  1. I agree. What he did went outside the boundaries of normal respect.
  2. I must ask the question ..."Why is the rest of the family so drawn to gluteny foods??" I see this more as a concern for their health rather than a "social" type of thing. Do they have gluten issues that have not been diagnosed yet? I have always been told to make a list of the top 5 foods you crave and find the common denominator then you will have...
  3. If it is someone know doesn't know our situation we will either dispose of it or DH will take it to work. Family is trickier. MIL thinks our issues are made up or all in our head. I am a little more dramatic with her. She has purposely hidden ingredients so we don't eat anything from her anymore unless it is completely sealed from the factory.
  4. I'm not a Dr but it sure sounds like you have some kind of sensitivity. To know exactly what you have you will need to be tested.
  5. I gave blood once and found out I was AB+. They don't want AB+ blood. I'm too slow for the other things they have.
  6. Our nutritionist said that wheat and dairy are the two allergies/intolerances/sensitivities/whatever that you don't mess with. Once positive, always positive. You never truly outgrow these they just take on different forms in your body. Treat a once positive (test or symptom) as you would a positive celiac test.
  7. I cannot tell you how many times I've heard a line like that. I now ask "and what is cheese made from???"...thinking..."OH!!!"
  8. Thank you X sounds nice but I have multiple food allergies and cannot try it.
  9. I was on a "fad" diet not too long ago that eliminated milk and wheat. (I choose it because it didn't push low fat milk this and low fat milk that - that was before I started really questioning wheat) In the FAQ they had the question as to why they were eliminated. The creator of the diet recognized through his research that those 2 create many seen and...
  10. B vitamins often give a reaction to those first starting them or changing brands. Often people feel sick and lethargic before they feel better on the vit. It is kind of a detox type of thing. I'd give it a couple weeks to give the body its switch over time.
  11. Knox will thicken up like a shake. Now, if you let is sit for a few hours it will harden.
  12. My Mom lost several before I came along. I (the baby) was her only healthy pregnancy. My brother (first born) lived but with lots of medical intervention during the pregnancy.
  13. I have behavioral allergies as do a couple of my kids. It is difficult to find a dr to work with you. Most only recognize IgE allergies. I love the book "Is This Your Child" by Dr Doris Rapp. The Feingold Program also recognizes behavioral allergies and has a bunch of great research links on their site.
  14. After DH feeling like he was going to blow up internally after the office Christmas party, he finally gave the go ahead for me to order the at enterolab tests for each of us. I guess we will see what it says. We both are a little nervous. I guess there is some comfort in ignorance.
  15. Mine has done that too. I think it is weather sensitive. Have you noted it happening more on sunny or rainy days?? I find my gluten-free cooking works better if I have my oven hot or even over warmed before I add the item. When I put the item in I drop the temp to the one on package.
  16. Oh yes! Do this! Last year DH company had a catered meal. I couldn't have most of it. The banquet manager had me look over a menu and pick something and they made sure it was "clean" and cooked "clean".
  17. I know the chicken at our Walmart has wheat (and I am assuming they use the same recipe at all places).
  18. We are distributors too and love the stuff. We were introduced when our first son started having all kinds of issues (he is also the one that lead the way to this board). I absolutely love the makeup. At first the foundation looks a little pricey but it lasts way longer then what I was buying at the store. The cleaning products are good too. ...
  19. Would your recipe allow you an egg or 2??
  20. The swelling tongue is a big allergy sign. A severe sign!!! RUN to that allergist and get an epi.
  21. Oh how funny!!!
  22. If I were trying that recipe with gluten-free flour (sounds great, I may!) I would probably add an extra egg. I like the addition of an extra egg rather than the x-gum.
  23. What I read in a student cookbook was that milk was added to a recipe for (1) liquid (2) fat. If I were subbing for butter milk I would use the same amount of liquid and add a little extra fat (butter, oil) for the texture that it gives. More often then not if a baking recipe calls for milk, I will use water since its primary purpose is its liquid qualities...
  24. We eat a lot of basic foods -- roast with veggies, baked chicken with veggies, hm (homemade) stew, hm beef and veggie soup, hm chili, crockpot beans...stuff like that
  25. I am wondering why they want you to heat the gelatin/water mix. I haven't made the recipe you are making but in my other similar recipes you do not heat that part of the recipe. In some applications there are other elements you heat but not the gelatin/water mix.
