up a few weeks ago and did the subway thing alone and were fine!
  22. That is very cool!
  23. I do not know about testing and children but I wanted to tell you that it is fully possible to lead a healthy glutenfree life and be veggie or vegan.
  24. Tell them the truth. It destroys the villi in your intestines. People generally are like "whoa" when you tell them that. If they ask "then what" you can say that a lot of different side effects can occur depending on what you eat. This is a disease where you can have major reaction one time that you have never had before. Oh, if you throw in that...
  25. I know we have talked about this before and I still go with that you always have it.
