  1. I am sooooo jealous....I live in California and it seems that so much of the good stuff is on the east coast...I order from Everybody Eats in New York and Conte's in New Jersey but can't seem to find the good stuff readily available here. If anybody has easier suggestions for those of us living on the west coast...I am open for help....
  2. The "Soul Patrol" guy was Taylor Hicks...I really liked him on the show but he kinda bombed afterwards.....my farorite is Carrie Underwood and I think Chris Doughtry is one of the best to come out of AI...and he didn't even win.
  3. I am going to Aspen at the end of Feb. for a convention/ski trip. I looked through my Glutin-Free Restaurant Guide and did not see one Celiac-friendly restaurant listed. Can anybody give me some restaurants I can go to while I am there. Any help is appreciated.
  4. This has really created some intense feelings....I am the one who mentioned vomiting...although do not remember saying anything about "projectile". My comment was made in humor, although honest and was taken that way by my server and the manager. A restaurant is a "service industry" and alhough many of us are no longer aware of what customer service means...
  5. I have been making my own teriyaki sauce since I couldn't find one listed that was gluten-free. I happened to come across La Choy teriyaki marinade & sauce at Walmart....and could not detect any gluten ingredients, but since I am only a couple of months into this I called the company and they confirmed that there are no gluten ingredients....I am thrilled...
  6. This sounds exiciting....i would love to have something out there that could help for those accidental times. Does anybody know when something like this would be available.
  7. Mimi's does not have a gluten-free menu but the mgr keeps a gluten-free list in the back office...they have been very accomodating...also Red Robin will work with you, the one near me has a dedicated fryer and they put the cheeseburger andall the "fixins" on the side. I bring my own bun and just put it together at the table.
  8. I bring food with me all the time to restaraunts...breads, chips, gluten-free cupcakes and deserts, salad dressing.....only once has anybody questioned me, while my husband and I were dining in a "fine" restaurant with 2 other couples. I simply stated when their chef's at the restaurant could make gluten-free bread, gravy and desert that won't make me throw...
  9. I am the only celiac in the family.....luckily I am also the cook I no longer even have regular flour in my house. I do keep things like hot pockets and bagel bites that the family eats but they have a seperate small microwave that is used for anything with gluten. EVERYTHING I cook is gluten-free and nobody notices the difference anymore. Bread was...
  10. I live in California...there is a Mimi's Cafe about 10 minutes from me. They have been very accomodating and we eat there once or twice a month. I have never gotten sick after eating there....I wish we had some of the other restaurants you mentioned though

  12. Thanks....I know it could be worse and I just need to put it in perspective. He is extremely bright...much smarter than his mother..LOL ...but has been on medication since 3rd grade for ADHD. We went through almost a year of testing before starting the meds...diet changes, enviornment changes, counseling, and now I wonder if the whole time it could have...
  13. I was diagnosed about 2 months ago and as a precaution decided to have blood tests run on my two boys. I am like many, having a difficult time trying to adjust to a new life style and at times have a real pity party for myself. My younger son didn't show any signs and I was thrilled. My older son called today after hearing from his doctor....his numbers...
  14. I am new to this too and sometimes overwhelmed. I just left my god daughter's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese where I could have nothing including a piece of her birthday cake ....BUT, I didn't come home like I normally would, with a terrible stomach ache, headache, joint pains, ...on and on.....and not know what was wrong with me. This is not always...
  15. I will definately try the upside down turkey thing next time but can somebody tell me how to make graham cracker crust....I can't find any gluten-free graham crackers......still fairly new to this so maybe just not looking in the right places.
  16. I live in California and just contacted the company....they ship! I ordered 10 packages of ravioli...the lady I spoke to said she believes they are working now on a gluten free gnocchi.....thank you so much for the tip...I am Italian and miss this stuff so much.
  17. OK...I cheated...I had 25 people at my house and I am the only Celiac! I did regular stuffing and gravy for everyone else....challanging since I do not use a recipe and couldn't taste it this year. Went by smell...got lucky, my husband asked if I could make it again...this is doubtful and next year will push that task to a relative..LOL....I had Whole...
  18. I just bought the kitchenaid pro at Costco today...they have a sale going...it was very reasonable.
  19. It is below my ribcage but above my hip bone...and I keep pressing it too...it is deep inside....this gives me hope that it will go away! It is annoying but not particularly painful, at least not compared to what I have already been through.
  20. I am only a few weeks into this and although generally I feel better I still have a very nagging pain in the lower right side..no appendix or female stuff left so I can't figure out what this is about. I am not sure if it is a cross contamination problem ( I try to be so careful, but I do have teenagers in the house) or if there is another problem. I have...

  24. Gayle, My name is Donna and I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. I also live in Chino Hills. Would love to hear from and/or get together. Don't know how to navigate around this yet so I am not sure how to pull up your information to contact you directly or by e-mail...please contact me if you can.
  25. Big Bear is one of my faviorite places in the world! Have you tried some of the online markets? I have found that if I take a cooler I can shop at several different stores....Whole Foods is about an hour away but I stock up while there and also order harder to find items online. If you are familiar with a couple of the restaurants they may work with you...
