  1. I am not in New York but visit! 1. When you eat out at a restaurant do you worry about cross contamination? Always. 2. How has being diagnosed with celiac or gluten intolerance affected the way you eat out? Has it affected your social life? I either do not eat while everyone else does or we research in advance a place for...
  2. I have never been here :Open Original Shared Link but they have gluten-free stuff. I love:Open Original Shared Link Have fun!
  3. Blood is fine but marrow is a no (I was also very upset about this). It makes sense since Celliacs is an auto-immune disorder but in family situations I think it is okay but to the general population we are out. Further research in the future might change this, though, who knows!
  4. I have made this modified recipe twice with great results. The recipe comes from Open Original Shared Link. Instead of soy butter I use 1/2 a cup of apple sauce and add some xanthan gum. I don't add the crisscross design either. "1 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup soy margarine, softened to room temperature...
  5. That's great! They are coming to Atlanta and even offer a vegan cheese (which means casein-free)! Woo!
  6. Well, that post has it but none of my other ones do, sigh!
  7. Am I missing something? I can't find the edit button. . .I need to fix my typos.
  8. Hmm, most of my friends and close classmates have been supportive and one out of their way to make sure there was food for me or at a restaurant willing to make me food. If people were disrespectful to me I'd have a real problem. College is meant to be a place of learning and fun. This is my last year and I have had a great time not only being Celiac but...
  9. Enjoy: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I was just told a baker in downtown Woodstock is willing to make a gluten-free cake. (My brother recently became engaged, so, I assume we will be shopping for a cake soon enough, too!)

  13. Last Friday when I went to work I was told we were all going out to lunch and I was not happy! The whole of the Kennesaw Carrabba's was closed for us (a lot of people) and pre-buffet style food selections were set up. I asked our areas server if it was all planned out and he said "Yes, but what are your food allergies?" Ha! I told him about being gluten...
  14. Sometimes I feel ill if I use hand sanitizer but I thought it was just me.
  15. For a quick but fun read check out "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep."
  16. Some Aussie products contain wheat and made my scalp all nasty.
  17. Franklin Farms has some great veggie stuff (not vegan though) and Garden Burger has some vegan and veggie stuff that is also good. Sunshine burger is okay, too, but not as good as the other two.
  18. Whoa, I am surprised by some peoples comments. I am a gluten-free vegan and am perfectly healthy. I have never heard of anyone being vegan to heal themselves and well I guess I do not know many vegans in general. It is VERY easy as long as you watch what you eat and take care of yourself. Do research and make sure you eat well. You could talk to a nutritionist...
  19. Honestly, I would buy new cast iron and possibly new stoneware depending on the kind you have. If it unglazed and porous especially. You could always keep them for when you cook gluten foods or give them to a friend/family member.
  20. I have only participated in Atlanta and Duluth support groups: Open Original Shared Link and Open Original Shared Link There is also a R.O.C.K. group but I haven't done anything with them: https://www.celiac.com/articles/563/1/ROCK-...roup/Page1.html Good luck!
  21. I was diagnosed at 17 (5 years ago) and am the same height that I was when I was 12. I cannot think of being any other height, ha!
  22. I went to Portland about two years ago and here is my post, have fun! Open Original Shared Link
  23. I never eat things that may contain traces of casein. I think your friend would appreciate you using another brand until you talk about how they feel. That way the trust they have in you isn't broken.
