  1. Sounds good! The website link didn't work but when I googled it the site came up just fine. Open Original Shared Link
  2. Crazy, I eat regular Utz a lot when I am in Baltimore. I like to get them made fresh at the market but also buy them at the store. Never had a problem.
  3. I have never worked with those flours. It depends about the taste, I don't notice it in most stuff but my Mother swears she does. I boil the water and for 1 egg do 1 tbs flax seed with 3 tbs water and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. When using box egg replacer I add the dry and wet all to the mix. I do not mix them separate and then add them to the mix...
  4. I usually stick to rice and veggie dishes without soy sauce at loads of Asian place. Good luck!
  5. Right, vegan baking involves no eggs. I always use an egg replacer mix or flax seed and do not have the gooey problem. What is the recipe you are using?
  6. A lot of us will react to oats, too, regardless of cross-contamination. It really is up to you and how you feel but if you are going to eat oats at all, make sure they are dedicated gluten-free. It is up to everyone to try and see. Good luck!
  7. It is possible if you put your favourites in. Make snacks fruit or veggies and add as many veggies to your main dishes as you can.
  8. Okay, so the first batch I baked until edges were brown but they tasted too puffy. Second batch I made thinner and let brown all over = yummie! I bet if I had used Earth Balance butter they'd bake a little different. I also stuck mine in the freezer for an hour and started with all my ingredients cold, this worked out very well. How'd yours turn out?
  9. I have been trying to make good gluten-free vegan sugar cookies. Mine turn out puffed up and not very cookie like. I can make peanut butter and chocolate chip. However, I have noticed that if my ingredients for any cookie are too warm and/or mixed too smoothly, the batter spreads and the product is poorer than I'd like. I always chill the batter between...
  10. Aw, I LOVVVVVVEEEEEE this bread. It is so yummie fresh baked. I am sure you can make something else out of it. Good luck and I hope you make something you'll enjoy.
  11. I dated a few guys after being diagnosed. It wasn't such a big deal since the guys I was with were caring. If they hadn't been, it wouldn't have gone much further. Just be prepared with a few places to eat so you don't have to end up with no where to go. Good luck and have fun!
  12. I do not know about heart palpitations but I do know that not everyone has tummy issues as reactions. My Mother (also Celiac), for instance, gets migraines. Good luck!
  13. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I think I can do better next time. I probably have issues with the heat, makes sense.
  14. Can you post a recipe? How much of each are we supposed to use? I always have trouble making roux.
  15. Here are some things my family (Celiacs too) and my boyfriend and I like to get: Kinnikinnick brand San-J soy sauce Amy's rice bowls and Bistro burger Van's brand waffles Thai Kitchen brand Schar brand Orgran brand Ener-G brand is getting better Rice Chex (one version is gluten-free and labeled so) You are lucky to live near NYC, so many good...
  16. Hello! Well, I am sorry to say that this is a no cheating game. I was shocked when I found that out, but to be healthy and not damage our bodies we have to be 100% gluten-free 100% of the time. Also, after you are gluten-free for awhile, it will hurt sooooooooooooo much worse when you eat gluten. It is a scary thing and not worth it at all. Gluten...
  17. San-J is what we use pretty much everyday. YUM!
  18. Are you sure Burger King's fries are safe? There are always other things in the same fry box like onion rings and what not. Eek!
  19. I can never get my Chebe right- always way too chewy.
  20. If you want accurate results you HAVE to be eating gluten. There are other tests you can take: blood and stool. The blood ones can come out with a false negative, in which a biopsy would be needed. If you get a positive you don't really need the biopsy. Additionally, you could always just do the diet and no testing, if you feel good. It is all up to...
  21. That is very interesting. Thank you for posting!
  22. For an upscale, safe, and delicious place try Park 75 at the Four Seasons. Open Original Shared Link Call ahead and maybe have some ideas in your head of what you want. Talk to the chef (or his sous chef) and enjoy! When my mom and I went, they made us whatever we wanted. They also have gluten-free weeks every once in awhile.
  23. Egg replacer works best if you add it in dry and then add the water into the recipe. You can mix the water and replacer together, if you want, but it works best separate. I use Earth Balance and Silk as my substitutes but for certain recipes I use apple sauce instead of the "butter" for calorie purposes. If you are just starting, I'd just stick with...
  24. Regular working out does nothing for me at all but I lost weight doing an hour of yoga 2-3 times a week. I was also watching my calorie intake. I stopped doing yoga for a few months and did more cardio, biking, and running and it did not nothing at all. So, I started doing yoga again with some running and it works well. So, my point is that you need...
  25. I was looking at my boyfriends meal plan options (they begin Fall 2009 at the university I graduated from) and in the FAQ it says that people with allergies will be given a waiver. I love that they will be doing that! No use in spending money to eat nothing.
